  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 22, 2008 -> 10:33 PM) I think you're right...actually, wasn't it some player we had just activated that week? Someone blamed it on Tillman on the radio today, but I'm not positive. It was Marcus Hamilton, signed off waivers from the Bucs the week before, who took the short read away (fullback i believe going into the flat) instead of sticking with the WR on the deep out-route. He was supposed to give up the short stuff b/c it wouldn't have gotten them in FG range, but f***ed up. I hate dumb players. It's one thing if they just don't have the speed, etc. to stay with someone, but mental errors make me more angry than anything.
  2. QUOTE (lostfan @ Dec 22, 2008 -> 10:51 PM) I was flipping out for most of the game, but god what an awesome game. That pretty much describes me too. I feel like all I was doing was yelling at the TV b/c of how terrible we were playing, and yet, we somehow came away with a win.
  3. This game f***ing sucks... I really don't know what else to say because, well, there really is nothing else to say. We are playing like dogs***.
  4. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 22, 2008 -> 03:53 PM) There are typically a couple WR pairs each season that are good choices to start each week. Think of Holt/Bruce, Wayne/Harrison, Moss/Welker, etc in years past. Unfortunately for me I was not stacked at WR this season so I was forced to go with Marshall/Royal. Figured they got me that far so why not? I don't blame you at all for going with those 2. The Broncos pass enough for them to each have good games. Hell, Cutler had 350+ yards. Who would have thought that he'd run for 2 TDs instead of passing for even 1?
  5. For you Southern Illinois fans... I just found out one of your basketball signees, Drew Barham, goes to my old high school. From what I've heard, he's the best player to come out of my high school in a long time, and while we have never been a powerhouse or anything, my high school is always pretty good. Been to the state championship 3 of the last 7 years, but lost every time - twice to Brendan Wright's high school team. That said, I don't know too much about him... Have yall heard anything good? What kind of player do you see him being?
  6. I haven't had the internet or cable for 2 days (Comcast f'd up something), and I was dying to hear if any trades happened. The first thing I did was hop on Soxtalk, and of course, not s***. Terribly disappointing.

    Your Hero revealed

Now that's a clever post... Someone taught me that trick when I was in elementary school. I remember going home and trying it on everyone in my family, lol
  8. QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Dec 21, 2008 -> 05:00 PM) People in Seattle are trippin about the snow they got. It doesn't snow there?? They get tons of rain, doesn't it turn to snow in winter??? I know... I would have thought it snows there, but one of the guys I live with is from Seattle (he's there right now), and he was crazy excited about the snow. Said it never snows.
  9. QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 20, 2008 -> 02:58 PM) This isn't meant to be sexist, but so is everyone woman who does play by play for sports. It's not sexist if it's true.
  10. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 20, 2008 -> 02:26 PM) Thats really central Ohio, I was talking about Southern Ohio near Cincinnati. Oh, I know... I just didn't realize the climates were that different for the Cincinnati area to not have snow plows, etc. It's not even 2 hours to Cincy from Columbus.
  11. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 22, 2008 -> 09:14 AM) As a Brees owner whom he helped to a championship, I believe you should retract him from that comment. Brees had both the touchdowns you speak of and had a decent day. Didn't Marshall put up like 12 points with a 120+ yard effort? You should complain about being the dude who took LT when all signs pointed to bad this year. Also, AP had an off-day, but never, EVER start two WR from the same team. Sorry to see you lost though, but your team was destined for failure! Not true if you have Fitzgerald and Boldin... or Fitzgerald and Breaston when Boldin was hurt, like I did.
  12. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Dec 20, 2008 -> 12:15 AM) http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/2008/1...-to-iowa-state/ HIRE HIM NOW GODDAMMIT That would be a heck of a pickup for you guys.
  13. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 19, 2008 -> 11:46 AM) Southern ohio is pretty mild, but literally as soon as an inch accumulated, everything shut down. We literally had ZERO plow trucks near school. Really? When I lived in Columbus, we had snow plows and everything. We never got out of school unless we had like 6 or 8 inches or something like that. Snow days were the best, though, when they did happen. Unfortunately, down South it only seems to "ice." Maybe a 1/4 of the time I got out of school here was because of actual snow. The other 75% of the time it was b/c of ice, which isn't fun for anyone. Ice only means more accidents (and maybe deaths) and no fun for the kids... Oh and Lostfan, having lived in the North and 2 parents from Chicago, I find it hilarious the way people freak out down here about possible snow. The shelves at the grocery store are barren with people "stocking up" on bread, bottled water, etc.
  14. QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Dec 19, 2008 -> 05:24 PM) Do someting with the talent, then declare him amazing. Um, National Championship game? I think we know what he can do when he has top of the line talent.
  15. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 19, 2008 -> 01:53 PM) I always argue this fact when people talk about Love Actually. I know it's not your position, but any dude friends that I have who say its a chick flick I just can't believe it. That movie is hilarious. Exactly. It's not your stereotypical chick-flick in that it appeals to men too b/c it is hilarious. It's not your gushy, typical romantic comedy all about love, etc. One of my best friend's and I always have to defend our reasons for liking "Love Actually" when all of our other friends give us s*** about it.
  16. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Dec 18, 2008 -> 09:35 PM) What a waste of talent... Btw, Heads, what is thundersnow? Is that just like a blizzard?
  17. Well this thread turned out to be interesting... As for the topic at hand, I would definitely like Garland back on this team, and I would absolutely do a 3 year deal for $8M/yr. Not sure if someone will end up overpaying for Jon, but I have a hard time believing someone will with the way this off-season has been going so far. I don't think $8M/year is all that unrealistic, even if it would be a pay-cut for him.
  18. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Dec 18, 2008 -> 11:30 AM) Lucero are a somewhat known band. They should be a lot bigger though. They are kinda the modern day The Replacements in that in twenty years everyone will talk about how they are one of the greatest bands of all time, but never had one "hit song". They are pretty good. I remember playing a bit of their music when I deejayed at the campus radio station last year.
  19. QUOTE (The Bones @ Dec 18, 2008 -> 05:30 PM) I'm very surprised and happy to see Love Actually made the list and I can't wait to see how the top 10 breaks down. Me too. I had it on my list, but I really didn't think other people would. When I didn't see it listed among the first few movies, I didn't think I'd see it make the list at all.
  20. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Dec 18, 2008 -> 08:22 AM) Des Moines sports radio reporting that Phillip Fulmer has shown serious interest in the Iowa State opening. That'd be weird. I wonder how true that really is... Most of what I've heard since it was announced Phil would be let go is that he would like to coach again, but the opportunity would have to be "special" because of what he's used to at Tennessee (facilities, recruiting budget, etc). Clemson was really the only open job this off-season that met his standards. Now, I'm not saying it's not possible for Phil to end up at Iowa State, but it would surprise the hell out of me. Also, though Tennessee recruits nationally, he really has no midwest ties. He grew up in Tennessee, played football at Tennessee, and has coached at Tennessee for the last 33 years. He's a southern guy. If I'm Iowa State, I'm finding a guy who has significant ties to Iowa/Illinois/Ohio, etc.
  21. PS3 some DVDs Duck Boots Patagonia hat vineyard vines tie Won't get it all, obviously, but just some of the things I said I'd like... I try to make it as easy as possible for my family, so I don't end up getting something I'll never use.
  22. Virginia Coalition - rock-ish The Lost Trailers - country... though not so small anymore; i've heard them on the radio recently, but most still haven't heard of them The Skinner Boys Band - country/southern rock Webb Wilder - rock
  23. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Dec 17, 2008 -> 08:04 PM) Yea, Spinny logo! True. The person below me is young enough that the classic holiday specials have always been available on VHS or DVD 265 days a year, and doesn't appreciate how special the once-a-year airings of these things were back in the olden days. True The person below me is having a hard time deciding what to get people for Christmas.
