QUOTE(Markbilliards @ Jan 29, 2008 -> 11:27 PM) I've actually found a lot minor leaguers from the Sox organization. Yes, there are quite a few guys who have a Facebook account. It has actually helped me in that I've sent them messages asking to confirm/deny stuff that I've written about them in some write-ups for FutureSox. i.e. Justin Cassel informed me that he had an older brother in the Padres organization that i did not know about.

Sweet stuff! And thanks for the info on the service time. I was wondering about that myself.

Well, Illinois picked up a DE commitment, Ugo Uzodinma, from Dunbar H.S. in D.C. 6'4'' 240, 4.6... Pretty good #'s... Originally came down to Virginia and Illinois, picked Virginia b/c of Mike London. But when London was named head coach at Richmond, Ugo wanted to play for the Illini. Oh, and Compton re-affirmed his commitment to Nebraska. -
QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Jan 23, 2008 -> 10:48 AM) Columbus doesn't surprise me at all. It's one of the few cities in the midwest that I think I could move back to and be happy. Thanks to having the largest University in the country in the middle of the place, there's a pretty vibrant cultural life. Plus High Street=Fun. Yep, for sure. I just thought it was funny b/c people were saying Paris and London, and I came in here with Columbus. But yes, great city. I think I would like to go to grad school at The OSU.

Absolutely awful. I was really shocked when I heard about this. Just not the type of guy you'd expect to die like this... I love "10 Things I Hate About You" and thought he was great in that. Gonna be weird watching that movie now.

This one may surprise yall... 1) Columbus, OH 2) Chicago, IL

QUOTE(gbuk @ Jan 23, 2008 -> 12:51 AM) Man that was truly awesome. Gillispie is an insanely good coach. Eh, Tennessee hugely beat themselves. Can't wait till KY comes to Thompson-Boling. Let's see how well Gillispie can coach then... Anyway, hope Kentucky has fun battling the rest of the year for a NIT bid. -
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jan 21, 2008 -> 02:26 AM) - Money has to be facing the same way, and needs to be in order from singles up. - Never finish a basketball game/baseball game without hitting a shot or throwing a strike. Those two things are both definite for me. As far as others go: - I always hit the "lock" button on my car twice to make sure it's locked. - Can't really think right now, but there's definitely more.

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jan 15, 2008 -> 06:33 PM) That logo is extremely minor league ball-ee Haha, so true...

History of Rock Intro to Electronic Media Intro to Accounting Pre-Calculus (even though I've already taken Calc... Thanks stupid adviser) Public Speaking Not too bad of a semester. I'll be deejaying for the on-campus radio station too, so that should be fun. Had my 1st on-air experience for an hour yesterday. Loved it.

I give blood whenever the blood bank comes by school. I enjoy it.

I guess it's cool that she's standing by her terms (one being no alcohol), but come on lady, your son is 19 years old. If you don't think he should be allowed to drink alcohol, well, that's just ridiculous. Once a person becomes of college age, it should really be up to him to decide. It's not like she found heroine or cocaine in his car. Now, if the kid was 16 years old and still in high school and under the supervision of his parents, I'd be fine with this. But, he's obviously not. He is considered an "adult" by law and is his own man at this point. Don't sell his car to prove a point that is dumb. I'm guaran-damn-tee you she was drinking alcohol or smoking weed or some s*** when she was 19. And if she wasn't, well, good for her. But she is not her son.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 8, 2008 -> 05:42 PM) Others receiving votes (with 2006) records: Boston College (10-3) 150; Georgia Tech (9-5) 150; Miami (Fla.) (7-6) 91; Notre Dame (10-3) 90; South Carolina (8-5) 90; Wake Forest (11-3) 71; Missouri (8-5) 58; Oregon State (10-4) 52; Brigham Young (11-2) 47; Clemson (8-5) 30; Oregon (7-6) 30; South Florida (9-4) 26; Texas Tech (8-5) 20; Alabama (6-7) 16; Oklahoma State (7-6) 15; Southern Mississippi (9-5) 14; Iowa (6-7) 12; Kansas State (7-6) 8; Memphis (2-10) 5; Houston (10-4) 4; Arizona (6-6) 1; Duke (0-12) 1; Kentucky (8-5) 1; Washington State (6-6) 1. Who the hell voted for Memphis to be in the Top 25? I'm from there, and I'm not sure the hugely "homer" beat writers would have even agreed with that. -
QUOTE(chimpy2121 @ Jan 8, 2008 -> 05:58 PM) I'm taking Theory and Practice of Coaching Baseball and Theory and Practice of Coaching Football. We have those at Tennessee, but you have to be in a specific major to take those classes. It sucks b/c I would love to take a class about coaching football, basketball, etc.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jan 7, 2008 -> 05:14 PM) I knew you would never live that down. I'm a little suprised you didn't bring up Matt Nachreiner though. I'm sure there have been worse "sleeper" picks... ...well, maybe not. haha Oh, and yes, this place is awesome.

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Jan 4, 2008 -> 10:51 PM) Don't forget to add they lose the only OC they have won with in the past decade along with 2-3 other offensive coaches. Cutcliffe is overrated. I've seen every game the past 2 seasons and he is so conservative, especially if UT goes up by 2 or 3 TD's. He'll just sit on the ball and allow other teams to come back by run, run, run, punt every possession. His play calling in the SEC championship game was just awful. Yeah, Ainge did poorly, but it doesn't help when the OC calls plays that only include 5 yard out routes and slants, and screen passes. Not gonna be very successful doing that. Me, as well as every other Tennessee fan I know, was happy to learn he was a candidate for the Duke job. We were all hoping he'd take it, and when he did, we were all rejoicing. The loss that will hurt is losing Trooper Taylor. He was my favorite coach on the entire staff. But, I'd have to imagine there will be loads of highly qualified coaches out there who'll want to go to a program like Tennessee, so I'm not too worried. -

Talking about returning a lot of players, can anyone guess which team this is... 1) They just won 10 games. 2) They return their top 3 RBs, top 4 WRs, and all 5 O-lineman. 3) They do, however, lose the QB who was a 3 1/2 year starter for them. 4) On defense, they lose their two starting DE's. However, those two guys coupled for the lowest sack total for both DE's in years for this program. 5 sacks and 12.5 TFL combined for both starting DE's. The top backup DE had 4 sacks and 12 TFL by himself. 5) They return their top 3 DTs. 6) They return their 1st team all-conference MLB as well as their 2nd team all-conference WILL. 7) They lose their SAM, but he was the "3rd" LB of the corps this year. Easily replaceable with a former 5-star, Sophomore-to-be waiting in the wings for next year. 8) They lose one of their starting Safeties, but return every other DB that got ample PT. Both starting (freshman) CBs, the nickle back, and the dime back. Also, a starting Safety from a year ago is said to be re-applying for admission to the school, and it's believed he'll be back on the team. 9) They also return their kicker and punter (both were named 2nd team all-conference). Pretty stacked team, eh? Yep, it's Tennessee. Of the 24 starters, they only lose 6, most of which will be replaced by better players next year. The SEC East is gonna be so stacked next year. -

White Sox Acquire Nick Swisher from Athletics
dasox24 replied to Steve9347's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Big fan of this trade. I don't know the guy, but my sister used to go to school with him and my brother played football with Swisher's brother, so I've always followed his progress since he was drafted out of OSU. Really happy to have him on the Sox! My new favorite player. -

QUOTE(Middle Buffalo @ Jan 2, 2008 -> 11:17 PM) Doesn't a DB have as much right to the ball if it's in the air, and he's making a play on the ball? That's my understanding of the rule. Both players have an equal right to the ball. And as long as the the DB is making a play towards it, which he was, then they shouldn't call pass interference. -
QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Dec 28, 2007 -> 06:56 PM) In Tampa. And I probably wont even remember the game the next day. Go Vols!
