I wonder what HSC thinks of this? She might not be too happy. But, for me... I like the trade. I think that we might try to get Uribe to turn into a Juan Pierre type player with Ozzie as the manager now.

I wasn't sure about how soon players could be traded after they were drafted. Thanks for the info, Cerb.

White Sox Trade: Magglio Ordonez (prospect ?) Mariners Trade: Freddy Garcia Chris Snelling 1 of these 3- Rafael Soriano, Clint Nageotte, or Travis Blackley -the other trade option- White Sox Trade: Magglio Ordonez (prospect ?) Orioles Trade: Jorge Julio Melvin Mora Nick Markakis thoughts? comments?

If we made a trade with the Orioles, I would demand their closer, Jorge Julio, and Melvin Mora in return. I would also try to get Nick Markakis, a 19 year old OF prospect. I really liked Markakis coming into the 2003 MLB amateur draft, and I think he'll be a very good player. Many teams thought that Markakis could be either an OF'er or a pitcher, and the Orioles decided to make him an OF'er. If we wanted, we could probably switch him to pitcher, but I'd keep him as an OF'er. If we traded with the Mariners, I would demand Freddy Garcia and Chris Snelling (OF) in return. Then, I would ask for either Rafael Soriano, Travis Blackley, or Clint Nageotte (all 3 are pitchers). I've liked Snelling for a couple of years now, and think he'll be a very good OF'er. I like all 3 pitchers; however, I think Soriano and Nageotte have the best chance to be very good major league pitchers.

When is Soxfest this year?

Starters- #1- Millwood -or- Colon #4 or #5- Freddy Garcia Relievers- Any 1 of: L. Hawkins S. Sullivan U. Urbina Any 1 of: K. Ligtenberg A. Osuna A. Rhodes S. Kline S. Hasagewa Hitters- Tejada Soriano(Maggs trade) Jose Guillen(if we trade Maggs) M. Cameron

I hope we go after Kerry b/c like Jas said, "he shouldn't be too expensive and is effective." I think it was in All Star Baseball 2002 that Lightenberg was the best rated reliever in the game. He was like a 97 overall or something like that. That has to say something about the kind of reliever he is: a darn good one!

I wouldn't mind us signing Escobar at all. He pitched pretty well last year for Toronto. He could come in and be a good 4th-5th(depending on if we make a trade) starter.
-
I really like the idea of getting Garcia. I think that with a new team and a new pitching coach, he could possibly go back to his form of 2 years ago. From 1999-2001, Garcia was 44-19 with a 3.67 ERA, and if he could pitch like that agian, that would be awesome! If Garcia got back to his old form, then the loss of Colon would be a lot less felt.

I wouldn't mind trading Maggs for Percival and Joe Saunders. I would be extremely happy if we could throw in Konerko and also get Kotchman in return(Saunders wouldn't be apart of that 2nd trade b/c Kotchman is worth a ton... he'd be a lot for the Angels to give up). That guy's going to be a stud! Percy would really help the bullpen, and if we could resign Gordon and Sully, then we would have a pretty solid bullpen with Gordon, Sully, Schoenwiess(sp?), Koch, Wunsch, Percival, and maybe Ginter or someone else.

Hey guys! I haven't been able to post since back in August, but it feels good to have some time to do so. I'm in school right now and it's crazy. School take up a ton of my time. Anyway, I see that there are some rumors regarding Maggs being traded. I really don't want to spend the time reading all the posts about this topic, so I was hoping that someone could give me a rundown of what teams Maggs might be traded for and who might he be traded for. thanks.

I'm really excited about some of our prospects that played in the rookie leagues. 2 that I love are Robert Valido and Brandon Bounds. I really think Bounds has emerged as a top prospect at 1B and could be in Birmingham at the end of next year. The only problem with Bounds is that I think he's 23 and just finished playing in high-rookie league ball. Valido also played really well this year at only the age of 18. His hitting was the major question about him coming into the draft, and he's shown he can really hit the ball. He may have had a lot of errors, but he's still young and can improve on that. Plus, he was supposed to be the best defensive high school SS coming into the draft, so that means he must be pretty darn good defensively. Other guys I like: Clinton King- OF (Really came on stong at end of year, raising his AVG. about 75 pts. from one point in the season to the end of the year.) Mike Myers- SS (played very well, tying for team lead in RBI's) Ricardo Nanita- OF (nuff said) Micah Schnurstein- 3B (struggled after coming back from a broken wrist) Chris Young- OF (really had a break-out season) Ryan Sweeney- OF (played very well at Bristol and G.F.) Brian Anderson- OF (hit for cycle in like his 6th or 7th professional game) Brandon McCarthy- SP (I love the 125 K's vs. 15 BB's )

I didn't see a gameday thread yet, so I thought I'd start one. If there already is one, then sorry for posting this. But anyway, here are tonights starting pitchers: Garland vs. Santana It should be a pretty good game. Santana's a damn good pitcher, lets hope we can hit him well.

Which Jones are you talking about? Jacque? I've been away from the board a lot since mid-august(school started), so I'm sorry if this this has been talked about before and I should have already known who your talking about.
-
haha yea, me too

It's great to see Carlos get some recognition! Let's hope he can keep up his production. O, and, Sportscenter just said he's the 3rd most important player to his team any of the playoff races.

I'm sorry if this has already been posted, but with school and all I don't get to check out the board much. Anyway, I saw this and thought I'd share it: 09/04/2003 4:30 PM ET Broadcaster Rex Hudler suspended ANAHEIM, CA -- The Angels Thursday announced television broadcaster Rex Hudler has been suspended indefinitely by the team after his aiport arrest last weekend for investigation of possesion of marijuana and drug parapehrnalia. Hudler will be replaced in the broadcast booth during upcoming KCAL9 and FOX Sports net broadcasts by Jose Mota, a member of the Angels' Spanish radio team. I didn't know you were a broadcaster Rex! And, I thought you lived in Birmingham.

Congrats to Jeremy! He definitely deserved this title after batting over .400 in AA and helping lead Birmingham to a 2nd-half first place finish.
-
It's good to see another nice day for Borchard... And, Wow, McCarthy had an awesome night and continues to add on to his unreal K:BB ratio this year.
-
I can't believe no one has mentioned that Jeremy Reed isn't on the list for AA. Now, there was probably a certain number of AB's or games played that a player had to have to get on that list, but for Reed it shouldn't matter. He should have been on that list for AA and there's no question about it.

I like Hummel and think he'll be a good player, but we needed a RH reliever and we got a good one in Sullivan. So, I still like this trade even though we gave up Hummel.
-
WTF!! Why is Gordon closing out the game when we're up 13-2? Manuel is a freakin dumbass!
-
Way to go Maggs! That's 2 tonight.
-
Way to go Paulie!
