QUOTE (scenario @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 12:58 AM) There's a spreadsheet link on this page that lists some more trades too. That spreadsheet is badass. Thanks for the link... It's crazy seeing names like Enemencio Pacheco and Humberto Qunitero that I've long since forgotten, but at the time, knew all about.

Rumors: Sox/Reds Talking Dye for Bailey Swap
dasox24 replied to Dick Allen's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 01:49 AM) The way I see it, the deal can't really be judged until a few things happen. First, and most obviously, you take it for face value. Bailey for Dye. If Bailey blows and Dye continues being a very productive OF, we lose the deal. Or, the opposite happens and Bailey turns out to be a stud, in which case, it doesn't matter what Dye does because of his age. Now, going deeper, you have to think we're going to use a good chunk of this money to sign some Free Agents or add some salary via trade. If we do end up signing 1 or 2 good free agents who help us in 2009, you have to consider it a smart deal. On the face of it, we lost the Carlos Lee trade by a mile, but with the money saved, we were able to sign some key people. This frees up even more money for us to make a run at Furcal or Dunn or Abreu or whoever. Yes, the White Sox are rebuilding, but they aren't packing it in. You'd be naive to think we wont use some of this money in Free Agency... Exactly. Couldn't have said it better myself... If this trade does end up happening, this is exactly the way it needs to be looked at. I just wish everyone would understand that. There's so much more than just looking strictly at the players involved and saying "We won this deal" or "we lost that deal" when it comes to KW making trades. -
QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 12:10 AM) And if we weren't cheap, we could have the No. 4 prospect in baseball. No offense to Poreda who will be ML ready sooner than Porcello, but I would rather take the risk with his talent than have drafted Poreda. I thought the exact same thing when I noticed Porcello was #4.

Rumors: Sox/Reds Talking Dye for Bailey Swap

QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 7, 2008 -> 09:27 PM) My totally inaccurate and spur-of-the-moment Sox starting lineup for 2009 is: 1- Furcal SS 2- Ramirez 2B 3- Quentin LF 4- Thome DH 5- Konerko 1B 6- Abreu RF 7- Fields 3B 8- AJP C 9- Taveras CF I could definitely live with that. In fact, I would love that. Our lineup could be nasty. And if Taveras got back to his 2007 form, we'd have a pretty stellar #9 hitter with pretty solid defense in CF. -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 7, 2008 -> 09:11 PM) I think Ozzie told KW he wanted him gone. The fact is that Viciedo might end up a much better player, and we can sign Ibanez, Dunn, Abreu or Burrell for a reasonable contract for 2 years and hold down the fort while the prospects are coming up and maturing in AA/AAA. I would absolutely love it if we signed Raul Ibanez. Dude is a badass and a Sox killer, so it would be nice having him on our side. -
Rumors: Sox/Reds Talking Dye for Bailey Swap

Oh man, not sure what I think of this... If this turns out to be true and all we get back is Bailey, I think we'll have to wait until the season starts to truly judge this trade. Essentially... see what we do with the money we save from trading Dye. If it's used to sign Furcal and someone else, then it would look like a good trade. However, I will absolutely miss Jermaine. He quickly became one of my favorite Sox players ever. -

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Dec 7, 2008 -> 08:21 PM) The SEC is by far the worst major conference in college basketball and it isn't even close. Outside of Tennessee I don't see a single good team in the conference. So true... the SEC should be an easy win for us this year. Too bad it's not good preparation for the tourney. -
oh my god... this is too funny

For those of you not familiar, Winston-Salem is commonly referred to as "the dash" (due to the dash b/t it's two words) by the people who live there. That's the reason they'll be called the Dash. Not saying I necessarily like the name, but I can understand why they named it that.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 4, 2008 -> 12:51 PM) I took a stupid bet once in college - that I could stay awake for 72 hours. I made it to 60. At about 52, the wall turned into a bat and came after me. I've done that. But, I did make it to 72 hours. And yes, you see some ridiculous s*** like a bat coming after you. I saw spiders on the floor that weren't really there and fell asleep mid-way walking up a staircase (but people were with me, so woke me up immediately). My favorite thing I saw was the chips and salsa across the room - I went running over to them b/c I was hungry only to find nothing there. It was a trippy experience to say the least.

QUOTE (Steff @ Dec 3, 2008 -> 11:42 PM) I went with the Canon Power Shot SD790 IS. The Casio was a very close second. Thanks for the help guys. Absolutely... I hope it treats you well.

QUOTE (Steff @ Dec 3, 2008 -> 08:18 PM) Do they play with windows media player? And how's the software? Easy to edit the pics? Yes, they do play on Windows Media Player. What kind of editing are you planning on doing with your pics? If you mean basic things like cropping pictures, etc., then yeah it's easy. I don't really edit my pictures besides those basics, so not sure I could tell you of any in-depth editing features. But, I've never found any problems with the software. I think it's easy to use.

QUOTE (Steff @ Dec 3, 2008 -> 07:49 PM) That's at the top of my list. Do the vid's record in .mpeg's? The videos on my computer that I have from it are .avi sorry, I didn't even think about checking that when I read your first post.

I love my Casio Exilim... Very easy to use and takes great pictures. My mom and sister also own one - that's how much we like that camera.

I love me some Julio Borbon. He was my favorite player when he was at Tennessee... Not saying I'd want to trade Poreda and Jenks for him, but I'd love adding him to the system if the price were a little more equal. Like John Ely, Justin Cassel, and Santos Rodriguez (or something like that) for Borbon and another prospect would be something I'd do.

QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 3, 2008 -> 03:48 AM) I'm thrilled by the amount of lists so far. I'm glad to hear there are a lot of lists. Doesn't surprise me much. It's the only "let's make a list" I've filled out b/c I just love Christmas. Definitely my absolute favorite holiday, and I think it's most people's favorite too. It's just such a festive season... christmas music, being with family, lights on houses, christmas trees, etc. There's just so much to love about Christmas. The gifts are about last on my list on reasons I love Christmas. It would be far and away my favorite holiday even without the presents Santa brings...

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 2, 2008 -> 10:35 AM) I don't think ANYONE would vote for the live action one. I know it got dogged by a lot of people, but I really like that version. I own it.

Now that I've realized Wood wasn't offered arbitration, I wouldn't be opposed to adding him to the bullpen. But, he'll want too much money and too long of a deal than we'd be willing to pay for an very injury-prone pitcher. If he came somewhat reasonable and we trade Jenks, it would definitely be worth looking into. Though, his injury history really scares me.

QUOTE (scenario @ Dec 3, 2008 -> 12:01 AM) The most impressive part of that... only 1 pitcher. And we have some pretty good pitching talent in the system. When was the last time we had 9 position players good enough to qualify among our top 10 prospects. Hell, I've been seriously following the minor leagues for about 8 years now (I know that's not much, but I'm only 20, lol), and not in that time... I'm so pumped about our re-vamped farm system. Can't wait to see this Vazquez deal become official tomorrow.

That Illinois game was just frustrating. What the hell was that last play about??? Absolutely inexcusable. On the bright side, Mike Davis just continues to show he's a f***ing badass. And Tisdale played terrible. I don't know why, but I just don't like him. When he was actually on the court, he turned it over, looked like a 7th grade B team basketball player trying to dribble, and couldn't even shoot (hell, I don't even think he attempted a shot). -
I use the Schick Quattro disposables, and they work great for me... Also, Tex is right about helping reduce irritation. If you shave with the grain, it won't be as close of a shave, but it will help against getting razor burn.

QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Dec 2, 2008 -> 06:12 PM) Right-handed pitcher Javier Vazquez has been told he's headed from the Chicago White Sox to the Atlanta Braves in a deal which is likely to be finalized on Wednesday. Vazquez is flying to Atlanta on Wednesday morning for a physical. A baseball source told ESPN's Peter Gammons that the deal will include four other players, including reliever Boone Logan, who would also go from the White Sox to the Braves. Among the players expected to go from Atlanta to the Chicago organization are Jo-Jo Reyes, Brett Lillibridge and another top prospect. Vazquez, 32, was 12-16 last season for the White Sox with a 4.67 ERA in 33 starts. He struck out 200 batters in 208 1/3 innings. Logan, a left-handed reliever, was 4-4 with a 5.70 ERA out of the White Sox bullpen last year. He had a 2-3 record in 55 appearances. Reyes was 3-11 with a 5.81 ERA last season for the Braves. He started 22 games. Lillibridge appeared in 90 games at Triple-A Richmond in the Braves organization. He hit .220 with four home runs and 39 RBIs. I can't say I'd be too pleased with either Reyes or Lillibridge, but whatever. Kenny knows more than I do... I can't wait until this thing goes official 'cause I really want to see who we actually get in return.
