QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 28, 2014 -> 01:48 PM) I believe the answer is, technically no. The players can certainly go get one and make it public if they choose. But either way, I think (could be wrong) you draft a guy then do a physical. Contract offer may then be effected by the physical. Again, could be wrong, someone can correct me. Based on the way baseball operates, I'm sure you are correct. But it seems dumb. You'd think the league would want to protect it's organizations by having all players take physicals. Like the NFL and NBA do.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 24, 2014 -> 06:58 PM) I've circled that game as well. Going to likely come out with a couple buddies (one of my best buddies is in Fatlanta). Nice. Keep me posted. Since you have a buddy who lives here, and you'd be going with a group, I'm sure you'd want to do your own thing... but feel free to hit me up if you want to tailgait together or anything. -
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 27, 2014 -> 07:38 PM) I can't seem to find a Tacoma for under 25k, but they're really nice. Ah, gotcha. To be honest, I didn't know how much they cost. Never asked or looked it up. But I do know that they supposedly hold their value very well.

What can you Purdue folks tell me about Ronnie Johnson (other than his stats)? Apparently he's visiting Tennessee this week. -
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 27, 2014 -> 11:07 AM) They haven't sold rangers in the US in several years now. I was surprised to find that out. Dodge doesn't make the Dakota anymore, either. I read somewhere that the small truck market is a quarter of what it was a decade ago. That would explain why there aren't that many there on used car lots. Anyone have any opinions on Chevy 1500? Are you trying to stay with American-made trucks? My brother has a Toyota Tacoma and loves it. I've ridden it in a few times and it seems to be a great truck. Smooth ride. Touch screen console with some nice amenities. It's a 2014, so he bought it new.

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Apr 27, 2014 -> 02:32 PM) Looking for an SUV with less than 30000 miles and no older than a 2011 for under 25000 and a 7 seater at least. Only one I seem to find is the Durango which looks really nice and has some decent reviews. Just want to do due diligence. Can anyone recommend any others? It falls just outside of your "year" criteria, but I love my 2010 Ford Explorer. It has 7 seats (fold-down 3rd row) and is a great ride. I've had it for 2.5 years and haven't had a single issue. Love that car. Maybe the 2011 version would fit your need.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 27, 2014 -> 06:36 PM) Just booked a flight to Seattle for the weekend of the Illinois/Washington game. I expect it to be a beat down but Seattle is an awesome town so should be a good time. That will be a fun trip. And as long as you go in knowing Illinois will lose (like you said), then you won't be disappointed by the game's outcome and you'll enjoy your experience even more. It's like my buddies who went to Oregon last year. We knew we'd get stomped, and we did. But they had a blast. -
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 25, 2014 -> 02:51 PM) This is great. Good for her. "Sarah Spain Calls Out Numbers Never Lie For Useless Knicks Talk" http://deadspin.com/sarah-spain-calls-out-...-kni-1567719949 That was awesome.

I honestly couldn't be any happier for Carroll right now. I was out golfing today but followed the game on my phone. Watching the highlights and seeing him get that standing ovation gave me chills. I can't imagine how both he and his family felt. What a great story.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 25, 2014 -> 05:08 AM) The Expos just scored again Haha... I remember that game well. It's weird because I can't think of too many regular season games from that long ago that I remember as vividly, but as soon as someone mentioned Munoz, my mind went to the Expos game. I was so pumped to see him pitch... and then that happened.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 23, 2014 -> 09:12 AM) But there is good weight and bad weight, that looked like bad weight. Exactly my point. Thanks Rock. I know a picture can be deceiving, but it didn't look like good weight at all. Guys bulk up all the time in football and can still look fit (not necessarily ripped) because they are hardcore working out year-round. Shae didn't look good at all in his "before" picture. -
f*** Kirk. One of the least clutch performances I've ever seen.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 22, 2014 -> 09:32 AM) The articles about it are a little more flattering. Running a 4.5 40 and doing a lot of other things. His biceps look pretty big in those photos. But this photo looks like one of the P90X commercials of Joe Schmoe making himself look better. I will commend him for putting in the time and effort. I can't decide whether I'm happy with him or not. What was he doing his 1st 2 years in the league? Why did he look so schlubby 3 months ago? I mean, I'm glad he's putting in some work now but damn, he should have been doing this years ago. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 21, 2014 -> 04:34 PM) It's so weird how much I like the guy considering how much I hated him at Florida. This. He has become my favorite NBA player but I absolutely hated him in college.

Yes, Happy Easter y'all! Rained all Friday and Saturday here, but today is beautiful. Trying to get someone to go watch the Charlotte Knights game with me.

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Apr 19, 2014 -> 06:17 PM) Seabrook hit a sitting duck and had plenty of time to line it up. And he didn't even have the puck. This was all on him, and the absolute principal point of contact was the head in an upward motion. This has been an emphasis for 2 years now. Intent, at this point, doesn't matter as much as what actually happened. Plus, Backes could be out the series, who knows. That should, and will, play into it as well. I think intent should matter when it comes to the discussion of suspending a guy. Did he mean to lay him out? Yes. Could he have let up without unleashing on Backes? Probably. But I don't think he meant to go up into his head.

QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Apr 19, 2014 -> 06:06 PM) I mean, does anyone think it's a PROBLEM that the Sox took a shot in the dark that failed? I sure don't. This is the time for it. Not worth taking any significant monetary risks at this point, thus your only smart option is to make moves like this. You should EXPECT, more than likely, that they'll fail. It should not come as a shock, nor should it draw any ire, when a gamble doesn't pay off. It was still a smart move. Well said.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 19, 2014 -> 05:54 PM) Yes a head shot because Backes changed levels and dropped down to the shoulder level. Clearly a penalty. He's my least favorite player but I don't think it was nearly as bad as everyone makes it to be and shouldn't be a suspension. I'm in agreement here. I know I've mentioned this before, but I'm a college lacrosse official so I have a bit of a unique perspective when it comes to refereeing a sport at a high level. Like someone else mentioned, you have to call it because of the contact to the head and the emphasis is to remove these types of hits from the game. However, I don't think it was Seabrook's intention to make head contact. Like you said Rock, Backes dropped down a bit. Still, it had to be called. I'm not sure a suspension is necessary, but I'm sure the NHL will give him one anyway.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 19, 2014 -> 09:41 AM) Sox actually have a little over $9 million to spend on the draft. I still agree with your point but it's more than $8,352,200. Right. Balta was talking about the team picking 4th (the Cubs). If he slips past 4, then no team after that could offer him $8M to sign because their whole allotment will be less than that.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 17, 2014 -> 01:01 PM) There is a lot of info on the message boards at chicagosportsfan.com. Sounds like something where Goff put a guy from a takeout restaurant on the air that wasn't a station sponsor and they used that to fire him for poor ratings. It was the 3rd sports station in a bad sports town to begin with though. If that's true, I just lost any ounce of respect I had left for Atlanta fans. They are awful and stupid. That's the only station I'll listen to. The others are really bad, but they've been around for a long time. Change is hard for people. Goff also used to get constantly ripped for "not being a homer." He'd tell fans how it is and they'd be pissed because he was a "hater." I can't stand people like that. The Falcons have major issues, the Hawks are nowhere near contending, and the Braves pitching staff is in shambles (albeit performing well right now) health-wise. Yet when people say that stuff, they're a hater.
