  1. The Hill Country is beautiful. Depending on where you are, Austin or San Antonio wouldn't be too far away. When Tex sees this thread, I'm sure he'll have some better input on specifics.
  2. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 12, 2014 -> 04:01 PM) @670TheScore: #Bears GM Phil Emery confirms interest in DE Jared Allen. Now the Bears wait for market to settle, writes @AdamHoge: http://t.co/sZjyirql3t This pleases me. Very curious to see if anyone meet's Allen's demands or if he ends up settling for less (or if he actually does retire if he doesn't get what he wants).
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 12, 2014 -> 03:18 PM) @BradBiggs Emery says he expects ‪#‎Bears‬ will likely re-sign TE Dante Rosario Weird. Why'd they cut him in the first place? I can't imagine the veteran minimum made much of a difference for the start of Free Agency.
  4. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Mar 12, 2014 -> 02:38 PM) I want Jared Allen. Agreed. Doesn't seem like that's going to happen though.
  5. I like the MD Jennings signing. I liked what little I saw of him in 2012. He was really bad last year, though. This is a one-year "prove it" deal with little risk on the Bears' end. I see no downside to hoping a change of scenery can do him some good. If not, we basically lose nothing.
  6. Looks like the Bears are adding Safety depth in signing Ryan Mundy from the Giants.
  7. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 11, 2014 -> 02:14 PM) 15M guaranteed That's the key here. $15 isn't too much, especially for a guy as versatile as Houston. He can slide down to DT (likely 3-tech) on passing downs. And he's the perfect DE for a 3-4, if they ever end up making that move. DJ Williams signed too.
  8. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 11, 2014 -> 01:11 PM) They are about to pay Whitner a nice hefty sum as well, and he is also on the wrong side of 30. And thats funnier considering they are allowing the younger, better Ward to walk Not sure what they're doing. Somehow they have managed to get older (and probably worse) through Free Agency. It just doesn't make sense. *Insert whatever joke about it being the Browns*
  9. QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 11, 2014 -> 11:56 AM) Yeah, from Michael C Wright looks like we will have big interest in Melton, whom is only getting feelers from the cap screwed Cowboys. I'd feel a lot better about Draft Pick - Ratliff - Melton - Houston... But the main issue is that is still a 1-deep Dline. I like Paea and Collins in the DT rotation. They provide solid depth. And if we do sign Houston, at 300 lbs, he could easily slide over to DT too. DE, however, is still very thin. Personally, I'd like to bring back Wootton. He played great for us 2 years ago, and played well last year especially considering he played mostly out of position. He's a team-first guy. I know he had the injury, but I'd like to see him back. I'm not sure he'll even get paid that much. Unfortunately, I see this playing out like Idonije, where it was clearly the wrong move to let him walk for a cheap 1 year deal.
  10. QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 10, 2014 -> 08:38 PM) Thoughts on a Revis Flyer? Only if they end up cutting him, and he could be signed to a more reasonable contract. I wouldn't trade for him and take on his $16M salary.
  11. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Mar 10, 2014 -> 01:39 PM) @ProFootballTalk DE Michael Bennett strikes deal with Seahawks. Four years. Terms coming. Sounds like a lot of people were fooled on this one. Just a few hours ago, La Canfora wrote that you'd be hard pressed to find execs who didn't believe Bennett would end up in Chicago.
  12. QUOTE (scs787 @ Mar 9, 2014 -> 12:02 PM) Everson Griffen gets 5/42.....Yeesh, I was expecting that type of number for Bennett. I'm a little less optimistic about Bennett/Johnson to the Bears now. So after seeing this latest report, maybe you were right after all. I figured that Bennett would sign with the team that offered him the most money, and that it wouldn't be the Bears. But it sure looks like that might actually be happening. http://www.profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2...ichael-bennett/
  13. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Mar 7, 2014 -> 04:48 PM) Going on a cruise in early September. Spending a night in Copenhagen Denmark, Warnemunde (Berlin) Germany, Tallinn Estonia, Overnight in St Petersburg Russia, Helsinki Finland, Stockholm Sweden and then back to Copenhagen. Pretty excited about it, Ive never been to any of those countries. This sounds incredibly awesome.
  14. UT, and many others, are beginning to kick off Spring practice. I'm just happy football is back, even if it is just practice. Exciting to see who has stepped up/improved, and what the EE's can bring to the table.
  15. QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 6, 2014 -> 12:04 PM) Why has money been so slow to leak for Bears players That's a good question. Trying to keep other teams from knowing how much cap space we have? That seems like a bit of a stretch because I'm sure they could find out (e.g. ask the agent) if they really wanted to. I'm not entirely sure. Are they just waiting until the player officially signs? Maybe we've only had verbal agreements when the deals have been announced, so they don't want the #'s to get out until the contract has been signed.
  16. QUOTE (scs787 @ Mar 5, 2014 -> 08:40 PM) The artist formally known as Jay Ratlff has been re-signed to a 2 year deal....No word on what the numbers look like yet. Glad to see him back. Can potentially start at either DT spots or add quality depth. Curious about the money involved, but I'm sure it's reasonable. Happy with this move. We badly need DT depth, and Ratliff is a solid vet.
  17. QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 28, 2014 -> 05:26 PM) I'm blaming the weather for my laziness the past month. Only been playing ball two nights a week. I'll get motivated soon...I hope I think that's fair. The weather can play a large part in how active you are. Now that the weather is getting pretty nice around here, I've been much more active. Yesterday, for example, I played 2 hours of 7v7 football and then went to the gym to lift. I just wanted to be outside, and even going over to the gym was a way to accomplish that. If it had been cold/rainy/etc, I probably would have been much more likely to stay at home.
  18. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 28, 2014 -> 03:31 PM) I grew almost another inch at about 25. Weird right? I was 5'10" or so going into college, about 6ft leaving and now I'm 6'1" So you're telling me there's a chance... But seriously, pretty crazy. That's awesome, though. When I turned 18, I pretty much resigned myself to the fact that I'm always going to be 5'9".

    Favorite Airlines

Got an email from Delta saying that in 2015 they're changing their SkyMiles program to award miles per ticket price (5 miles per dollar spent). I think I'll like that.
  20. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 28, 2014 -> 01:01 PM) I was the same way but then mid 20's ish hit and it got harder to stay thin and now its totally different. I was a bean pole until I was about 20 and then I grew 2 inches and became thicker. I'm 25, so I'm hitting that point. So far, I've stayed about normal weight even though I was traveling for work almost every week the past 6 months (i.e. eat out for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, usually with a nice dinner - e.g. steak, seafood, etc). It helps that I always stayed close to a LA Fitness, so I was able to maintain my workout schedule. 20 is late growth spurt. That had to be a pleasant surprise.
  21. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 28, 2014 -> 12:54 PM) Yeah but I dont see Bennett recruiting anyone but his relatives at this point. Can't argue with you there. Just felt like it was a good opportunity to take a shot at Rose for the thing that I dislike most about him.
  22. It's incredibly hard for me to put on weight too. I know it's a good problem to have, and I'll appreciate it as I get older. There was a time in college where I was eating 3 peanut butter sandwiches before bed and two bowls of oatmeal mid-afternoon (along with my normal meals/snacking). But it was hard to keep up, and while it somewhat worked, I still didn't add enough mass to make it worth it.
  23. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 28, 2014 -> 10:23 AM) Well, do you really want Rose to recruit his brother? Haha... you know what I meant.
  24. QUOTE (scs787 @ Feb 27, 2014 -> 05:58 PM) Recruiting like a boss Doubt it happens, but you've got to love him trying. Wish more athletes would recruit (ahem, Derrick Rose).
  25. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 27, 2014 -> 12:47 PM) I just finished pilates and wow, thats a different type of core workout. The thing I like about X3 so far is the focus on muscle groups that I didnt usually hit before. Lots of hip flexibility and joint strengthening. Something I believe I need for injury prevention. I would recommend some of those for the muscle groups you may be ignoring. For me, back weakness at times could be general core and ab weakness being compensated by the back. Thanks. I will definitely have to give that a look. And I think that's exactly it regarding core/ab weakness. That's what it was attributed to when I first had my back issues.
