  1. There's a town in Tennessee called Bucksnort. I think it's kind of funny.
  2. They're both in the lead now; hopefully it stays like that! Also, congrats to Olivo on being named the 2004 all-city catcher!
  3. Wow, I think this might be the longest trade thread of all-time that didn't involve an all-star type player.
  4. Hummel had another good game today going 3-4 w/ a double or two
  5. Nice job by Esteban to get out of that inning w/ giving up a run after the triple
  6. I wish we could've gotten some more runs for Esteban that inning, but at least we got one!
  7. Whoa, we scored a run! I left to feed my dogs and came back and saw we scored. Way to go Timo! By the way, Perez is having himself a nice game from the leadoff position.
  8. I can't wait to see how Boone Logan does tomorrow night. He's only 19 (no player on G.F. is younger, except for Nachreiner and McCarthy) and is the #1 starter for Great Falls. I'd say that's pretty good. Here to hoping he has a great night!
  9. Nachreiner has some good stuff, and could really suprise people this year. I really like this kid, and look for him to have a really good year! I just hope his knees can stay healthy.
  10. I got this from the Sun Times: "Knight may consider Ohio St. June 17, 2004 COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio State had not contacted Bob Knight about its coaching position as of Wednesday evening, ESPN.com reported, but the Web site is reporting if an offer is made, Knight will leave Texas Tech. Marquette's Tom Crean and Rutgers' Gary Waters also are considered possibilities to replace Jim O'Brien, who was fired June 8 after admitting giving a recruit $6,000 five years ago. Knight, reportedly, was offered a three-year extension earlier this month to stay at Texas Tech, but he has yet to sign. Knight is 48 wins away from surpassing Dean Smith (879) to become the winningest coach in Division I history. Meanwhile, at least four calls were made from a cell phone issued to the Ohio State men's basketball office to the home of a woman whose lawsuit led to the firing of O'Brien, phone records show. In her lawsuit against two Ohio State boosters, Kathleen Salyers of Columbus, alleges that O'Brien and an assistant knew that player Boban Savovic received regular payments and classroom help, in defiance of NCAA rules. Salyers testified in a deposition in April that she agreed to take in Savovic after receiving a call in July 1998 from Dan Roslovic, who said he was calling from the basketball office of Ohio State assistant coach Paul Biancardi, now the head coach at Wright State. Phone records from Ohio State show four calls were made that month to Salyers home from a cell phone number labeled on the records as belonging to ''Basketball Assistant,'' Sports Illustrated reported first Tuesday on its Web site. The (Cleveland) Plain Dealer reviewed the records and reported Wednesday that they were for Biancardi's phone. Salyers said Biancardi regularly contacted her about Savovic and often told her he was calling at O'Brien's instruction. Biancardi has denied the allegations. Bob Noss, Wright State's sports information director, said Biancardi had no comment on the cell phone calls. Steve Snapp, Ohio State's sports information director, declined to comment. Salyers said she housed and fed the player for two years, spending thousands of dollars on phone bills, car insurance and spending money for Savovic, who was on the 1998-99 team that O'Brien led to the Final Four. Ohio State fired O'Brien on June 8 after he admitted he gave $6,000 in 1999 to Aleksandar Radojevic, a recruit who never attended Ohio State because he was ruled ineligible after the NCAA found out he had been paid to play in Europe. Ohio State athletic director Andy Geiger learned of the payment to Radojevic because it was mentioned in Salyers' statement in her lawsuit." I doubt that Ohio St. will end up getting Knight, but it would be interesting to see him back in the Big Ten. Also, I don't think that Ohio St. has a real shot at get Tom Crean. I mean, if Illinois couldn't get Crean away from Marquette, Ohio St. won't be able to pry him away either.
  11. What I can't believe is how much the Sox dominated the 2000 and 2002 all-city team considering there are so many damn Cubs fans in Chicago.
  12. Arnold sounds like a good player... I'm glad we got him. He should definitely help 2 years from now when we won't have Powell, Smith, and Ingram.
  13. I would hate to be the CF (mainly Biggio) who has to play out there.
  14. I haven't seen this posted anywhere, so if it's been posted already, then sorry. But, I just wanted to congratulate Tim Hummel on a very good first start for the Reds last night. He went 3-3 w/ a HR and 3 rbi's. I'm glad to see him get off to a nice start in the bigs! By the way, he's starting again today, so if you want to catch him play, the game is on ESPN right now.
  15. I've got the same feeling, especially b/c you have to give something to get something, and if we want a player that will really help us in the playoff run, we're gonna have to give up some good players. I hate to give up on Borchard and Rauch, especially Borch, w/ the way that they're playing now, but if it betters our chance to win the world series, then go ahead and trade them.
  16. If Whisler has in fact agreed to terms, that makes me pretty happy. I can't wait to see what this guy can do once he gets some great instruction by our minor league pitching coaches. He's got 4 quality pitches; he's just got to put it all together. Plus, he's a lefty.
  17. I can't wait until Great Falls starts playing! I love to see how our draftees (especially the ones we picked in lower rounds, who could be sleepers) perform in their first taste of pro baseball. Anyone know who the opening day starting pitcher for G.F. is gonna be?
  18. The Cell, the Jake, Riverfront, and Autozone Park (best minor league park in the country)
  19. I wish more people would read that FutureSox board. It's a great source for minor league news, stats, etc., and is great for draft news. It seems like most of the posts are made by the few people who read the board. It would be great to have more people so we can get more opinions on stuff, and it better educates the regular Sox fan on minor leaguers.
