  1. But seriously, it's so frustrating knowing that no matter how well Javy pitches to a certain point of the game, you know he's gonna have that one bad inning before he gets pulled, negating all good he might have done...
  2. I'd also like to point out just how stacked the SEC East is and why it's the toughest division of any conference in America. Everybody knows about how awesome Florida and Georgia are, but the team everyone is picking 3rd (Tennessee) is also the team that won the SEC East last year and almost beat LSU in the SEC Championship if not for an Eric Ainge meltdown in the 4th quarter. They are also the team that really only loses its average QB from last year's team, but replaces him with a former 5-star recruit who has more tools than Ainge could ever dream of. They return their top 3 rushers, top 4 receivers, all starting OL. The offense should be set. The Defense loses Jerod Mayo, which is a big loss, but has practically everyone else back, including S Demetrice Morely who missed all of last season. The 1st 5 guys on the depth chart at the CB spot have all started before and gotten serious playing time. The problem for UT is that not only are Florida and Georgia incredibly good as well this year, but every SEC team (except Vandy) that plays UT has a bye week before their UT game. Also, UT goes 9 weeks without a bye week. Talk about a s*** schedule for the Vols...
  3. Alabama is okay. Could be a Top 25 team this year, but I think they'll finish 3rd or 4th in the SEC West, after LSU, Auburn, and possibly Ole Miss. Georgia is so overrated it's not funny. Don't get me wrong, they'll be a very good team. But, they won't win the SEC. Everyone picking them to go to the National Championship will end up wrong. I like where Illinois and Tennessee are ranked. Rank either of them too high and it goes to their heads, but ranking them where they are is a good mix of respect and putting a chip on their shoulders due to how they finished last year and who they return this year. It most importantly allows them to fly under the radar, and UT normally has their best seasons when they are picked lower than normal, which has me very excited about this year... I'll be going to the Wake Forest-Ole Miss game this year since a couple of my buddies are from Winston-Salem and want to go back to that game. I'm pretty excited, though it will be weird seeing a major college football game in such a small stadium when I'm used to the ~107,000 person crowds.
  4. Just got home from work... In my mind, we didn't give up much at all. Don't like Richar much and Masset can easily be replaced. Don't see how this deal is bad for the Sox, unless you don't like the fact that Paulie will be getting benched. I must say that (I know his stats aren't the greatest, but...) just having Griffey on the Sox is something I would have never thought I'd see. It is pretty cool having one of the greatest of all time on the team, even if he's not what he used to be.
  5. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Jul 29, 2008 -> 10:14 AM) Rylan is about 6'7 315 pounds now, which is especially impressive putting up 600+ at 6'7. Always wanted to see him and Brian West out there dominating on the mound with their size, but it never worked out on the mound. What ever happened to West after he left LSU and returned to the Sox? Got any idea where he is now? Out of baseball, I presume. I remember he was actually a pretty good backup DE for LSU. Got some decent playing time on that National Championship team a few years ago.
  6. I had to be at work at 5 am today for work, and never have I felt so good when waking up that early. Not sure why. It was weird waking up at the time I'm normally going to bed.
  7. Oh wow, I had no idea Reed was playing football. I always remember he was a huge guy, but he has to be pretty massive now if he's playing LT and throwing up over 600 lbs.
  8. Halladay being on this team would be ridiculous. We just don't have the assets to do it. Yes, we have some high potential guys in the lower minors, but the Blue Jays would want as much of a "sure-thing" as they could get, and we don't have that to offer prospect-wise.
  9. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 24, 2008 -> 05:09 PM) Should start with 2 firsts and a 3rd, at an absolute minimum. I'm talking about a really, really one-sided trade here where the other team thinks they scored big. I agree. If you trade a guy like Hester, you have to get multiple high picks in return.
  10. If we make a trade with the Dodgers, maybe we can convince them to throw in Pablo Ozuna as a Utility guy... Seriously, though, I'd absolutely love it if we traded O-Cab for Matt Kemp. That would pretty much solidify 2/3 of our OF for the next 10 years. However, what the hell would we do with Konerko if we added another OF'er? I mean, he can't really sit on the bench, can he? I would almost be afraid to put him there b/c if he does heat up at all, that would be a huge addition to this team.
  11. QUOTE (Boogua @ Jul 20, 2008 -> 06:01 PM) Illini just got commitments from Hawthorne and Hopkins out of East St. Louis... Hawthorne is a 4 star WR and Hopkins has a ton of upside. This also looks good in terrms of Illinois getting Appleton. Another good day for the Illini... I would expect Appleton to commit sometime soon. Scheelchase, Hawthorne, Appleton = Illinois looking set for the future of their passing game.
  12. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Jul 20, 2008 -> 12:39 AM) Markham with the head kick KO, what a sight. That was pretty badass... I've never really watched any UFC fights until tonight, and man did I enjoy that! UFC just gained a new fan.
  13. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 17, 2008 -> 04:09 PM) This is an indication of just how much the Sox think of Adam Russel. I really believe the Sox feel this guy will be one of there primary set-up men two years from now. I hope so... It'll be nice when all these White Sox fans and reporters are trying to figure out information on this badass set-up man, and my FutureSox interview with him comes up 2nd on Google. I re-read my interview with him last week, and I must say, I did a damn good job, lol.
  14. $3.89 - 3.91 at most stations around Memphis. I feel lucky compared to what most of y'all are paying, but it's still a b****.
  15. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 17, 2008 -> 11:04 AM) You want to post politics, get out of this thread and go into the buster. Any political posts or bashes relating to the president which occur from here on within this thread will result in an immediate suspension. Thank you. It's amazing how some people have the audacity to take what should be a pretty cool thread about the President of the United States following Danks' career and turn it into a political attack on Bush. This is baseball, not politics. I'm disappointed in a few good posters who surprised me with their political comments... As for this thread, that's really darn cool. If I found out that the President knew who I was, that would be one of the coolest feelings in the world.
  16. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 17, 2008 -> 12:42 PM) Been watching the last 3 seasons of "Weeds". What a great show. Halfway through season 3 right now. I need to start watching that. My brother owns the 1st 2 seasons. I should borrow them. I, myself, have just finished watching the 1st 2 seasons of Prison Break, and am 2 episodes into Season 3. I had never seen the show, but heard good things, and now I'm hooked.
  17. Well, I first used "dasox24" in 6th grade on WSI or one of those other message boards. dasox = The Sox (stupid now that i think about it... at the time i thought it was cool b/c of those SNL skits where it sounds like the Superfans are saying "da" instead of "the") And '24' is b/c #24 was my football number in 6th grade. That was a long long time ago, like 9 years ago, but I've never wanted to change the #.
  18. QUOTE (Benchwarmerjim @ Jul 16, 2008 -> 10:36 PM) thats a great pic It was so weird (yet, kinda cool) when that happened to see a Sox player celebrating like that with a Twins player. Only in an All-Star game...
  19. QUOTE (DBAH0 @ Jul 17, 2008 -> 09:53 AM) Just on Getz vs. Richar, if there was an opening at 2nd base next season, who would you rather start b/w these 2? Getz
  20. Huge, Huge get for the Illini. This was a guy that had a lot of "connections" to other schools (Iowa and Oklahoma), but they still managed to get the kid. When the kid's dad played football at Iowa and they were able to pull him away, that really says something about Zook and his coaching staff.
  21. Son of a b****... I always liked Schnur. I had big hopes for the guy when we took him out of high school in Nevada.
  22. Rick Reilly is awful. Got in one more stupid comment before going off-air. "Hamilton rented the tux, bought the flowers, paid for dinner, blah, blah, blah, but Morneau got to kiss the girl" or whatever the hell he said. That's dumb as s***.
