  1. It's super early, but I really like the fight in this Sox team. So nice to win a game like this.
  2. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 2, 2014 -> 03:49 PM) Didn't get to see a ton of ST and didn't realize how tiny Nieto is. Anywho, trouble a brewing. I had the exact same thought.
  3. QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 2, 2014 -> 11:07 AM) Story on Flying Illini. This was the year I started with Michigan. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/26578114-41...-prevailed.html Nice article. I never knew Michigan fired their coach after the regular season and let Fisher take over. I can't even imagine that happening.
  4. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 29, 2014 -> 09:59 PM) Athleticism. Just think of how J4L would evaluate him for the NBA and that's the knock. IMO he's a contributor and maybe a starter. Maybe. He's better than Mullens and Koufos and they play. This made me laugh.
  5. Just got a chance to watch the Jared Allen press conference. I fully expected this going in, but it's safe to say he won the day. I like him even more already.
  6. QUOTE (CyAcosta41 @ Mar 31, 2014 -> 11:49 AM) Straw man argument, man. I never suggested otherwise. IF Rodon at #3 is the proverbial BPA, then you take him. Without a doubt. But that wasn't my hypothetical. IF Rodon at #3 is plus or minus considered the same tier of prospect with two or three other guys, then all sorts of factors enter into what breaks the tie, one certainly being any "baggage" that he comes with. It's nice macho chest-thumping and all to say, screw Boras, I'm not scared of him, but disregard of history and practices is negligence per se. He's baggage and I'm certain that attorney/owner JR considers him just that. Deal with him if he's representing our guy, but consider his involvement a negative when breaking ties. Obviously, just my opinion, but Boras is as much of a known quantity as anything in baseball. As Caulfield said, please post more. Seems like you've got some good insight and opinions to share.
  7. Alright alright alright... Feels good to have baseball back.
  8. QUOTE (farmteam @ Mar 29, 2014 -> 01:13 PM) ESPN 3 probably has the most. Also, I'd check the teams' official websites. Tennessee, for example, televises every baseball game on UTSports.com. I imagine other schools do the same thing.
  9. Cannot believe the ref allowed the game to be decided by a flop (or, if you're biased, a 50-50 call at best) What bulls***. You just don't call that there. Let the players decide the outcome.
  10. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 28, 2014 -> 12:39 AM) http://deadspin.com/chicago-sports-radio-h...s-th-1553315358 I saw this earlier tonight. WTF.
  11. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Mar 27, 2014 -> 10:13 AM) This whole thing is such a circus. He's got music blasting, George Bush is there. Looks like about 200 other people. I love that he's throwing in shoulder pads and a helmet.
  12. QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 27, 2014 -> 08:50 AM) I also said this last draft. We got 2 starting o-lineman, though debatable whether Mills will need to be replaced. Bostic, I know Chisoxfn or NS want to be patient, but I was just appalled at how bad his instincts were. How many times can you see a running back following his blocker toward you, and you jump out of the way? That's crazy. Greene looks like ST fodder. Washington and Wilson are interesting but slow to develop. We need more like 50% this draft since 2012 was such a bust. Bostic was definitely underwhelming. I didn't like the pick at the time because I watch a lot of SEC football and he never stood out to me. But I was hoping I was wrong. I'm certainly not giving up on him because guys develop at different rates. He clearly has all the physical tools needed. We'll have to hope for a big jump in Year 2. Long... 'nuff said. I like Mills. He wasn't the greatest, but he was definitely serviceable. As a rookie who was a 5th rounder, that's all I could have hoped for. Hoping a full off-season will help him out and he'll take the next step. I don't expect Washington to do much. With all the DE's we signed, there's a good chance he's not on the 53 man roster next year. And Greene was disappointing for me. I liked him a lot coming out of Rutgers, but he too looked overwhelmed last year. I really like Wilson. I expect good things from him this year.
  13. QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 26, 2014 -> 08:21 PM) I hear you. I guess really we just need to hit on this draft. We need cheap talent regardless of where. We can't keep buying every position. Couldn't have said it better myself. This is a very vital draft for the future. Have to hit on some young talent.
  14. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 26, 2014 -> 05:32 PM) Mack is awesome, he dominated the entire OSU team. I remember watching that game because I wanted to see if the hype about Mack was real, and I came away very impressed. I'm became a big fan of his after that.
  15. QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 26, 2014 -> 06:27 PM) Yeah, that's exactly right. I basically want to keep trying for gold with the Onubun's etc. Waters was a TE at Missouri who basically did nothing reception wise, but blocked well, and then just tore it up on pro-day. If he does well, great, if not, not a lot of opportunity cost there. Sounds like he could be an UDFA type, in that case. I agree that TE isn't a huge concern right now, but if Bennett goes down, I'm not too comfortable with Rosario and whoever else out there. The TE position goes back to what it was pre-Bennett days. It's not my preference to take a TE on Day 2 of the draft, but if the right guy is there, I'd have no problem with it.
  16. QUOTE (scs787 @ Mar 26, 2014 -> 03:46 PM) Ebron would be a whole lotta fun if Trestman wants to use a lot of 2 TE packages....But ya, I'd still take Donald/HaHa and maybe Watkins/Robinson over him. I would like to add a 2nd TE, though, for sure. Like you mentioned earlier taking ASJ in the 2nd round, I would be okay with the Bears taking a TE in the 2nd or 3rd round. I like Fiedorowicz from Iowa too.
  17. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Mar 26, 2014 -> 11:54 AM) Best defensive player available. Still have to. Agreed, for the most part. If somehow, say, Greg Robinson fell to #14 (there is zero reason he would), then the Bears would have to take him. You can't pass that up. Same probably goes for Sammy Watkins. Neither of those things will happen because they just won't. But it's the reason I didn't say OL or WR. I included QB and RB as absolute no-go's because I there isn't a single QB or RB I'd take in Round 1 over a defensive player. You can add TE to my list too.
  18. Love this signing. I know Allen is past his prime, but I think he has some good football ahead of him. Several of you have pointed this out, but I agree that in a deeper rotation than the Vikings had, Allen will produce pretty well. I really like the depth we're adding on the DL. Also, it doesn't take away from the need at the 3-tech, so Donald/Jernigan are still very much in the mix. But it does improve the total DL depth to a point that I don't think they need to feel forced into taking a DT in Round 1. Hopefully we truly go Best Player Available (except QB or RB).
  19. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Mar 25, 2014 -> 04:54 PM) For the person who suggested using Uber while in Chicago, thank you! After reading reviews I was skeptical but we used it 4 times and with $20 credit I got we only spent about $15 on rides. Much better then using a taxi.. Going to back to Chicago in June and will be using it again.. Have to go through the stress of finding a hotel for cheap.. Won't be able to get the Hyatt Regency again for $75 a night.. That was awesome. You're welcome.
  20. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Mar 23, 2014 -> 07:25 PM) Congrats to Dasox as well. Tenn-Mich should actually be a very interesting game. Thanks, Row. I'm f***ing pumped.
  21. QUOTE (zenryan @ Mar 22, 2014 -> 05:06 PM) I'm as anti-Gators as they come and Donovan is far from being smug. Agreed. I hate Florida more than any other school in college sports, but I truly think Donovan is a good guy. Calipari, on the other hand, is as bad as it gets. He golfed at the country club I worked at in Memphis, and was as big of a smug asshole as I've ever met. He didn't tip either, as if he was too good for that or something. Awful guy.
  22. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Mar 13, 2014 -> 05:28 PM) Man, I love Savannah. Had Zaxby's for the first time. Delicious. Going to Paula Deen's restaurant Saturday. Oh man, love that place. There's one about a mile from where I live and it's always the default place to grab food if nothing else sounds good. In college we used to eat it almost every night after leaving the bars. I didn't end up making it to Savannah this year. Had a few friends who were coming to Atlanta last weekend, so I ended up staying in town. Heard it was a blast, though, by folks who went.
  23. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 21, 2014 -> 04:26 PM) Pomeroy loves them. Yep, which is why I put more stock into his rankings this year than any other . But seriously, no one else was giving us any respect all year (though we probably deserved it without our inconsistent play at times), so I've appreciated Pomeroy having our back.
