QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 29, 2015 -> 10:14 AM) He could choose to just take a Bulls 1 year offer. If he accepts any other teams deal, then we match and he's with us at least 3 years. Reality is he probably works something out with the Bulls for a 4 or 5 year deal with an opt out in 2 years but I don't know if the Bulls are going to play hard ball and see if he really waits and signs for super cheap. If he did sign super cheap this year, might change things as Bulls could find a way to get cap space and be major players and then hope to sign someone else and then you can just pay massive tax and use the bird rights on Jimmy Buckets after you win the title. PS: If Butler and Rose don't get along, Rose is gone. Find a way but Jimmy is the Alpha on this squad. All that said I hope they can both make amends and would think with Rose's personality they probably could. Agreed. If there is any truth to these rumors, see ya Derrick. But like you said, I'll worry about that when the time actually comes. For now, Jimmy is stuck with us for at least 1 year (which, btw, would be stupid and a huge gamble on his part if he only takes the 1 year tender offer).

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 18, 2015 -> 02:09 PM) Never do a Gatlinburg trip then. The surrounding areas are amazing and beautiful, but the town itself is tourism hell. The more I hear this from people from all over, the more I realize how lucky I was to go to college in East Tennessee. It's perfect for all types of outdoor activities - hiking, camping, white water rafting, canoeing, kayaking, fly fishing, etc. I went hiking and camping a good bit, but probably not as much as I should have. I love going back.

I went to Disney World for the first time as a 23 year old. After wanting to go my whole childhood (and it just not working out for whatever reason), my college graduation present was a surprise trip to Disney World with my family. It was awesome.

The case for drafting Aiken or Matuella
dasox24 replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in FutureSox Board
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 26, 2015 -> 11:22 AM) If he goes to UCLA he can't be drafted for the next three years. He runs the risk of becoming Matt Harrington. That's what he is leaving behind. Forgot all about Matt Harrington. What an idiot. I'm all for taking a chance on Aiken based on the same parameters that many of you have mentioned: checks out okay with our medical staff and Coop. So many picks never pan out anyway that I'm willing to take a chance on him if we think he'll hold up physically. -
I was in Nashville for Memorial Day weekend, and I was pleasantly surprised by the number of people rocking Blackhawks gear there. I know Nashville has sort of become a popular destination for Chicagoans, but seeing it firsthand was cool. One of the bars I was at even had a huge Blackhawks flag in it. Thought that was kind of shocking considering this bar was about 2 blocks from Bridgestone Arena, where the Preds play.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ May 18, 2015 -> 11:43 PM) Charleston/Savannah/Tybee Island/Atlanta for the next week. Can't wait. Damn. I'm assuming your trip is over now based on when you posted this. But if not and you need suggestions on what to do in ATL, let me know.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ May 15, 2015 -> 09:20 AM) I don't know anything about the Ravens guy, but I have no problem with hiring anyone from that front office. Agreed. Plus, I respect Daniel Jeremiah a lot, so this was a nice tweet to see:

I'm in Baltimore for work and got off early today, so I drove to Gettysburg and toured the civil war site (national park). What a tremendous experience. Would definitely recommend it.

What a shot. We deserved that win.

QUOTE (Tex @ May 7, 2015 -> 11:05 AM) One company I worked for would have two or three group in the Monday ProAm at the Greater Milwaukee Open and one in the Wednesday. In 1996 we played well as a team but we lost to a team that had an amateur that was about to make his professional debut the next day, Eldrick Woods. Wow, that's really awesome.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 25, 2015 -> 10:59 AM) Tyler Jay - Slight lefty with a big fastball. The top pick from the B1G. Has been pitched exclusively out of the pen at U of I to the dismay of many baseball writers. Keith Law loves him. The view on him is that he could be an elite reliever but some team will think they can make a starter out of him. I am sure the Sox will be tied to him given their history with pitchers. 0-1 lifetime against raBBit after a tough 3-2 loss many Memorial Days ago. From Lemont, Illinois and Lemont High School. I enjoyed this part. Well done.

I got a chance to play in a charity golf tournament for the Boys and Girls Club of Atlanta yesterday. My boss couldn't go, so he asked me to fill in. Besides the fact that I got to take the day off work, it was a beautiful day (80 and sunny) and I played really well. And it didn't hurt that the course was well stocked with beer and other drinks/snacks. Now I just have to find a way to do this more often.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 4, 2015 -> 10:48 AM) there were some twitter rumors that the Bears were extremely frugal with UDFA this year because they want to make a run at Collins That would be fantastic if true (and he isn't implicated, which so far it sounds like he's not a suspect).

QUOTE (scs787 @ May 2, 2015 -> 07:29 PM) I like Langford, just didn't see the need. I wouldn't be surprised if Fangio and Donatell do the same thing they did with Jimmie Ward to Amos, and that's make him a nickel CB. He was really good in coverage. Not sure if the link will work because Im apparently bad at tableting but here's a good little write up on Amos..... https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2015/...g-to-work-with/ Says he lined up over the slot a lot and QBs had just a 13.0 NFL passer rating throwing his way. Good stuff. Thanks for the link. I didn't know much about Amos at all, so I'm still trying to get a feel for him. For a 5th round pick, I can't complain.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 1, 2015 -> 06:05 AM) Only three of those teams actually drafted those guys, and Meachem was a bust. Most of those WR wound up being released or traded for pennies on the dollar. 5 of those teams actually drafted those guys and 2 traded 1st round picks to get a WR (which is the same as using your 1st round pick on a WR). You're grasping... And the point remains the same regardless of how good the WRs actually were. You said teams that win the Super Bowl don't use 1st round picks on WRs. Well, it turns out that they do.
-
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 30, 2015 -> 09:57 PM) Calvin Johnson, AJ Green, Dez Bryant, Larry Fitzgerald - 0 super bowl titles. You have to build inside out. I hate the pick. But don't worry, guy will go for 1,400 and 10 TD regularly, and the Bears will miss the playoffs regularly, too. Look at the teams winning Super Bowls. They don't invest in WR in the draft. I think the highest picked WR to win a super bowl the last decade Is Hakeem Nicks at 29. I think you're trying to make something out of nothing. Many of the SB winners over the last 16 years have had 1st-round WRs on their team. Let's take a quick look at SB winners since 2000. 8 of the 16 have had 1st round WRs on their team. Now, they didn't necessarily all draft those guys. But in instances like Keyshawn and Harvin, their teams gave up 1st rounders to get them. Or with Plaxico, the Giants dished out a big contract to get him from the Steelers. To me, having to do that is the same as actually using a 1st round pick on a WR. Rams - Torry Holt Bucs - Keyshawn Johnson Colts - Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne Giants - Plaxico Burress Steelers - Santonio Holmes Saints - Robert Meachem Giants - Hakeem Nicks Seattle - Percy Harvin There are many ways to build a team. Selecting a WR in the 1st round does not seem to correlate to not winning super bowls.

QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 30, 2015 -> 07:37 PM) I love how everyone believes in BPA until push comes to shove and they want to draft need. Glad Pace did what he believes in. Marshall was the Ozzie Guillen of bears. His time was done. Good post. I wasn't a huge fan of White coming into the draft, but I liked him well enough. I'm more than fine with the pick. The Bears were in a tough spot. No one else was really worthy of the 7th pick. Just a tough year to have the 7th pick with this being such a weak draft.
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 30, 2015 -> 08:04 PM) So do you think they take White if the Marshall move never occurred? Yes. If he was BPA, then you have to. It's why the Jets took Leonard Williams even though they have 2 Pro Bowl guys who play his position in Wilkerson and Richardson.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Apr 30, 2015 -> 12:50 PM) @RossTuckerNFL: Eagles. Wow. RT: @975TheFanatic: Tim McManus "Two 1sts, future 2nd rd, Cox, Kendricks, and Vinny Curry is the latest package in deal." There's no way. That would be insane.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 29, 2015 -> 10:36 AM) I hope the Bears take Amari Cooper. Polian said he's Reggie Wayne with speed. Gruden compared him to Tim Brown, which is a comparison I like a lot. Wayne/Brown...either way, I'm all about that. I just hope we truly go BPA. I'd be happy with mostly of the guys projected to go in our range, except Scherff. He was extremely unimpressive against Tennessee in the bowl game. Dude was getting beat bad by our freshman DE. I see why most people say he projects as an OG.

I'm am admittedly not a die-hard by any means. I would never try to act like that. But I always watch every Blackhawks playoff game. What a game. -
Congrats Jason! For a second I was trying hard to remember if you mentioned you were having a 2nd child when we went to the Sox game last summer. And then I realized that it is now April and that was 10 months ago. Time flies...

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 9, 2015 -> 02:14 PM) I am really sad that Peanut is going to play football for another franchise. Wish Peanut the best and thank him for the way he went about his business and for his exceptional play. He will always be a Bear!!! This sums up my feelings too. Hope he can stay healthy this year and still play some good football.
