  1. I honestly thought I'd be the only person to pick Desmond... If you had asked me after the 1st 2 seasons, I would have said Jack.

    Spring Break

I'm going to Destin with 8 of my friends. We have a very nice, beach-front house rented out (it's our friend's dad who owns it, so we got a good deal on it). Should be fun as I've never done the college spring break thing before. Last year my sister got married during my Spring Break and the year before I was broke as hell and had zero money to spend on a trip.
  3. I know it's just Spring Training, but it was so sweet to see that HR launch off Beckham's bat...
  4. Absolutely huge win for Tennessee today. If only our football team could dominate Florida like our basketball team has the last few years... As long as we win our last 2 games, we'll finish 1st in the SEC East. Couple that with at least 1 win in the SEC tourney and I'd feel good about our chances of making the NCAA Tournament. May be a 7 or 8 seed, but I'd be fine with that. TN is a dangerous team. When they play well, they can beat a lot of teams.
  5. QUOTE (knightni @ Mar 1, 2009 -> 02:25 AM) Absolutely. He's due if he can stay healthy. Will the Royals compete for the division this season? No, but a lot of their delusional fans seem to think so... If the Bears don't make the playoffs next year, should Angelo and the coaching staff be fired?
  6. Kind of going off topic here, but reading all this stuff makes me wonder how I was able to function so well in high school. On average, I only slept about 6 hours/night (maybe 7 if I was lucky) b/c of school, sports, homework, and then time to wind down from the crazy day. I'd wake up at 7. School started at 8 and got out at 3. Then, I'd have lacrosse practice until 6 every day (October-May). Then we'd work out in the weight room until 7 or 7:30, and I'd go home and do homework. Though, a lot of days I had SGA, Key Club, or some other kind of meeting late at night (8-ish), so I wouldn't get home until 9. That leaves an hour or 2 for homework, and then an hour of TV or reading or something before going to bed usually around 1am. And I did that every day at least Junior and Senior year. Anyway, I think the summer break is absolutely a necessary part of the year. I had to work b/c I wasn't getting money from my parents, and there is absolutely no time to work during the school year when you have days like I (and many other students) did. I wouldn't have minded a block-scheduling type of schedule, but in no way do I think the school day or year should be extended. In addition to work, I absolutely couldn't have kept up my hectic schedule year round. The summer break is needed to get away from that environment, wind down, make some money, and have fun.
  7. QUOTE (rangercal @ Feb 28, 2009 -> 01:38 PM) bears should go after Thigpen. I like him As soon as I saw the trade, that's exactly what I thought as well. I really really like Thigpen and would give him every shot to compete with Orton for the starting job.
  8. I don't know... I probably wouldn't call him Slayer. I think it's more of an inside thing on this board.
  9. Pursuing my BS in Logistics (comparable to Supply Chain Management) with a minor in International Business...
  10. One of the walk-ons on the Tennessee basketball team came to watch my team's intramural game (he's really good friends with one of my friends), and he wore a Michael Jordan White Sox jersey to our game. I thought it was awesome since I've never actually seen one (though that's probably b/c I don't live in Chicago).
  11. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 18, 2009 -> 05:04 PM) I procrastinate a lot. I think it honestly helps me until I actually have to do stuff. I imagine you probably can't do that though. Sounds like me. I haven't had s*** to do this week and knew I had a big test on Friday, but as it comes down to it, I'm still awake at 4:30 in the morning studying for my test tomorrow. I could have studied every night and probably would have been better off, but where's the fun in that? I guess I thought waiting until the night before seemed like a good idea, especially when I went out last night and got hammered...
  12. Just a warning for you guys to watch out using the P-word...
  13. I love me some granny smiths
  14. I feel like all student sections must suck... I hate the Tennessee students at basketball games. They chant things that make us look so dumb. Like yelling "sucks" after players from the other team are introduced. Literally the dumbest thing I've ever heard people do at a game.
  15. I watched tonight... Had some pretty good parts. I see potential.
  16. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Feb 15, 2009 -> 11:32 AM) If Tait does retire, we're down to Williams at the OT position. Which means we must re-sign St. Clair, and must think hard and long about drafting Oher if he falls to us or trading up if he begins to fall. If we have the opportunity to take Oher, it's a no-brainer.
  17. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 11, 2009 -> 06:49 PM) The more I think about it, the more I kinda want the Bears to draft a LB to replace Urlacher I've mentioned before that if Laurinaitis or Maualuga fall to the Bears, they should seriously consider using their pick on either of those guys.
  18. Speaking of rent, I'm going to be living in a 4-bedroom apartment next year and it's $430/person not including electric. What's sad is that's a really good deal too unless you want to live in a s***hole. I hate rent payments. If we were to get a house like we originally wanted, it would be like $550/month which is ridiculous.
  19. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 8, 2009 -> 08:21 PM) I'm not sure if this was posted in here, but I HATE that as a kid, my dumbass teachers made me do all of that practice to learn how to write in cursive. Complete waste of time, I haven't written a single thing in cursive other than my signature since junior high and it's been of no consequence. Agreed. I can't remember how to make certain cursive letters. I have to think about it (and sometimes practice) if I'm forging a signature for someone else... Cursive is such a stupid thing to learn, except for signing your name. I guess if you're really good at it, it allows you to write faster...
  20. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Feb 8, 2009 -> 08:28 PM) No matter how hard I try, I simply can't get into the pro-bowl. I didn't even know it was being played today until this morning... How sad is that? The Pro-Bowl is a worthless event. They should give players post-season awards for being All-Pro or whatever, but not play the game. Just an acknowledgment-type thing as reward for having a great season.
  21. Well, whether he meant to or not, Kiffin put Tennessee at the forefront of any college football team the day after signing day, rather than LSU or Alabama with their phenomenal classes. All the talk was about Tennessee. And you know what they say... any press is good press.
  22. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Feb 6, 2009 -> 04:18 PM) Black calf-length control socks are mandatory at your age, I assume. B) What's funny to me about this is that the black calf-length sock stereotype for old men has seemed to find itself to the younger crowd, mostly people I know from Ohio. All my buddies from Cincinnati wear black calf-length crew socks for some reason. I mean, not all the time, but definitely often. I actually like the look. I notice guys in the gym going with this look more and more now. I put on a pair myself last summer with my running shoes and athletic shorts, and my mom just started laughing at me. She was like "That's what old men wear!" Made me feel stupid.

    Homework Help

QUOTE (3E8 @ Feb 7, 2009 -> 12:13 AM) Bill Brasky Phenomenal response! Except now that I think about it, would it even be possible for Bill Brasky to die? On a side note, I'm glad they specified writing an obituary on a fictional person b/c a fake obituary for Shaun Ellis (current Jets DE) for a journalism class here at UT accidentally got put on the school's online newspaper. Since he's a UT alum, a bunch of people started freaking out. Kind of f***ed up for someone to have written an obituary about a real person - just seems wrong.

    LOST!!!!

QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Feb 5, 2009 -> 06:07 PM) Just throwing out a theory here: Is it possible that Locke might get "lost in the past" somehow in another flash, then he lives on the island from that time and eventually becomes the person known as Jacob? Then in 2004, the plane crashes with 2004 Locke aboard and the original Locke is already on the island as Jacob. Any possibility to this theory? This Locke is Jacob theory has been on my mind for the past 2 weeks now. Well, that is quite an interesting theory. You know what? By chance I just happened to be flipping channels and saw Lost was on G4, so I tuned in. It was an episode from Season 1 when they were on their 6th day on the island, and Jack ran into the jungle, chasing his father. Locke meanwhile is talking to Sayid and Kate about the "Doctor" leaving and said "You two stay here. They'll need you two. I'll go look for Jack... Plus, I know where he's going." Or something to that effect. Seems a little eerie now. How did he know where exactly Jack was going to be, especially when they had just gotten on the island and didn't even know the layout yet? There's definitely something going on with Locke...
