QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 10:44 AM) Is it really surprising to people that Anderson made this? He's had his own fan club on here for 4 years now. I love the fact that he's been productive this year, as I think even his biggest fans on this site wrote him out of the organization after last year. I'm shocked he wasn't a lot higher. Now, if I see the following players on this list, I might have to make some negative remarks: D'Angelo Jimenez Oh man, good ol' D'Angelo Jimenez. When we first got him, I really thought he was gonna be our 2B of the future... I went to a Redbirds (Cards' AAA team) game a couple weeks ago, and Jimenez hit the go-ahead 2-run double, which won the game for them. I cheered like crazy (more as a joke than anything) for the guy b/c I used to like him at the beginning of his stint with us. Though, by the time he got traded I was more than ready to see him go...

That's terrible and (seemingly) unexpected. He's definitely a guy I always liked as an actor/comedian... 50 is just so young. My thought and prayers will go out to his family.

QUOTE (SoxFan101 @ Aug 9, 2008 -> 05:19 AM) I heard on the radio that some US Coach had been stabbed to death, I think they said it was of the volleyball team. Actually, it was a relative of the volleyball coach, but still very sad regardless... The murderer committed suicide after the attack. -
Damn, $1 billion worth of marijuana plants have been destroyed in the Sequoia National Forest. Some cartel drug lord has to be furious right now.

QUOTE (farmteam @ Jul 20, 2008 -> 01:44 PM) Also, don't forget Cut the Grass vs. Mow the Lawn. Which phrase do Chicagoans use? Just curious b/c those are pretty interchangeable with me, but I definitely say "mow the lawn" more often. And while I'm not from Chicago, the rest of my entire family is, so I assume I picked up one of those phrases from my Chicago roots.

The last couple of outings for both Poreda and Ely have been absolutely rock solid. Can't wait to see what happens with Poreda come September... Always nice seeing Shelby do well. He's had himself quite a season. Let's hope he keeps it up. And Retherford went hitless for what seems like the 1st time in forever. Guess it had to happen sooner or later, lol.

If the Dolphins end up cutting John Beck, what a waste of a draft pick. I mean, it always has been kind of a waste considering he was drafted much higher than he was supposed to be and was 25 years old. But, to go from 2nd rounder to cut in a matter of a year and a half would be pretty bad, especially at a position that team needs so badly. -
QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 09:31 PM) They need to get rid of Vina. The guy... repeats himself and even what he says is the obvious. Sounds like most of the "experts" on ESPN unfortunately, which is why I only watch their shows for highlights.

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 06:56 PM) You must be talking about another Carlos Gomez. The fella that Hawk described is 9 feet tall, runs 110 mph, and is Jackie Robinson reborn. He makes Cy Young pitchers poop in their pants, and he is the most feared man in baseball. So he's kinda like Bill Brasky...

Booya! Good job, AJ. I'll take 1 run.

QUOTE (tommy @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 06:35 PM) Juan Uribe with a first base hit for our White Sox tonight. YAY! That's two nights in a row. Not sure if that's a good thing (Juan heating up?) or a bad thing (no one but Juan has gotten a hit by the 3rd)...

QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 02:57 PM) Roberto Garza graces the cover of Madden 09 en ESPANOL! discuss. Pretty funny. Not sure why it has to be different, unless Garza is a big role model in the hispanic community or something... I wonder if the hispanic kids that see this get all excited that they're favorite player is on the cover of Madden? I think not. -
Gotta love the Milkman. I didn't make a list b/c I'm lazy, but if I had, he would have definitely been on it.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 05:37 AM) It looks like the Bears might bring the worst OT in the NFL from last year back (Fred Miller). UGH. How disappointing... -

Man calls 911 after Subway left sauce off sandwich

I heard the audio clip on the O'Reilly Factor (i think) last night, and couldn't help but laugh. But, in all seriousness, it's dumbasses like this that clog up the phone lines for real emergencies. -
Make the best possible bullpen out of ex-Sox

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 12:10 AM) How that geek/goofball Brian Austin Green from 90210 was lucky enough to win her over, I'll never know. However, with her fame ascending and his descending, I don't think it's fated to last forever. Who knows, she does have quite the tattoo with a reference to him. Last I heard, she broke it off. Just an FYI -
QUOTE (Texsox @ Aug 7, 2008 -> 10:57 AM) ^^^^^^ It seems the old fashioned cassette adapters actually worked better. I wish I still had a cassette player in my car for this exact reason. I love how my old ass '92 Ford Taurus I drove until last year got better sound for my iPod than my newer 2002 Taurus. It's all right, though. When I buy a new car in a couple years, I'll make sure it has a direct input.

Make the best possible bullpen out of ex-Sox
dasox24 replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Man, we really have had some solid relievers pass our way over the years. If I had to form a 7-man bullpen with those guys, I think I'd take: Matt Guerrier Damaso Marte Chad Bradford Bobby Seay Jason Grilli Frank Francisco Jon Rauch -
I feel like Retherford hasn't gone hitless in forever. Moreso, he keeps having multi-hit games... .292, 16, and 62 on the season. Keep it up, CJ!

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Aug 7, 2008 -> 03:06 AM) Video that was shown at Comic-Con about two weeks ago. Not sure what to think. Looks like this season is going to get really wacky. I can't wait. Hmm, not really sure what to think either. I had a little trouble hearing what he was saying, but maybe it was supposed to be that way. So are Jack and the gang going to have to try to save the Dharma people by going back in time before the Purge?... Anyway, can't wait for next season!

As much as I may disagree with the man's politics, it's always nice to have another well-known Sox fan around. -

QUOTE (BearSox @ Aug 6, 2008 -> 09:36 PM) He did the right thing. With Thome running and the fact that the ball was hit very hard, you want the runner to get caught to ensure the runner scores. Gotcha. I'm listening to the game on the radio, so I couldn't see it. They didn't really explain the situation.
