  1. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jun 27, 2008 -> 02:16 PM) Kevin Love is awesome. Absolutely... I loved that he knew who they were and the shout out about the cheese doodles. Had to have been pretty cool for those guys knowing how popular their Stephen A. bashing has become.
  2. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 11:05 PM) BEER!!!! "Beer is liquid bread, it's good for you..." Hahahaha, that's great!
  3. QUOTE (moragasoxfan @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 12:07 PM) The change and slider are both progressing, and he is throwing them more often in key game situations. He's been working to get the velocity of the change down into the low 80s and still maintain the appearance of the FB (arm speed, mechanics, etc). With the slider, the main thing that he's working on now is command. He often has a target for how many off speed pitches to throw in a game. However, since they're still a work in progress, sometimes it costs him (in terms of BB, ERA, etc). In his last start he threw about 25 offspeed pitches (out of 90). Thanks the the info. It's always nice to have someone around here with information the average person can't get.
  4. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 24, 2008 -> 02:57 AM) Well, not every high school player is highly recruited and don't get to go to college for free. I'd have to imagine if you're good enough to get drafted, you'd be good enough to get a scholarship to play ball somewhere.
  5. QUOTE (jenks45monster @ Jun 24, 2008 -> 02:10 AM) On ESPN today they were talking about some high school kid trying to get around the "One and done" college rule by possibly playing one year of pro ball in Europe. Eh, I wouldn't read too much into into. There's been talk of that every year since the rule was implemented and no one has ever done it.
  6. Great game right there. Loved seeing Slayer hitting a HR...
  7. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Jun 19, 2008 -> 12:51 AM) This video is so NSFW it's not funny. But this kid is really talented and just 17. Haha, I didn't realize that kid had other songs.... I've just heard this one: 3.14 Apple Pie... NSFW
  8. Can't argue with that too much, but Crede and Ramirez are having very similar years (if Crede was his usual self at defense, i think he'd get the nod for sure) so that's a toss-up. I hate to say it, but Soto is better than AJ. And I'd take Dye over Fukudome. Swisher/Reed is also a toss-up...
  9. So, yesterday I found out one of my buddies led Division 1 this year with a 1.14 ERA in 71.3 IP (25 appearances). Yeah, no idea until I looked at his stats and saw his ERA and wanted to compare it to others. And then low and behold, he was #1, lol... Anyway, his name is Matt Packer and plays at Virginia. He was the Sunday starter for UVA last year as a freshman, but was moved to the pen this year. He got a couple saves as well as some spot starts, so he was kinda the do-it-all pitcher for them. He's a great kid, smart as hell, and a lefty with a nasty 12-6 curve. I really hope the Sox draft him either next year or more likely the year after. Just someone to keep an eye on for next year...
  10. QUOTE (chimpy2121 @ Jun 14, 2008 -> 04:55 PM) Tony Delmonico might be the worst defensive player in the history of baseball. Thanks for f***ing up a routine double play, hit right f***ing to you. How he got drafted in the 7th round or whatever, I'll never know. Oh, so that's where Delmonico went after his dad got fired at Tennessee... Yeah, he's a good player, but we always felt like he was over-rated here at UT.
  11. QUOTE (He_Gawn @ Jun 17, 2008 -> 05:33 PM) Negedu to Tennesee. In the words of Stuart Scott (even though he sucks)... Booya! Hadn't heard about it till I read your post, so thanks.

I've watched Blood Diamond, Breach, I Am Legend, and I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry in the last 2 nights (kinda on a movie spree), and I liked them all. Blood Diamond was a really good movie, one that I will probably buy. Breach was good too, and it made me feel sorry for Robert Hanssen, which is weird b/c the dude was a huge traitor to this country and I don't want to feel sorry for him. I Am Legend was a little different than I expected, and the ending came upon me quickly; I didn't really expect it. And, Chuck and Larry was pretty funny. Glad I rented it, but don't think I'd buy it. Oh, and Batman Begins is on for tonight in preparation of The Dark Knight...
  13. QUOTE (greasywheels121 @ Jun 14, 2008 -> 06:39 PM) Too funny... this guys needs to learn about the use of a pause when speaking...
  14. Damn, I'm so pissed. I meant to Tivo this game b/c I had to work... How'd Slayer look?
  15. Was Loaiza that bad?? I haven't been able to watch any games since we picked him up, but it seemed like he was doing okay.
  16. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Jun 12, 2008 -> 01:21 PM) Can we add Carmen Electra...? Fixed... And yes. If you're gonna have a three-some, you might as well make some more room and make it a four-some
  17. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Jun 12, 2008 -> 01:31 PM) #16, if it is pre-hepatitus. Have to agree with ya there...

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 10, 2008 -> 11:48 PM) Kate Mara is the most underrated hot chick on earth me thinks. Oh, absolutely. I didn't even realize it was her at first... She needs to be in more movies.

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jun 10, 2008 -> 07:39 PM) It's a terrible movie, but I love it. What a great/bad flick. So true. It really is a bad movie, but every time it's on, I end up watching it. On a side note, I watched Shooter last night and I thought it was a pretty good movie. The ending seemed a bit rushed, but the action was great.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 9, 2008 -> 06:44 PM) It's official, his nickname has to be slayer. Can you imagine announcers having to explain the origin of that nickname if it really stuck?
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 9, 2008 -> 06:50 PM) So Poreda is to AA in a year's time? That is pretty impressive. Yeah, definitely impressive. Let's just hope Beckham can do the same.
  22. QUOTE (DBAH0 @ Jun 9, 2008 -> 07:23 PM) I'm living with a bunch of Brits and they're all moaning and whining. Not me though, although today was a bit much. Just so humid in New York, way more than I expected. Just be happy you're not in the Southeast. The humidity is just brutal...
  23. I'm so glad we have Coop. I really think he might be the best pitching coach in major league baseball. I know that's a bold statement (and a bit biased), but I do believe it's true.
