  1. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Dec 22, 2007 -> 10:05 AM) Oh and on a random note, Florida Atlantic beat Memphis 44-27 in the New Orleans Bowl last night. It's really amazing, I think ANYBODY could build a really good program down in Florida. In 2000 they didn't even have a fooball team, they were 1-AA from 2001-2004, and now in their third year in 1-A, they have won a conference and bowl championship to cap a great season. "The program builder", Howard Schnellenberger, has done a great job there though now in his early 70's agewise. In regards to FAU, it disappointed me to hear that the team was "a bunch of thugs. They were awful." One of my good friends plays for Memphis and just was taken aback by how bad the FAU's players sportsmanship was. He basically thought they were a bunch of assholes. I thought it was a nice story seeing FAU do so well after only being a program for 7 years. But hearing what I heard sounds like there's not much discipline on that team. I don't know...

    Wii

I absolutely love Wii tennis. I like bowling and baseball too, but those are really the only games I've played... I don't own one myself, but kids of any age would definitely enjoy it!
  3. QUOTE(Texsox @ Dec 22, 2007 -> 06:53 PM) but something that exactly 7 people had access to is a problem?! More than 7 people definitely saw the group, though. Only 7 people may have joined the group, but I'm sure tons of kids were "invited" to join it, but turned it down b/c it's messed up to publicly make fun of someone in the manner they did. Plus, the group name would show up in the kids' facebook profiles, visible to all their friends and/or people in their "network", a number that is probably in the hundreds or thousands. It's the lawyer trying to put spin on how many people saw the group by only giving the number of people that joined the group. Like I said, hundreds or maybe even thousands (depending on how big their "Network" is and how many other "friends" they have) could have seen this group.

  5. QUOTE(BureauEmployee171 @ Dec 21, 2007 -> 11:42 PM) Scouting Grades Hitting - 60 Power - 40 Arm Strength - 60 Fielding - 50 (OF); 55 (SS) Speed - 60 This is the scouting report I saw posted earlier. Now, for the layman, this is the 20-80 scouting scale. Whereas 50 is MLB avg. A player with this OFP would be a 54 - where a 55 is a potential All-Star during peak seasons. The MLB Scouting Bureau - which provides scouting reports filled out by scouts that work for MLB (none of this is available online), and various other organizational reports from other teams have this scouting score on Ramirez Hit - 45 Power - 35 Arm - 60 Field - 35 INF 45 OF Run - 55 OFP: 47 47 would represent a fringe player who may be a starter on 2nd division teams, but is a utility type on 1st division teams. Omar Infante's number: 47. He is maxed out in that - his tools are playable as is - meaning if he were to get 'bigger' he will increase other tools while decreasing in other areas. Meaning - if he got "bigger", he will lose range & speed - negating his defensive ability in positions such as CF & 2B while increasing in power, etc - but his OFP remains the same. Kosuke Fukudome - yes, he was injured - but it was not a major injury and he has displayed thru physicals that he is 100%. Fukudome's OFP according to the reports turned in by all 30 MLB teams: 65 hit 55 power 65 arm 65 defense 50 run 60 OFP. 60 is a starter on all first division teams with All-Star capability. Players with 60 OFP: Alex Rios, Aramis Ramirez, Nick Markakis. Now, please keep in mind that both players will undergo "transitional" seasons this coming year. The game they are about to play is much bigger, faster, and more powerful. The point of this: Fukudome has an OFP of a well-above average MLB player. Ramirez is a fringe-avg. player. Position Players (not pitchers) do not get 48 M and another get 4+ M for no good reason fellas. Ramirez is a known quantity. All 30 MLB teams have seen him play and have the report above in on him. You don't "steal" a player for 4+ M when all teams have their reports on the player turned in. Absolutely love the insight you bring to this board! Thanks.
  6. QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Dec 21, 2007 -> 04:49 PM) I still hate Self...... If we could clone self and weber....watch out John Wooden. No kidding...
  7. And Cordale Scott (4* WR from Ohio) is also thought to be leaning towards Illinois and could commit by next week. That'd be a huge steal getting him away from Ohio State.
  8. Tried Full Moon (Blue Moon's winter lager) last night. It was pretty good.
  9. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 16, 2007 -> 09:57 PM) Dont think its a bad hire at all. But he was not the coach I was most worried about. I'm sure that's what Michigan fans were thinking when y'all hired a coach from a D-1AA program...
  10. QUOTE(The Critic @ Dec 13, 2007 -> 09:56 AM) Wow, Adam Archuleta got one thing right! That's for sure. Jennifer Walcott is so fine. At least Arch has something to look forward to in his life b/c football is gonna be over real soon.
  11. Thought this was pretty funny, except for the very last clip. Making fun of Joe Buck. Imagine if he had been announcing when some of these great moments in history occurred. More videos from the "Burly Sports Show" channel at Burlysports.com

    Finals Thread

So, uh, yeah, I got a 100 on my Econ final last week. Wow. Guess that 13 hours of studying really payed off... And 1 more exam to go tomorrow afternoon, and I'm officially done!
  13. QUOTE(knightni @ Dec 9, 2007 -> 05:56 PM) In 2008/09 to have the Sox, Bears, Bulls, and Blackhawks all win the World Championship. That would be awesome... I'd talk so much s*** to my Boston friends who think their city is so damn great and constantly trash talk about how much better their sports teams are. Damn, I hate Boston fans. So annoying.
  14. At my Christmas Party last night, I had a few French 75's. It's almost like a Tom Collins, but has Champagne instead of club soda. For those of you who don't know, it contains gin, champagne, lemon juice, powdered sugar, and a lime. A pretty solid drink, though sweet.

QUOTE(SnB @ Dec 6, 2007 -> 07:13 PM) what kind of econ? Micro and Macro... Tennessee combines the two into one semester. Half the semester we do microeconomics, and the other half macroeconomics.

Well, I just knocked out my Econ final after spending 13 hours in the library. Pretty sure I made an A.

    Finals Thread

I only have two exams for my 4 classes. One was a final paper, and the other class, we just don't have a final exam. I have Econ tomorrow, and Ballroom Dance next Wednesday. The huge gap in-b/t the two kinda sucks. I just want it to be Christmas!!!
  18. I got a bottle of Johnnie Walker red from my brother, and man is that stuff gonna take some time getting use to...
  19. QUOTE(JuiceCruz16 @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 10:36 AM) He changed his mind about a school after there was a coaching change, numerous other guys did this as well, and it is commonplace in football. this in NO WAY makes him a bad person. I agree that the kid is probably a good guy, but that doesn't mean Illini fans should forgive him for f***ing over Illinois by waiting forever to announce he was de-committing. I don't see a problem if the fans want to root against the kid. That's fine as long as they're not wishing the kid to get hurt or something to that degree. As for this happening a lot, now that's just not true. This happens a lot when the school that a player is committed to fires its coach. Very rarely do you see a guy who is committed for 11 months (or whatever it was) change his mind b/c a different school that was recruiting him changes their coach.
  20. Clothes (specifically a black Mountain Hardwear vest), some duck boots, and DVDs
  21. QUOTE(thedoctor @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 03:05 PM) radio in gainesville is reported jarred fayson to illinois. That's a great pickup for Illinois. Big time WR to compliment the other young guns like Benn, Gamble, and Cumberland. Also, the Illini just picked up a commitment from DE Whitney Mercilus out of Akron, OH. He's a 3-star that plans to enroll in January.
  22. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Dec 2, 2007 -> 10:10 PM) I am just outside of Knoxville in Morristown Tn. We have a plant there. I have been here since Friday. My trip so far has had me in Atlanta on Wednesday, I drove from Atlanta to just north of Bristol, VA on Thursday, and now back into Morristown. This is my second time in the area, the last time I also stopped down in Gatlinburg and got my picture at Cooter's garage next to the General Lee. Skipped the Dollyworld experience thought, lol. I have to say, some of the nicest people are in the area and my trip has been filled with some very nice hospitality. On Monday afternoon, I return home. Its been a lot of driving, a lot of hard work. I cant wait to go home. Ah, nice. I've got a couple friends from Morristown. Glad to hear the people are treating you well. I'd wouldn't really want to live in East TN when I'm older, but I love it right now as a college student.
  23. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Dec 1, 2007 -> 09:06 PM) I am in East Tennesee this weekend for a road trip of installs at some of our locations in the south. Its pretty amazing how into it the Knoxville area is. Everyone was wearing Orange and the local TV was covering the SEC championship game like the Bears playoff games. In Chicago we get some college pride, however nothing like this. It was pretty amazing to see. Well time to find something to eat. Maybe something with a bar so I can see the rest of the Mizzou game. Glad to hear you got a chance to see Knoxville. It's my home for 9 months out of the year. I'd say we sorta like our football around here, haha... How'd ya like it? You get a chance to eat out or go to any bars while there? Where'd ya stay? On a side note, I was in Atlanta for the SEC championship game, and that game is Reason #1 why the Bears should not draft Erik Ainge. He sucks. Never plays well against good teams. I've tried to defend him before, while being critical... But now? He just sucks, and is the reason LSU is going to the National Championship rather that the Capitol One Bowl. F U Ainge!!!!!!! Oh, and I got to touch Tim Tebow's Heisman Trophy (lol). Took one of those posed picture in front of a green screen with like 7 of my buddies.
  24. I'm surprised that they're all these people who like Vodka this much. I guess maybe it's a regional thing, but no one (except girls, no offense. Just how it is) really drink Vodka. I'd say most of my friends drink whiskey. The only thing I like vodka in is a Bloody Mary, which happens to be one of my favorite mixed drinks. I guess I've had it with lemonade once too, and I remember that it wasn't that bad. Kinda curious to what y'all think? Is drinking whiskey just more of a Southern thing?
