  2. Great Falls Gets Back on Track White Sox Go 4-2 by Evan Solon FutureSox.com After splitting their first 4 games of the week, the Great Falls White Sox won the last 2 to improve to 4-2 on the week, 19-13 overall. The Sox are in 1st place in the Pioneer League’s Northern Division for the 3rd week in a row, 3 games ahead of 2nd place Helena. With only 6 games left on the schedule, Great Falls is hoping to not falter and make the playoffs. Tom Collaro, who’s been a major surprise, led the White Sox’ offense for the 3rd week in a row. The 6-foot-4 Collaro hit .538 with 2 HR’s and 7 RBI. The 21-year-old outfielder also managed to score 7 runs, and hit a pair of triples on the week. Both of his HR’s and all 7 RBI came in one monster game against the Provo Angels, who have the best record in the Pioneer League. Another playing with an outstanding week was outfielder David Cook. Cook, a 9th round draft choice in 2003 out of Miami University (OH), went 10-24 (.417) on the week. Like Collaro, the 5-foot-11 outfielder also hit 2 HR’s and had 7 RBI on the week. Another player with a solid week was Chris Kelly, who hit .297 in 27 at-bats this week to go along with a HR and 4 RBI. The starting pitchers combined to have a 4.21 ERA on the week; Not as good as they have been, but not too bad. Their K/BB ratio wasn’t very good, though, with 24 strikeouts compared to 17 walks. The best start of the week came from Ray Liotta, who has been Great Falls’ most consistent pitcher all year. The 2nd round draft pick this year, went 7 IP, giving up 2 runs (2 ER) on 2 hits. The 6-foot-3 southpaw also struck out 7, while walking 4. Many relievers were used this week, so no one got too much action. The best single-game outings came from Gerron McGary and Jay Marshall. McGary, a 22-year-old lefty, went 3 IP, while giving up 1 hit, 0 runs, and recording 4 strikeouts. Marshall, who was a starter in Bristol earlier this year, also pitched 3 scoreless innings, giving up 1 hit and striking out 5.
  3. Here's a pre-2003 draft scouting report on Pierson: Other notes: runs a 4.66 40 and has a 39 in. vert. jump
  4. And, we traded for Shurron Pierson from the Raiders for a conditional 2005 draft pick. Bears Cut 7, Trade for LB
  5. Sweet. I hope we never leave Bham. It seems like the teams are just such a good fit.
  6. Buy... I don't feel like explaining in to detail why, but I just like Jon, and think he's a good pitcher, especially if he ends up being our #5 if we acquire another starter.
  7. I just saw the HR on SC, and man, Borch crushed that ball!!
  8. Getting Matt Cain in a deal would be so f***ing awesome. He's from the same town I'm from (I would have gone to the same high school he went to if I didn't go to a private school) and I got to see him pitch against my high school, and he was great. My high school's baseball team is always bad ass and sometimes one of the best in the state and sometimes nation, and he shut us down. I just have a good feeling about this guy. He's gonna be a very, very good pitcher as long as he avoids injury.

One question: If you have to be invited to have an account, how did you guys get it? And, if you were invited by someone else, then how did the original person to get account get it?
  10. Yeah. This article, as I said before, is a week old. There will definitely be mention of that in the next one I write.
  11. Hell yeah they are! They're very interesting. I've never seen the "donut" stat before.
  12. Everyone: Sorry for getting this up so late. It has been a crazy week (as many of you know) for Soxtalk, and Future Sox has kinda slowed up too. Anyway, this article is for August 16-22, not August 23-29. This week's Great Falls Review will probably be up tomorrow or Tuesday. Thanks Great Falls Struggles, but Stays in First By Evan Solon FutureSox.com With a record of 3-4, the Great Falls White Sox returned more to their mid-season form than how they had been playing the last 2 ½ weeks. However, the Sox’ record was good enough to keep them in sole possession of 1st place in the Northern Division of the Pioneer League. The offense was once again led by Tom Collaro. In 29 at-bats, the 6-foot-4 Collaro hit .379 with a team leading 2 HR’s and 12 RBI. Surprisingly, he also added two triples on the week, a very good number for a guy who’s not exactly the fastest player in the world. Also pacing the offense for the 2nd week in a row was Adam Ricks and Chris Kelly. The 21-year-old Ricks was 8-21 on the week, with 8 runs scored, a HR, and 4 RBI. Defensively, though, the 5-foot-10 switch hitter added to his team-high 11 errors with 2 more this week. He now has 13 in only 40 games played. Kelly, in his 2nd year with Great Falls, hit .400 in 25 at-bats this week. He also drove in 4 runs, and scored 6 runs in 6 games. The starting pitching did its job for the second week in a row. They weren’t as good as last week, but that would have been almost impossible to top. The starters combined to go 3-2 with a 3.25 ERA in 36 IP. They also recorded 35 strikeouts, while walking 10. There was no single-best outing of the week, because two players tied for that honor. Ray Liotta got the win, giving up 1 run (ER) in 6 IP and striking out 8, while walking 2. John Egbert also got a win, going 6 innings without yielding a run and striking out 7. None of the relievers had great weeks, but there were a few good single-game outings. Demetrius Banks pitched 2 innings of 1 hit, scoreless relief, but that’s all the action he saw last week. Boone Logan didn’t have a great overall week, but he did have one impressive game in which he went 3 innings, giving up 0 runs and striking out 5, while picking up the save.
  13. Sweet list. Thanks for posting it. Sadly, it won't be any use for me for another 2 years.
  14. I remember seeing clips of that guy standing in the middle of that race track. What a dumbass... :headshake
  15. That's pretty sweet! Nice job, Minny!
  16. !Bien! P.S. How did you get the upside down exclamation mark and the "~" over the "n"?
  17. Hmm... Maybe it got more repsonses than the others. Nevermind
  18. Woo Whoo!! the BDay thread I started for He Gawn got Bday thread of the week!
  19. That's a great example of why we can survive with the receivers that we have now. Another example is the Chiefs. Look at their top 3 WR's last year: Johnnie Morton, Eddie Kennison (their leading receiver among WR's), and Donte Hall.
