  1. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ May 27, 2006 -> 05:51 AM) Haha a couple people in my theater screamed out "Charles!" That's pretty funny. Some people are a little too obsessed...
  2. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ May 27, 2006 -> 05:32 AM) And that's f***in' priceless that they got that Juggernaut line into the movie!! That line was absolutely hilarious! The entire theater erupted in laughter... Anyway, I thought the movie was badass. Although, I don't know anything about the comic, so I don't know what the director made up and what really happened in the comic. Basically, everyone that knows the comic is disappointed, and anyone that knows very little about the comic loves it. Therefore, I fall into the latter. It's kinda like a novel that's made into a movie. You just don't have enough time to develop story lines, etc. when you only have 2 hours or so to work with. That's why anyone that has read the novel will think the movie sucks ass, and anyone that hasn't read the novel will normally think it's a pretty good movie.
  3. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 25, 2006 -> 04:17 AM) Hmm I didn't think of it that way, good point. Although if we made a trade and took on Garnett's deal without dumping much, that kills our chances to get a FA like Harrington or Pryzbilla or Mohammed. All true, good post. As for Rondo, that guy couldn't hit a b**** from 6 inches away if he were Rick James. If taken in the first round, he'd be the worst guard in terms of shooting ability I've ever seen taken in the 1st round. However he does run the point well, is a great athlete, gets a lot of rebounds, and can defend, which are all pluses. But I still don't like 6'2 guards that have NO shot. If this is true (I have no idea b/c I don't know much about Rondo), then it would seem like he'd be a great fit in the triangle offense for the Lakers. They could use a PG who can do all that stuff you mentioned, while also not having to score much.
  4. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ May 25, 2006 -> 12:38 AM) On your mock dasox24; Why would the Magic take Rondo when they already have 3 PG's in Nelson, Dooling and Arroyo? Boston with Williams when they already have Delonte West (even though he's more of a combo guard) Seattle with Brewer when they have Lewis and Allen at the swingman positions? When it's all said and done, I think we're going to take Redick. We need a 3 point bomber, and Twardiz the Assistant GM can't stop gushing over him. Well, Allen is getting older and Lewis, unless I'm thinking of a different player, is unhappy and wants out. That's why I thought the Sonics might take Brewer. As for Orlando, I don't know too much about the team, truthfully. You'd know plenty more considering they're "your" team. I knew they had Nelson, but not the other two, which would change their focus to maybe a SG or C, I guess. And Boston would take Williams b/c they need a true PG, and as you said yourself, West is more of a combo guard, who would be a very solid 3rd guard for the Celtics, unless the rid themselves of Pierce, which would allow West to be the starting 2-guard. They could go for a big man as well. They really have a few needs to fill.
  5. I haven't done a Mock Draft since probably 7th grade, but ESPN's Draft Machine made it so easy that I did one. I will try my best to give reasons if anyone asks a question about a pick, but it was really just a "gut" thing with my picks. Anyway, here it is: 1. Toronto- Andrea Bargnani - SF/PF - Italy 2. Chi- LaMarcus Aldridge - C - Texas 3. Charlotte- Brandon Roy - SG - Washington 4. Portland- Adam Morrison - SF - Gonzaga 5. Atl- Tyrus Thomas - PF - LSU 6. Minny- Randy Foye - SG - Villanova 7. Boston- Marcus Williams - PG - UConn 8. Houston- Rudy Gay - SF - UConn 9. Golden St.- Rodney Carney - SF - Memphis 10. Seattle- Ronnie Brewer - SG/SF - Arkansas 11. Orlando- Rajon Rondo - PG - Kentucky 12. NO/Ok. City- Shelden Williams - PF - Duke 13. Philly- Tiago Splitter - PF - Brazil 14. Utah- J.J. Redick - SG - Duke 15. NO/Ok. City- Patrick O'Bryant - C - Bradley 16. Chi- Mardy Collins - PG/SG - Temple 17. Ind- Kyle Lowry - PG - Villanova 18. Washington- Cedric Simmons - PF - NC State 19. Sacramento- Hilton Armstrong - PF/C - UConn 20. NY- Shawne Williams - SF/PF - Memphis 21. Phoenix- Marcus Vinicius - SF - Brazil 22. NJ- Jordan Farmar - PG - UCLA 23. NJ- Mouhamed Saer Sene - C - Senegal 24. Mem- Alexander Johnson - PF - Fla St. 25. Cleveland- Aaron Gray - C - Pitt 26. LAL- Daniel Gibson - PG - Texas 27. Phoenix- Shannon Brown - SG - Mich St. 28. Dallas- Maurice Ager - SG - Mich St. 29. NY- Quincy Douby - SG - Rutgers 30. Portland- James Augustine - PF - Illinois
  6. I bet it's a lot more likely that Toronto takes Aldridge rather than Thomas. I don't think that Toronto would be very interested in Thomas since Bosh is basically the type of player Thomas could be, but the difference is that Bosh already is that player.
  7. Happy Bday, Jas! Hope it's a good one!
  8. QUOTE(daa84 @ Apr 21, 2006 -> 02:56 AM) yeah i never used to follow the draft, but now im in college and have a handful of buddies from our team that will likely get drafted and have already had a few.....not to mention i get to see a ton of great college players in the SEC ....100 Ks in 42 IP is unreal.....especially for a lefty...where is he from, and if you dont mind me askign whats his name?....and also wheres he gonna play college ball His name is Matt Packer from Christian Brothers High School in Memphis, TN. We're ranked 21st in the country by Baseball America right now. He's going to Virginia next year. He had offers from, I think, basically every SEC school, like Georgia, Tenn., etc., but his brother went to UVA and he really loves the school, too, so that's why he picked them.
  9. I'm pretty psyched (even more than usual) about the draft this year since I have a friend who will probably be drafted, even though no matter what, he's going to college. Anyway, he's the best hitter and pitcher on our team. He's probably more of a pitcher, though, in terms of his future. Right now, he's 7-0 with 100 k's in 42 IP. Not sure what his ERA is, but he's a lefty, so that helps his cause.

  11. QUOTE(MnSoxFan @ Apr 14, 2006 -> 02:18 AM) West with 2 scoreless. Oh man, West is back... I thought he was going to play football somewhere. Anyone know what happened?
  12. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Feb 22, 2006 -> 10:28 PM) Im afraid of Randle El, Id rather get a guy like Brandon Williams in the draft than over pay a guy who has never got it consistently done as a WR. I love him as a player, just I think hes gonna get over paid and the Bears dont have the cap space. Also I hope the Bears dont trade Thomas Jones I'll have to agree with you about Randel El. I love him as a player and was really excited at first about the thought of having him, but after thinking about it more, I don't really think we should sign him. I'm afraid we'll overpay him, and that's not good, especially b/c he isnt' really any better of a reciever than I think Bradley will be in next year or two. Berrian isn't bad either as we saw, plus Berrian did a good job as the punt return man, so there isn't so much of a need at that spot anymore. I think there are other positions we should address before WR, like CB, S, LB, and OL. What we don't get in FA, we'll make up for in the draft. With all that being said, I fully expect Randel El to sign with the Bears. I'll be happy if he does, but not ecstatic.
  13. Thought I'd add what I wrote up on Welker last summer... Kris Welker – C – U. of Iowa – 5’11’, 200 Welker, the White Sox’ 41st round pick, has already signed and is playing for Bristol of the rookie Appalachian (Appy) League. After playing two seasons at the College of Southern Idaho, Welker headed off to the University of Iowa, where he put up very solid numbers. As a senior, Welker hit .356 with four home runs and a team-best 16 doubles and 46 RBI. He was also a third-team all- Big Ten selection. Welker is a very hardnosed ballplayer, whose swing should transfer over well to the professional game. Currently, the previous statement seems to be true as Welker leads the Appy League in both average and on-base %.
  14. Bears: 1- Mercedes Lewis - TE - UCLA 2- Jason Allen - CB/S - Tennessee 3- Andrew Whitworth - OT - LSU
  15. Jason Allen, DB, from Tennessee. He's a guy that not many talk about, and I'd guess that's b/c he was injured almost the entire year. He can play both CB and S, and with everyone saying we need another CB, he could possibly fill that role. Or, if he struggles, he can also be a 4th CB/3rd Saftey as insurance if Brown gets hurt again. Btw, he was injured when he was plowed-over by Leonard Pope and broke his hip. Thought I'd mention that for those Bears fans/Pope supporters out there.
  16. Good luck, Bull. I always hoped you'd get a chance to make it to the big leagues with us. I'll be following you wherever you go, and hopefully you'll be pitching in the majors before you know it! I'd also like to say thanks for taking time out to post on our message board, keeping us informed of what's going on inside the organization. Again, best of luck, Evan Solon
  17. I think they'll most definitely look at taking a TE in the 1st round. i.e. Mercedes Lewis, Vernon Davis, Leonard Pope. Also, look for them to take an OL or two at some point in the draft. They need to stockpile for the future w/ our OL being fairly old. Lastly, if Azumah isn't resigned, then I think they'll take a CB somewhat early to take his spot. Greatest need = TE and OL Medium need = WR, LB, QB Least need = S, DL, HB, FB, K, P
  18. That's pretty sweet, guys! I don't know about yall, but even something that small made me pretty happy for FutureSox. It's all about getting the name out...
  19. QUOTE(Texsox @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 04:11 PM) Easily my favorite Mine too. Btw, here's the link to the website for people that haven't seen it. It updates occasionally with new "facts." Chuck Norris Top 30 Facts

    Fav Love Songs

QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Dec 4, 2005 -> 07:49 AM) Wonderwall. That's such a great song. I actually heard it this weekend for the 1st time in a while, and was glad to hear it b/c I kinda forgot about it.
  21. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 06:33 PM) I just hope Lummy can get healthy cause the Kid has an arm. Liotta will hopefully improve and Rodriguez has kind of been hovering (ocassionally going on some hot streaks). I think Rodriguez would be the guy in the minors that I'd think is destined for a breakout year. He has a good pitchers build, good stuff, but hasn't put it all together yet. As far as Whisler goes, I just hope I was wrong and that somehow he will figure things out. I'll have to agree with you and Randar on Rodriguez. I'm definitely thinking this could be his year, kinda like Haigwood last year.
  22. I can't wait for this game to come out. It's gonna be so awesome. What's even cooler is that I'll be able to play as one of my friends on a video game! That's so weird. He'll be a frosh at Virginia next year, so I might have to wait until he's a sophomore to actually play with him. I dont think they'd have the incoming freshman, but they could since baseball is so late in the year, and they'd have plenty of time by then to know what players went where for college.
  23. I'm disappointed that Haig is goin', but sometimes you gotta trade who you gotta trade.

    College Help

Has anyone here gone to or go to St. Louis University? I visited SLU last weekend and liked it, but I want someone's opinion on it who went there for college. Like, what kind of things did you do for fun in the city? Does the city of St. Louis get old after a while, or are there plenty of things to do to keep things new? And, how do you handle not having a football team. For me, Fall=football. So, when its a Saturday during Fall, is it just like any other day of the week? Or, do people go to Illinois football games or some other college? Or, do the soccer games sorta take football's place? Do students actually go to and get really excited at soccer games, like they do at football games, or what? Anyway, I realize that no one here may be able to answer my questions, but I just figuered I'd ask in case.
  25. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 11:36 PM) Yah, but what do those guys at FutureSox know? Haha... True. Just kiddin'... Seriously, I love work you guys do. Believe me, I remember how time consuming researching can get; I know the amount of work you put in. I was glad to help out that one summer, and a little bit at other times. Thanks for that opportunity, Jas. On a side note, it has actually also made me consider possibly majoring in journalism in college b/c of how much I loved doing that stuff for FS. But hell, there about 4 other things I think would be cool to study in college, so I really have no idea.
