That's pretty cool. What I found interesting is that my last name is most common in France, but all of my ancestors are from Ireland and my last name is of Celtic decent.

Interesting way to look at this... We actually had a discussion in my Business Administration class yesterday on whether it would be better to have a great leader for a boss or a great manager, and the class definitely went for Leader. However, being a leader is far more than giving good speeches and rallying people to action, which is what I feel some of you are associating being a leader with. Sometimes the best leaders just lead by example. Take Derek Jeter, for example. He's not a "rah rah, we're gonna go kick their ass" type of guy, but he's still the leader of the Yankees. He just goes out there, plays his ass off, and does his thing, and all the players respect the hell out of him for it. In the same way, I'm not sure McCain would ever have to go out and give some amazing speech to motivate the U.S. people. I think he could just simply do it by being himself and doing a damn good job as President. Now, I'm not saying that means McCain is the better leader, b/c lord knows Obama can give one hell of a speech which does have an effect on people, but I'm not sure it's as clear-cut as some think. Just trying to point out there's no easy answer to this question, but it is a good question to answer.

QUOTE (zenryan @ Sep 3, 2008 -> 08:25 PM) congrats chimpy! must be refreshing to know a new era is starting for the noles. Hopefully Bowden doesnt have the quick hook when Ponder goes through his struggles. Hey zenryan, you're a pretty big Miami fan, right? What do you think about Cannon Smith? He was sort of a friend of mine freshman year of high school, so I'm just curious what you think about him... He was awful in high school, but it seems like he's grown some and has actually improved a bit. He definitely has character issues, though, with his DUI/possession of ecstasy charge a couple years ago, and the fact that he attended 4 different schools before getting into Miami. -

Well, Buenning is a solid pickup by the Bears. If healthy, he could be a pretty decent starting OG. He's better than what we currently have, at least. -
QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Sep 1, 2008 -> 11:48 PM) That's what I'm talking about in the first part of my post, with the collar. Same doctor. Wow, sorry Dasox. Totally missed that. You called it way earlier than my dumbass picked up on it. Haha, no, it's cool. I just love the Lost talk. Some of my buddies and I were just talking about Lost yesterday and how we couldn't wait for the start of next season even though it's still months away.

I'm so f***ing pissed right now. f*** that game. That was the biggest piece of s*** performance I have ever seen out of a football team. What the hell just happened??? UCLA didn't win that game. Tennessee lost it. f*** those damn refs and their bulls*** calls and terrible spots all game. How the f*** that wasn't a safety in the 3rd quarter still has me confused. The guy's entire body was in the endzone. The ball, if anything, was on the goal line, not passed it. Then, they gave them an extra foot on the spot of the ball, though we really f***ed ourselves with penalties. -
QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Sep 1, 2008 -> 09:11 PM) So I stumbled on a theory today that makes a ton of sense to me. Ok, so of the major themes of LOST has been polar bears on the island. They have always left the mystery of what purpose they serve on the island, and why they are present. So jump to Charlotte finding the polar bear skeleton in the desert, along with the collar. How did it get there? What we do know is that after Ben turned the giant donkey wheel to move the island, he woke up in a very similar desert. What he also told us is that once you turn the wheel, you can never return to the island. If you remember, the room was very cold. So, getting to the point, has DHRAMA along with the Others used Polar Bears to turn the wheel in other instances? Is that why they are there, to serve as pawns to turn the wheel, so people don't have to leave the island? Remember, when Sawyer was trapped in the Polar Bear cage, Tom told him it only took the Polar Bears a few hours to figure out how to get the fish treat from the cage, obviously training them. Makes sense to me, and takes care of my LOST fix for a while. Looks eerily similar to a theory I posted a few months ago... QUOTE (dasox24 @ May 30, 2008 -> 05:18 PM) Anyone think the Polar Bears were used to "move" the island, which is why they found polar bear remains in Tunisia, the same place (I assume) Ben ends up after he "moves" the island?

QUOTE (zenryan @ Aug 30, 2008 -> 09:27 PM) This is why the SEC is so much better than everyone else. They have so many elite coaches in that conference its not even funny. Clemson has talent but Alabama is so prepared and basically shut down Clemson. Look at how many coaches in the SEC have national title rings. Saban Miles Spurrier Meyer Fulmer Then you add Richt, Tuberville, Petrino, Nutt. Unbelievable. Exactly. The coaching in the SEC is just unreal. When Steve Spurrier is probably considered the 5th or 6th best coach in the conference, you know the caliber of coaching is ridiculous. -

That ECU-VT game was a fun one to watch. East Carolina just never gave up, and I liked seeing Va Tech get a taste of their own medicine for once - losing a game b/c of special teams. -
So Allen had 2 HRs, 7 RBI??? What a beast!

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Aug 27, 2008 -> 11:01 PM) Those archives are fun to look at. Yeah, they are. It was kinda cool to read through a few posts to see what kind of stuff I was writing 3 or 4 years ago. I know I used to post on the ESPN/WSI boards when I was in 5th or 6th grade (probably one of the the youngest posters ever), and (sadly) I probably knew more than the average Sox fan. I took a couple years away from posting, but always read Soxnet.net until I remember reading one thread that really got me the urge to post, so I went ahead and signed up for Soxtalk... Wish I was able to be around here more often, but I'll find days when I don't have much to do (which isn't often unfortunately) and I'll just read through ST for hours.

I hate morning classes, which is why my earliest class is at 11:15. I've never had anything before 11:15 in my 2 1/2 years of college, expect for a biology lab (at 8 am), but it was only 1 day a week so it wasn't too bad.

I don't typically wear athletic shorts to class unless I'm in a serious hurry. My normal attire is khaki shorts (or some sort of dress shorts) and a t-shirt. I don't over-dress, but I don't like to under-dress, especially with all the good looking women around campus. Also, I agree on the backpack chest strap. Helpful when say, oh, climbing a mountain; pointless when walking around a college campus. One in-class pet peeve of mine: I hate when people start packing up all their s*** right before the teacher is about to stop teaching. I mean, what is waiting 10 more seconds going to hurt? We all know class is about to get out. There's no point in zipping up your bag and standing up to leave when the teacher is trying to make last-second announcements. Oh, and lastly, I always need my phone, wallet, and keys before leaving for class. Before I leave anywhere, I always check for those 3 items. They're a must have.
