  1. I start this Wednesday. Luckily, however, I'm a senior and will be getting out in April, and graduating on May 3rd. Not too shabby, considering I'll get over 3 months for my summer break next year.
  2. In answer to your question, he's trying to make it back in football. He's playing QB for West Virginia.
  3. A little additional info: He throws 4 pitches: a 4-seam fastball, 2-seam fastball, curveball, and change-up. His fastball sits in the upper 80s to lower 90s. His curveball is his best pitch, and BHAM has referred to how good it has looked a couple of times in his postgame reviews.
  4. W-S/Bham combined YTD Stats: 10-2, 19 GS, 109.2 IP, 97 H, 44 R, 36 ER, 50 BB, 120 K, 2.97 ERA
  5. Hell yeah. My boy Haigwood keeps rollin'. Hopefully, he'll start getting some more much deserved publicity.
  6. Great job, Cerb. Loved the article.

    Furcal?

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 05:56 AM) Adam Katz and Paul Kinzer Adam Katz is the guy who got Aramis Ramirez his 4 year $42M contract and Sammy Sosa his 4 year $72M deal. Thanks.
  8. QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 06:09 AM) A little update: I've currently got 965 words of the Honel piece done and I've probably got another 500-750 words left. For comparison, my story on Lance Broadway was only 923 words. Kris just provided me with a lot of great material and I'm definitely having a blast writing this. Edit: Since it's a bit late, I'm going to call it a night and finish this off when I wake up tomorrow. I still have a lot of quotes from Kris that I want to work in. I'm looking very forward to reading this. Kris seems like a great guy, and I can't wait to see what all he had to say.
  9. Sounds like fun. Hope you have a good time. . I was really hoping to get to a Barons game this year when they played in Jackson (Diamond Jaxx), but I've been really busy this summer and never got the chance.

    Furcal?

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 03:53 AM) Actually I think the Sox may be major players in the Furcal sweepstakes this offseason. That would be awesome. I love Furcal and really wanted him on this team when there were rumors of him coming here (can't remember exactly how long ago that was). He's really been vital to the Braves' winning this year, and would be a very welcome addition to the lineup. Can you imagine Pods and Furcal batting 1 and 2, allowing Iguchi to move down in the lineup were he would probably knock in more runs and really solidify the bottom of the lineup. I'm not sure, however, what we'd do with Uribe or Crede. I guess we'd get rid of one or the other, or what would be even sweeter would be if Uribe would be happy in a utility role. However, after starting 2 years in a row, I doubt he'd want to go back to being a utility guy. Last thing, who's Furcal's agent?
  11. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 09:05 AM) Ya, you're slacking this year. I know... My job this summer doesn't allow me to wake up at 1 p.m. anymore, so I normally go to bed at about 2 a.m. Here's something just for you, Row:
  12. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 08:37 AM) Meh, why the hell am I breaking down sentences at 3:40 in the morning. Eh, there's not much else to do, so why not? It's not a bad way to spend your time on Soxtalk when there's a grand total of like 10 other people on. I haven't been up this late much this summer, but I remember last summer and how slow it gets at 3-4 AM.
  13. QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 03:56 AM) 32 IIRC this year Thanks. Also, Marte still has a 2.8 something ERA, which is pretty damn good in my book. I think the deal has it's ups and downs, but if we could take out Marte, and throw in a prospect or 2 (assuming Philadelphia decides they can live without receiving major league talent in return), then I'd do this in a heartbeat.
  14. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 09:58 PM) No one is untouchable in the right deal. Agreed. My order, however, of guys I'd least like to see traded: 1. Anderson 2. Valido 3. Young 4. Liotta 5. Haigwood (I'm sure I'm the only person who'd have him in their top 5) Also, if it came down to Fields or Schnurstein, I'd keep the Schnur. Fields may be a little better of a prospect, but he'd account for a lot more in a trade, imo. So I'd rather trade him as a part of a big time trade than say Schnur and someone else, like Haigwood. Also, a player has to be 1 year removed from being drafted to be traded. Therefore, Mr. Broadway can't be trade bait until next year's deadline.
  15. Another very good start for Haigwood. If he had about 2-3 less walks, that probably would have been his best outing of the year. I can't say that for sure, but it just seems like one hell of an outing. How'd he look in person, Bham? Also, how's Chris Stewart defensively and calling games? He's really turned it on offensively this year compared to years past, and is only 23. He's a guy that no one talks about on here, but he could be solid if he has finally got his s*** together offensively. For a catcher, his .296 BA, 8 HR's, 36 RBI, and 17 doubles seem just fine to me. Good to see Liotta with a solid start in W.S. And, Young's back!!
  16. Two quick questions: How old is Wagner? When does he become a free agent?

    Pajamas

I put other b/c it depends on the season of the year. In the colder months, I wear PJ pants and a t-shirt. In the warmer months, I just wear boxers and no shirt.
  18. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 02:34 AM) I grade Schnurstein over Fields (but I seem to be the only person who feels that way). You're not alone... And, although I haven't seen him in person, I can see him as being a big doubles guy too.
  19. This guy gets a lot of s***, but I saw this on ESPN's website, and thought he deserves some props.
  20. QUOTE(BHAMBARONS @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 03:55 AM) Barons 3 Jacksonville 2 W- Haigwood (1-0) L-Hull (3-3) Sv-Reynoso (6) Some great pitching tonight from Haigwood had a good fastball to complement a daziling curve, Dan had some good hitters looking bad tonight most noticeably Joel Guzman who was 0-3 with 3 K's twice swinging also got Andy LaRoche and Russell Martin twice. Words can't describe how well he pitched tonight that is a power lineup held to 5 hits in 7 against him with 8 K's. That's my boy! I love seeing one of my favorite minor leaguers doing well. Remember that he and BMac came in to our system the same year, and Haig actually had, iirc, better or about the same #'s as BMac in their 1st year. Then, Haigwood got hurt and missed an entire year, while BMac solidified his status as a top prospect.
  21. This is the exact same way the Sox signed Ehren Wasserman. He tried out at the Met and was signed. While he isn't a top prospect, he has had a couple of good years in our system.
  22. QUOTE(BHAMBARONS @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 05:46 PM) Pollok...has really struggled in the closers role. I've noticed that this year, and it surprises me b/c he was awesome in the closer's role for Winston-Salem last year.
  23. QUOTE(Spod=Ratings @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 03:17 AM) Guys if you want me to sim the entire senior season let me know. Go ahead.
