QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 5, 2009 -> 06:50 AM) He qualified and said "recruiting coordinator rankings" or something like that. Thats a good one you mentioned. I wasnt even going to stray from my Buckeyes to bring up a staff, any of Hayes coaching staff would sufficed. And actually, my alma mater (Miami) has some impressive ones as well. That's for sure. It seems odd to me that Miami U of all places has all sorts of coaching connections, but they do... Heck, in general, the state of Ohio is the f'n coaching capital of the world. Something like 16 of the last 18 coaches to coach in the national championship are either from Ohio or coached at an Ohio school at some point in their career. That's amazing. Ohio is so underrated as a football state. -
Not really sure where to put this, but I just started watching Entourage last week because I've always heard how awesome of a show it is. Anyway, I've watched Seasons 1-3 in the last week, and will be starting on Season 4 tomorrow. Those were the only seasons I bought, though, because I heard Season 5 was bad. Anyway, I just wanted to say that this show is awesome. Absolutely hilarious, mainly Johnny Drama. "Not in my town... Not in any of my 5 towns."

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 4, 2009 -> 03:39 PM) For his sake, I hope he really doesn't read this site. Ooh, I didn't even realize that. If he does, I'd feel bad now b/c I know I've said some things about not being too happy if he's our CF'er. Oh well, as long as he plays well, it won't matter.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jan 4, 2009 -> 04:01 PM) Oh, I thought it was fun.....the nitrous can make you loopy....I wanted to talk during the procedure. It's the painful gums afterwards that suck more. Trust me, the part in the dentist's office isn't bad at all if they know what they are doing. That's for sure. I was so out of it that I tried to run back inside b/c I told my mom they hadn't done the surgery yet. She said I was laughing, being like "they haven't even taken out my wisdom teeth yet. Why are we leaving?" I was in la-la land.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 4, 2009 -> 12:51 PM) You were joking right? Nope... If you read around the recruiting circles, everyone is talking about the Tennessee staff being just ridiculous if they add Rodney Garner. Some believe Garner is the best recruiter in the nation, whereas Orgeron and Billy Gonzales are Top 20. And Kiffin himself being Recruiting Coordinator at USC means he's pretty damn good too. But, when I was talking about no staff has been assembled of this magnitude, I meant recruiting-wise. They essentially have 4 or 5 of the Top 25 recruiters in college football. There's not one other team that can say that. -
QUOTE (TheBlackSox8 @ Jan 3, 2009 -> 01:36 PM) Anybody into Psych? Show starts back up on the 9th. Anxiously waiting it's airing. Yeah, definitely. I like Monk too. What I really can't wait for is Lost and 24. I'm excited about Flashpoint coming back on as well. I watched it this summer when it had a few episodes and I liked it. I don't watch much TV, but the ones I do watch I really enjoy.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jan 3, 2009 -> 06:16 PM) Iowa State hires Rice's OC Tom Herman as OC/QB coach. Outstanding f***ing hire, we have a shot to be even more dangerous on offense. I don't know much about the guy, but that would seem to be a pretty good hire. Anything to jump start that program is needed, and a guy implementing a big time offense could be the thing to do that. In other coaching news, the TCU OC going to Illinois would also seem to be a very good hire for the Illini. Experienced guy and good motivator. Ran a pretty successful offense too. Oh, and tomorrow Tennessee should be making official the addition of Rodney Garner to the coaching staff. He was Georgia's D-line coach and Recruiting coordinator. Previously coached at UT around the time we won the National Championship in '98. Anyway, that now makes 5 former recruiting coordinators added to the staff. These guys are all supposed to be very good teachers, but even if they aren't for some reason, at least Tennessee will have some absolutely star-studded recruits coming in the next few years. I mean, a coaching staff of this magnitude has never been assembled before. And Billy Gonzales, the Florida WR coach and Recruiting Coordinator, is strongly rumored to be making a move to Tennessee after the National Championship game. If that's true, UT will be raiding Florida of its best position coach and best recruiter (except maybe Urban Meyer himself). I love it. -

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jan 3, 2009 -> 10:14 PM) I hate the asshole, that is, Phillip Rivers. So do I. He's a smug, arrogant, cocky son of a b**** who thinks he's the f***ing s***. I root against him every time they play. He could learn a thing or two from Peyton about winning and losing with class. -
This is classic... Well done, shipps

QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Jan 2, 2009 -> 10:16 PM) These Big 12 refs are ridiculous. How is that kick-catch interference when the guy caught the ball? They have been terrible all game. Utah has simply played through bad calls - bad spots, penalties, etc. - and are still coming out on top so far. I'm an SEC guy and I'll admit, Alabama has gotten a lot of calls and still can't capitalize. 2 missed FG's doesn't help. I am really surprised by Utah, though. They're playing a ton better than I expected. -

QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Jan 2, 2009 -> 09:35 PM) I didn't get to go to the game because of work, and my fiancee was pissed at me for it, so I get to feel bad twice as much now :-). As for the Ole Miss fans. During the later parts of the game the Ole Miss fans were tossing "spit" cups into the Tech stands. Ole Miss had several confederate flags flying in the stands, Ole Miss had guys standing in the walkways trying to pick fights after the game had ended. The Ole Miss band played through Texas Tech's school song. Ole Miss fans stood up and cheered and did their ridiculous hotty toddy chant when McKinner Dixon was down on the grass hurt. Now the Ole Miss fans are in droves at the Tech site just talking s*** over and over and over for 4 hours now. I have never seen anything like this. Stereotypes are usually bad, but in this case... Yeah, that's bad. Unfortunately, the stereotypes seem to be standing true in this case. Singing "Hotty Toddy" when another player was hurt is inexcusable for sure... But, you know, every school has fans like that. I guarantee a majority would feel the same way you do. -

QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Jan 2, 2009 -> 09:03 PM) I can tell you honestly that Tech didn't give a s*** about the bowl. Very similar to Cal a few years ago getting the shaft after being ranked #4 in the BCS, and getting dominated by Texas Tech in their 04 bowl. As for the Texas Tech players losing their cool, it was two hotheads who have done that crap before and Hamby had an assault charge in the offseason. He's a dips***. Ole Miss has a damn good team, but after the way I have seen their fans act, I have to say that I would root for the Mississippi river against their fans. I was wondering what your take on this would be... I laughed at your last comment. Just out of curiosity, did you go to the game? I almost did... Anyway, what did their fans do to make you so upset? -

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 2, 2009 -> 07:16 PM) Lovie met with Marinelli today. That's a good sign. I know that article from the Tribune said not to expect a decision from Marinelli too quickly, but it's a good sign nonetheless for him to be meeting with Lovie so soon. It looks like he's holding out for maybe a head coaching job somewhere, and if he doesn't get one, I'd think he's a lock to join the Bears' staff. -

QUOTE (danman31 @ Jan 2, 2009 -> 05:37 PM) It was a Cotton Bowl with a Tech team that didn't give a s***. I'd back off the top 10 calls a bit. I wouldn't. Not when they beat Florida, lost to Alabama by 4, crushed LSU and every other team they played towards the end of the season. Their only losses came early in the year before Jevan Snead got settled in. The defense has been great all year, but they weren't going to win games like the Vandy game where they had 5 turnovers and still had a chance to win at the end. Now that the offense is hitting on all cylinders and they aren't turning it over much, the defense is even better b/c they get to stay off the field longer. Oh, and you really don't think Texas Tech "didn't give a s***?" Well, you're wrong. I think it showed how much they did care when it started getting chippy at the end of the game and a few of the TT offensive lineman got personal fouls for unsportsmanlike conduct. The TT players looked completely frustrated. -

QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Jan 2, 2009 -> 07:08 PM) I meant better than Weber. You will never hear me say a bad thing about Altman. Yes, we could beat Purdue. It's not like they are that much more talented. I can't tell if you're kidding or not... -

QUOTE (lostfan @ Jan 2, 2009 -> 03:41 PM) Well-deserved, he basically carried the Colts into the playoffs on his back. Manning puts up 4000 yard passing seasons like it's no big deal. Definitely well-deserved. Manning is just a phenomenal player. If not for the injury to start the season, which was a lot worse than he let on, his numbers this year would have been a lot better/more consistent. And you're right, he still put up great numbers like it was no big deal, which just shows how great of a player he is. -

Ole Miss is one of the Top 10 teams in the nation, hands down. Maybe Top 5. I don't know after Oklahoma, USC, and maybe Florida who Ole Miss couldn't beat. They lost to Bama by 4, but if Ole Miss played them the way they're playing now, I think I'd take Ole Miss. Good thing I bet on Ole Miss today. I guaranteed victory to all my friends, so I can't wait to give a big "f*** you" to all of them who gave me s*** about taking Ole Miss. Woo! I am so happy right now. -
Well, this thread is starting out with some quality content...

I saw Valkyrie tonight. I thought it was pretty good from an entertainment standpoint. I don't judge movies for their "technical" whatever that some people do, so take that into consideration. Though, it's hard knowing the outcome before the movie can play out b/c, obviously, their attempt to kill Hitler didn't work.

In other news, Ed Orgeron has accepted the position of Assistant Head Coach, D-Line Coach, and Recruiting Coordinator at Tennessee. With the master recruiter Orgeron paired with defensive genius Monte Kiffin, what defensive recruit won't want to come to Tennessee? Get ready, folks. UT is about to be back on top! Huge, huge hire for the Vols. Also, we hired the old Purdue Offensive Coordinator Jim Chaney to the same position here, but it's not clear whether Kiffin or Chaney will call the plays. Any Purdue fans got anything on the guy? He seemed to have some pretty potent offenses while at Purdue and helped develop two very good QBs in Brees and Orton. But, how much of that was Tiller and how much was Chaney? -
Sonic is a fantastic fast-food joint. They have a lot of stuff your typical fast food places don't have, like their slushes, limeades, grilled cheese, tater tots, mozzarella sticks, hot dogs, etc. I always get a Sonic Blast, though. It's like a Blizzard from Dairy Queen but better - in both taste and price.

How about that Oregon St-Pittsburgh game? Whew! 3-0! -
Went to "Whataburger" for the 1st time last week and it was great. Just had a basic bacon cheeseburger with fries, but it was great. Next on my list of places I want to eat is Jack in the Box.

QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Dec 31, 2008 -> 12:49 AM) Has there been a huge crackdown on drunk driving back in Chicago, or is it just a California thing? Every other tv ad out here is about drunk driving, every other day the cops start randomly pulling people over for BS and the only thing they're looking for is drunk drivers. Tonight there was a DUI checkpoint near here which caused a 30 min traffic jam. There must have been 20 squad cars, 10 tow trucks, two TV cameras and a helicopter. I seem to remember back home you'd damn near have to get into an accident to get cited for a DUI. They're really stepping it up here in Tennessee. All sorts of DUI ads on TV and the radio. Lots of checkpoints. I think it's just b/c its the Holiday season and they know a lot of people drink at holiday parties and the sort...
