  1. QUOTE(MnSoxFan @ Nov 14, 2005 -> 12:41 AM) Good choice, but no idea how you can qualify Haigwood as a sleeper, he has been good since we signed him. Struggled a bit after being off a year with the knee injury. Actually, I'm pretty sure that if there had been a preseason "top prospects" list for the Sox, not many would have had him in their Top 15 and probably not Top 20. Hell, FS had him at #25 before the season started. That qualifies as sleeper to me, especially if he, by the end of the year, moved up about 18-19 slots in ranking.
  2. QUOTE(3E8 @ Nov 13, 2005 -> 07:01 AM) Who is your 2006 sleeper? I'll have to think about that one. But, if whoever it is comes anywhere close to having #'s like Haigwood, that'd be great. Not likely to happen again, though.
  3. Btw, with all this talk about how good Haigwood is, my sleeper pick turned out to be pretty good, eh?
  4. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Nov 12, 2005 -> 03:56 AM) I'm with you on the percentages and likelihoods, but Buehrle doesn't have 1, 2 or 3 starter stuff either. Some guys can just flat out pitch. Exactly what I was thinking. I really like Haigwood. Screw "stuff." I don't care if he doesn't have 1,2, or 3 "stuff" as long as he gets the job done like a 1,2,or 3 starter.
  5. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Nov 6, 2005 -> 06:15 PM) Saw the trailer in front of Jarhead. So did I. Speaking of Jarhead, what did you or anyone else who's seen it think? I thought it was great. I really enjoyed it. However, I think some of my friends I saw it with were disappointed b/c there wasn't as much fighting as they thought. Anyone else feel like that? I liked how it looked into the marines' lives, rather than only showing fighting like other war movies.
  6. I jumped up off my couch, hugged my dad, and just stood there smiling for about 10 minutes straight before I sat back down.
  7. Wow. This is awesome! I don't even know how to react. I can't stop smiling. Never before in my life has one of "my" teams won a championship that I could enjoy. The Bears, Bulls (too young to really appreciate the titles), Illinois- I've gotten nothing from them. But the Sox, the "mutha f***in" Sox!!!! Hell yeah!
  8. I'm an Ole Miss fan to go along Illinois.
  9. Sorry for being late, but I didn't get on here yesterday. Anyway, happy belated BDay to one of my favorite posters.
  10. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 03:17 AM) Wes's line tonight: 6IP, 1ER, 3BB's and 7K's Good to see Wes do well. He's had quite and up and down year. Unfortunately for him this year, he doesn't have me to blame for his bad outings.
  11. QUOTE(Soxfest @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 01:49 AM) Bears are 4-12 with or without Ben$on Have to disagree with ya there. Do you really not think that they'll improve at all this year with a much improved roster. Basically, they've added to every position that needed upgrading (except QB), and didn't downgrade at any other position. How could they not have a least a few more wins, especially if the defense stays healthy this year, which it didn't last year. Plus, Hutch will have a lot of practice time, and maybe most importantly of all, we actually have a competant o-coordinator that knows how to call a balanced game, and knows how to teach the ins and outs of his offense to players. I'm not saying we're playoff bound or anything, but I expect no less than 7 wins.
  12. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 07:09 PM) I do still wish they would sign a 6'6" guard who can play defense. They did. Eddie Basden... This guy's gonna surprise a lot of people. Not only was he 2 time DPOY in CUSA, he was also the MVP of the league this past season. A league which featured the likes of Francisco Garcia and Jason Maxiell, both 1st round picks.

    Harry Potter

QUOTE(farmteam @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 12:53 AM) I suggest you edit your post; some don't want to know the ending. Like me, who you just ruined it for. There are just places you don't go. And, this is one of them. If you don't know what your talking about, shut the hell up. Why do some people just feel the need to tell people stuff like this. My one biggest pet peeve is when I find out the ending to a movie or book before I've seen/read it. God, I hate that. I now have little desire to read the newest book. I might end up reading it now, but if that's really the ending then I'm gonna have a hard time enjoying the book when I know what the ending is. Already read the 1st 4 1/2, and was really looking forward to finishing the 5th and the next one. Am I alone in feeling this way about spoilers? Please tell me other people hate it too. I've never said anything bad to another poster on here, no matter how much I disagree with them or how much something they say pisses me off... Until now. You deserve it, though. If santo=dorf doesn't edit his/her post in the next 10 minutes, will a mod please do so?

    Celebrity Crush

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 08:46 PM) It makes me wanna fart It's "I hope we never part." Get it right or pay the price! Kids these days are so deprived... Anyone watch "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" Now, that was a good show. Or, how about "Legends of the Hidden Temple"? I think that was what it was called anyway.

    Celebrity Crush

QUOTE(danman31 @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 04:51 AM) I agree, but it grosses me out that she's with Ben Stiller. That's just disgusting. So I guess, in a way, she is an embarrasing crush of mine. Stiller's not that bad looking. Plus, he's really funny, which is a big thing for the women. Anyway, the chick that I think is pretty cute that I get crap for: Paige Davis from Trading Spaces
  17. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 03:25 PM) Not too shabby. Rodriguez hasn't been as consistent as I like, but I've noticed him making some strides as of late. Haig has been awesome and Lucy has been a lot better this year. Jas, you and I were right on with the Haigwood pick, that's for sure.
  18. Not like you can see my face, but it's the only pic I've got on the computer. I'm the kid in white; #2.
  19. Gotta give props to those who took Jerry Owens. Definitely didn't foresee a year like this for him.
  20. Wow, I've been out all night and just found out like 10 minutes ago. I had just walked in the door, and my friend called me and sounded all sad. I thought someone had died or something. Freaked the s*** out of me. Anyway, he was all like "s***, man, I can't believe what happened," thinking I'd alread heard, and it scared me bigtime. 3 people in my grade have already died in the last two years, so I hate getting late night calls like that or when someone calls me at like 7 a.m. Actually, I was kind of relieved when I found out it was just something that had happened to Grossman. But, then, I was pissed, especially b/c all the Grossman haters can use this as another "he's injury prone," when he's not. Like CWSGuy posted earlier, he never got hurt in high school or college, and then gets into the NFL and gets all the unlucky breaks. Last year's injury was the most unlucky of all, however, b/c of that piece of s*** astroturf. Nonetheless, I still expect a better team than last year.
  21. I guess my pre-season minor league sleeper pick turned out to be pretty good.
  22. Wow! Wright's catch was awesome. To me, that play has to be a top 5 the play of the year, if not the play of the year. Bare handed, over the shoulder.... damn.
  23. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 05:59 PM) Advanced Algebra-Trig (honors) Journalism (AP) Physics (Honors) European History (AP) British Lit (AP) Music (Honors) Art (Honors) That's a hell of a schedule. You're gonna have no free time, whatsoever. The only good thing is that it will keep you focused rather than, i.e., putting off your homework to play video games, and then never getting it done. If you're taking all of those, your probably pretty damn smart, and know what your getting into. Good luck.
  24. I'm pretty sure someone started a thread like this last year, so I though we'd do it again while we're on the topic of colleges and going back to school. Whether you're in high school or college, just post classes your taking and any thoughts you like to share on them. As for me, I'm taking: AP Biology AP English Physics Honors Spanish IV Pre-Cal Religion (I go to a private school) I'm taking a study hall also for a period each semester, so I've got to take an online course to fill my last elective to graduate. Has anyone here taken any online course like that that'd they'd recommend. It has to be an "arts" class, like Music History, Guitar 101, Drawing, etc. Something along those lines, and I've already taken Art History.

    Colleges

I'm gonna be a senior in high school. Last year, I had a lot of schools on my "list." However, over past the year and this summer, I narrowed it down to the University of Tennessee, University of Mississippi (Ole Miss), and University of Georgia. Previously, I had been considering Rhodes College (small, liberal arts), University of Texas, and U of Illinois to name a few. Anyway, I've visited all 3 schools on my final list, and really loved all the campuses. I rank them like this: 1) UT 2) Ole Miss 3) Georgia Therefore, that means I'll be attending the University of Tennessee next fall, since I'll have no problem getting in. Actually, with my grades the way they are now (3.98 GPA, 26 ACT [first time]), I've got $4500 guaranteed in scholarship money. TN has a state lottery scholarship and my GPA and ACT gives me some more money from the University. Plus, it's in-state, so I'll only be paying, at most, like $5000-5500 a year to go there. Not too shabby. Also, I'll be appying for some other merit-based scholarships, so if I get one of those, the amt. I'll have to pay will be even less. I really don't want to go to a school that costs $30000 a year and be paying student loans for the next 10-15 years when I'm done w/ undergrad, especially since, as of now, I want to go the Dental School. And, that will cost some $$$. Also, Chimpy, I'm not so sure Georgia is a good "fallback" school. It's very highly selective for out of state students since a ton of in-staters go there. Now, I have no idea what your grades are, but all I know is it's pretty hard to get in to.
