  1. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jun 5, 2009 -> 11:02 AM) They're putting in a Sonic a couple blocks away from me. Construction is supposed to start any day now. I've been seeing their commercials for years now yet have never even seen one so this should be interesting. I love Sonic. I don't think the food is "subpar" at all. I usually get mozzarella sticks, a grilled cheese sandwhich, sometimes fries, and a Sonic Blast (think Blizzard from DQ). Pretty solid meal. Their drinks and desserts are definitely what makes that place though.

    Films Thread

I'm surprised at all the MacGruber hate. I personally think it's one of the very few funny things SNL has done in recent years. I don't even watch SNL anymore b/c of how awful it is, but I'll watch MacGruber clips on Hulu.
  3. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 4, 2009 -> 11:49 PM) WatchTVSitcoms.com my friend. That website is awesome. Thanks!
  4. I'm pretty excited about Entourage, but I don't have HBO at my house, so I'm gonna have to find a friend that does. I also want to start watching Burn Notice. I've heard it's a really good show from quite a few people.
  5. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jun 4, 2009 -> 08:40 PM) FutureSox revisits the top 25 Note: FutureSox doesn't work on Firefox very well currently. We are working on it. Nice job with the updates on each player.
  6. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 4, 2009 -> 01:40 AM) You do? For Iowa? Uh oh... Shouldn't have said that to the Iowa St guy.
  7. Well, I guess I'm a little late to the game here, but... this is awesome! I cant wait to see how he does tomorrow! Now that Beckham is up, all we need to do now is DFA Wise and get him the hell out of town once Quentin comes off the DL or if we make a trade before then.
  8. As far as the parents trying to get him eligible a year earlier, quit being selfish and let the kid finish out his time in high school. Even if he thinks he wants to go pro early, I think down the road he'd regret missing out on his senior year of high school. There will be plenty of time for baseball, and if he's as good as everyone thinks, he'll be up in the majors before you know it.
  9. This is bulls***. Kenny needs to step up and get rid of Wise. I've been a long proponent of Anderson and I said the other day that I was worried he would lose a lot of playing time to Wise and it looks like he is. I can't wait till Quentin gets back, though, b/c I feel like that has to be the end of Wise.
  10. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 2, 2009 -> 04:56 PM) I wonder how many golfers are on this site? it might be cool to have a Soxtalk Open at a local course one of these days. My 1st thought was that it wouldn't be difficult to get people interested, and then I realized how few people play in the annual Softball game (which I think would be a lot easier to play/organize than golf) and it probably would be difficult to put together. Though, it would definitely be fun. If I were in the area, I know I'd do it.
  11. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 2, 2009 -> 02:01 PM) It's just as hard to play baseball, football, basketball at a pro level than it is for golf. I can't see how you can rate one over the other. Yeah, maybe at the pro level it is just as hard. But at a recreational level, it's much harder. I can put up 15 points in an intramural basketball game or score a couple TD's in a football game a lot easier than I can shoot a good score in a round of golf with some buddies. I think most people would be that way.
  12. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 2, 2009 -> 04:52 PM) Nice, what color? Mine was Maroon. It was one of the first cars with climate control I remember, and it totally broke and could only pump out air at one speed, high. The best part about it in HS, the bench front seat. So true... By my senior year of high school (which was only 4 years ago so that car was about 13 years old), the AC didn't work and the radio went out. No AC was miserable in these 100 degree, high humidity summers. So I rode with the windows down at all times. The power locks only worked on the front doors and the back left door wouldn't open at all b/c my drunk older brother ripped off the lock one night when he was in college. For as much as there was wrong with that car, I loved that thing. My Taurus was charcoal gray, by the way, though paint had chipped off in numerous places to give it a silver look in those spots.
  13. I loved the car skit where Conan was in an old-school Ford Taurus. That's the car I drove in high school ('92 Taurus), so I guess I thought it was especially hilarious. Also enjoyed the list of things to do in LA that Ferrell told Conan, and Ferrell's entrance was priceless b/c as soon as they showed Conan, you could tell he didn't know that's what was going to happen.
  14. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 2, 2009 -> 12:03 PM) All I know is that I play golf quite frequently and its literally the hardest sport I have ever tried. I've waterskiied competitively, played numerous competitive sports growing up and through adulthood, and I have never ever been as challenged than at golf. I have also been dead tired after a round of play, played several rounds in a row where mentally I thought I was going to die, and have had some of my best moments in sport on a golf course. Par is the ultimate competition IMO. Very good points. I particularly like the last one. Golf is absolutely a sport and a very difficult one at that. It's so hard to be consistent where one little thing can completely mess up a shot. I wish I had seen this earlier b/c I would have backed you up, but you said it pretty well. Golf is more difficult to play than any of the major sports.
  15. I picked Richard b/c while Buehrle's stats are better, Richard gave us that 2nd, consistent starter we've been needing. He was a huge surprise. Mark has been dealing all year, but everyone else has been off and on, so it has really helped the team with Clayton giving 3 very solid straight performances.
  16. QUOTE (Cali @ May 31, 2009 -> 04:36 PM) When your minor league section section has a picture of Kris Honel at the top, do you really expect stellar analysis? good point
  17. This has been a wild weekend of games. 37 runs scored by one team in one game... 25 innings in one game... Strasburg losing...
  18. Phenomenal win! Great to see the guys give Greinke his worst outing of the year. I didn't really think we had a shot, but I watched it anyway since I don't get to see many games on TV.

    Need Some Help

And that's the way you do it.
  20. Not good to f*** up like that when you're facing the best pitcher in baseball. Very frustrating... Also, shouldn't that have been ruled an error? Oh, and Anderson should be playing if only for the fact that Wise is an awful baseball player.
  21. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 31, 2009 -> 12:58 AM) I believe that was 169 pitches, as well. Gotta love that kid giving everything he had... And Virginia just shutout UC Irvine 5-0! And ballgame... 3-2 Texas after 25 innings.
  22. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 31, 2009 -> 12:14 AM) I suggest you look at Austin Wood's pitching line for a bit more amazement. 13 IP... 2 H, 14 K - Outing of a lifetime for that kid. And Texas takes the lead with their 1st run in the last 23 innings. Ha! When was the last time you heard that in regards to one game?
  23. QUOTE (chimpy2121 @ May 31, 2009 -> 12:39 AM) http://all-access.cbssports.com/player.htm...mp;media=129205 For the free. You have to click to the next 10, its in the 11-20 out of 27. Thanks... Top of the 25th now. Ridiculous.
  24. Oh my god, I just looked at the scores for today's games, and Texas-BC are tied at 2-2 in the bottom of the 22nd inning. I wish I could be watching that right now.
  25. I still can't believe we hit 2 straight bunt singles. I don't think I've ever seen that happen, at least not on the Sox. Great win tonight.
