  1. Man, I can't wait for this book to come out! I absolutely love Harry Potter. I don't know what I'm gonna do after this book, which is supposed to be the last.

    Cancelled Gems

I really enjoyed "Over There" on FX. Very sad that it only got 13 episodes. Another that did have a few years, but still got axed too soon is American Dreams.
  3. Penelope Cruz for sure. I'm sure there are others that I just can't think of right now.
  4. They'll definitely be in my prayers. And as said before, keep us informed.

    Drinking poll

Whatever they have at the party I'm going to is what I'll drink. I know there'll be a keg and lots of liquor, so both of those for sure.
  6. He's an interview from FutureSox that I did w/ Adam on July 22, 2006. Not to toot my horn here, but it's pretty darn informative, and gives you most anything you'll want to know about the guy.
  7. Wow, I guess I'm not really that interesting b/c I can't think of stuff off the top of my head that's all that great, but here goes a try: 1) Finished this (first) semester of college w/ a 3.35 GPA 2) Am the only person in my family of 5 that was not born in the Chicago-land area 3) Want to be an ER doctor 4) Will be in my fraternity hell/initiation week next week... yea! 5) Have won my fantasy football league 2 years in a row w/ a combined 24-6 record those two years
  8. Well, that was pretty fun. I got up to 18 before quitting.
  9. QUOTE(He_Gawn @ Dec 24, 2006 -> 04:04 PM) I don't know, Weis just publicly stated theres going to be a couple big suprises during the AA game for the Irish. But I've also heard Donald has been an Irish lean for quite some time now. Well, I could be wrong, but as of last week, Donald is going to TN. I hate using what I'm about to say, but I was talking to Chris Walker (mentioned in my last post), and he said Donald and him are good buddies, and said that they both want to attend the same school. So, now that Walker has verbaled to Tennessee, he said Donald wants to too.
  10. QUOTE(He_Gawn @ Dec 22, 2006 -> 04:32 PM) Is this statement directed at Notre Dame? Because if it is you are a fool, I will take a top 3 class and winning more than 2 games a year. And just so you know, Harrison Smith who is annoucing today has been considered an ND lean and as is Chris Donald. Both reign from Tennesee and that would make a clean sweep for ND of their big three. Lets just remember, Zook also has to coach these recruits. So I guess what I'm trying to say is that Wilson can kiss the chance at a BCS bowl every year away. Hmm, well, I can tell you that you're not gonna get Chris Donald. So, no, no Top 3 for you, and IMO, Chris Walker is a better prospect than Golden Tate, which would make TN have 2/3 of the state's Top 3. You got so f'n lucky w/ Smith too. If he weren't from Knoxville, he would have gone to TN, but he wanted to get out of his hometown in the end. So, if not for the location factor, Weis would have left the state w/ only Tate, who TN wasn't really recruiting that heavily, though I do believe that was a mistake on our part, as I think he'll be a very solid player.
  11. QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Dec 24, 2006 -> 06:57 AM) It isn't about not trusting Jason. He hasn't even said what the information is, much less whether it is believable/credible. Yeah, but I guess this is just me, but I don't have to know the exact info to believe that there's not a good reason for the trade. And, if there's a good reason for the trade, then I'm happy with it. Hell, I'm happy with it even if there isn't a good reason to have traded McCarthy besides getting great value in return.
  12. QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Dec 24, 2006 -> 06:50 AM) I consider trusting info when I get it. I haven't gotten any of this inside info yet. Until then, claims that it exist are worthless. Maybe this inside info is that JR is looking to trim the payroll this year (Garcia) and in the relatively near future (McCarthy) and that is what these trades are significantly about. If so, that doesn't make the deal any better. It just puts the blame on JR, not KW. Again, my point is that we have no idea what this supposed information is, what its source is, how credible or reliable it is. So, it is basically nothing. Yeah, but when Jason says this, you should probably believe it. This is not just some random, little-known poster. When Jason says something about having inside info, he's telling the truth. I very very rarely have heard him use the "inside source" card, if ever. Jeez, I don't mean to be kissing Jas' ass so much in this thread, but I just feel pretty strongly towards what Jason has to say.
  13. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Dec 24, 2006 -> 06:43 AM) so I'll trust his judgment on Floyd. Don't worry, you're not alone in having faith in Floyd. I'm not sure what it is, but I just have this great feeling about Floyd surprising the hell out of everyone. Not to be too repetitive, but yeah, it would be pretty smart to trust Jason on this one. He has his sources, and I'm sure if he says there's a good reason, then there is a good reason.
  14. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Dec 24, 2006 -> 06:23 AM) I suppose I'm just a guy that's excited to see the development of a guy. People wondered where our top-10 draft pick, lefty with great stuff was. We've got him now, and he's a step away. I'm feeling pretty confident that Floyd will have the fifth spot, and it's not like he's just been up for spot starts. He didn't have a great year last year, but I'm excited to see what he can do. I'll second that. I think this trade (and the others too for that matter) makes us FutureSox guys happy b/c it definitely gives us more to work with regarding the minor leagues. I'm a huge minor league/prospect guy, though I never complain when we trade a prospect b/c I take a wait and see approach. I have learned never to overreact when dealing with prospects. With that said, I love the possibility of following Danks', Gio's, etc. progression next year thru the minors. I mean, during the baseball season, I may not check the big league team's box score every game, but I'm always looking to see how the minor leaguers faired. I don't know what it is, but I'm just much more interested in our daily minor league happenings than the major league stuff, which makes me thrilled to add to our depleted minor leagues.
  15. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Dec 24, 2006 -> 05:38 AM) Found a pic of the mystery man... translated.... Wow, that is awesome. I laughed so hard when reading this. Good thing he towed 17 and swindled 9 pads in 14 attempts. Oh, and Jas, are you assuming that we're gonna trade someone else when you say you don't want to rely on 2 rookies in the rotation, or did you just make a mistake? If it's the former, who do you think is gone?
  16. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 24, 2006 -> 04:31 AM) I think here's one of my biggest problems with this whole concept. We traded away a guy with 5 or so years of MLB eligibility before he hits free agency, but we're holding onto 1 guy who has 1 remaining year on his contract in Buehrle. I've been casually pushing the concept of dealing Buehrle since September or so, because Mark has an incredible record of pitching, only 1 year left on his contract, and a world series ring. I just look at this deal and think that Mark Buehrle should have been able to bring us the exact same deal, and that's with Mark being a Free Agent so soon. I just still hate the idea of losing probably 2 of Mark Buehrle, Jermaine Dye, and Tadahito Iguchi for draft picks at the end of next season. Maybe I'll be surprised and we'll resign a couple of them, and if the deal is decent I will applaud, but I really, really dislike the concept of holding onto Buehrle and losing the guy with 5 years before FA rather than the reverse. I can understand holding onto Javy. If we really believe in those numbers he put up in the last 2 months, and beleive he can do that for a full season, then he can make himself a much more valuable trading chip next offseason. He has an enormous amount of room for improvement, when compared to the rest of our starters. But I still don't like the fundamental principle of going into 2007 with Mark Buehrle, Jermaine Dye, and Tadahito Iguchi hitting Free Agency at the end of the year. I really hate the idea of losing Buehrle and Dye for draft picks, no matter how many first round picks we get. It just doesn't help us in 08 at all. Yeah, I'll agree with this. I would have much rather traded Buehrle than McCarthy in this deal, but I'm trying to be positive anyway.
  17. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Dec 24, 2006 -> 01:17 AM) Anyone think the Sox will use the acquisition of Danks as leverage in a future drafting of his little brother? One of the first things I thought of after this trade was that hopefully we'll be able to redraft Jordan Danks when he's eligible. I think he'll make a fantastic player someday, and baring injury, though, he'll be drafted too high for us. Although, I guess that means we will be able to draft him in 2 years according to those who think this trade means we're gonna finish 4th in the AL Central and completely suck... whatever... This team is still a 90-win team. I truly believe getting rid of Garcia was addition by subtraction, which sometimes has to be done. Also, while losing McCarthy does hurt us this year, it doesn't make much of a difference if the other 4 don't pitch well. Basically, if Contreras, Garland, Beurhle, and Vazquez pitch like they're capable, then whoever our 5th starter is won't matter b/c the other 4 will be so dominant. Though if the other 4 pitch like last year, it won't matter who the 5th starter is b/c we're not gonna be in the playoffs anyway.
  18. QUOTE(southsida86 @ Nov 29, 2006 -> 09:16 PM) can you listen to the show without having an ipod? Yeah, you can listen to it on your computer if you have iTunes.
  19. Hey, really great stuff, guys. I thoroughly enjoyed spending the last hour listening to that. And, it gave me a reason to put off doing my homework.

  21. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Nov 11, 2006 -> 08:04 PM) I don't like turnovers. I can't think of a time when I've seen a team commit so many turnovers in such a short amount of time. Piss poor...
  22. QUOTE(He_Gawn @ Nov 5, 2006 -> 10:01 PM) theres a lot of 'If's" in that paragraph. Actually, there are only 2. Two plays go a different way, and we're undefeated. However, if a couple plays in other games went different ways, then we could have 3-4 losses, so I'm not gonna complain. All I'm saying is that UT is a Top 10-15 team, in my opinion. Definitely not "garbage," though I guess I'm biased.
  23. QUOTE(THEWOOD @ Nov 5, 2006 -> 12:27 AM) Also I think Tennessee is garbage. Tennessee is garbage? Have you watched any of their games? They have 2 losses. 1 was a one-pt. loss to Florida (a game in which they returned an INT for a TD, but it got called back b/c of a phantom hit on Leak's head... they said the DL that forced the bad throw/INT hit Leak in the face w/ his hand, when on replay you could see that he barely grazed the helmet, and really just hit the shoulder pad). The other loss being last night, where Russell cleary fumbled on the last drive for LSU, but the refs f***ed up and blew the whistle BEFORE he was down, so they couldn't review the play. Oh, and 3 1/2 quarters of the game was played by our backup QB against the best defense in the country, and we still should have won if for not getting f***ed over by the refs. So, if TN gets that TD against Florida, and the refs don't f*** up the Russell fumble, then we're undefeated, and either in 2nd or 3rd in the BCS.
  24. Yeah, definitely great for the Cards! I've always been a fan and root for them to win, unless they're playing us of course.
