  1. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jan 19, 2014 -> 10:18 PM) Sherman is always like this. Very true. But still, it seemed over the top for even him. Nobody ever says anything about him not being a good CB. In fact, I think most people realize he's one of the best in the NFL. Not sure why he felt the need to play the "chip on shoulder" card.
  2. Really couldn't dislike Sherman any more after his post-game interview with Erin. Like, what what hell are you talking about buddy? He looked like a major idiot.
  3. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 17, 2014 -> 05:19 PM) Not Sox related, but I guaranteed that LeBron would not sign with the Miami Heat to be D-Wade's b****. I'm pretty sure I'll never forget your stance on that. I wish you had been right. Um, there's lots of things I have been wrong about. But one for sure is that I loved acquiring Nick Swisher. Was really pumped about it.
  4. If their reading level is 4th-6th grade (but obviously more mature on a mental level), then you have to keep it somewhat simple, right? What about Where The Red Fern Grows? I'd say that's 8th grade reading material, so you kind of split the difference.
  5. Pulling for Peyton all the way. Not only is he the GOAT, but he's also a Vol. Also, he's the reason I liked Tennessee when I was like 7. My family had zero ties to that school whatsoever but I always liked UT.
  6. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 16, 2014 -> 04:00 PM) God I love those. Ditto. I really like the Dan Dierdorf email.

I'm more of a Qdoba guy myself. But I eat at Chipotle much more often because it's right down the street from me.
  8. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 16, 2014 -> 11:08 AM) The ESPN "OMG TOM BRADY IS SICK"-athon is tremendously annoying. Today there was a story on the homepage "Source: Brady to return to practice today". GMAFB, the guy had a cold yesterday. He isnt dying, he will play Sunday That's why I hate ESPN. Other than live sports, I haven't watched any of their regular programming in a long time.
  9. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jan 14, 2014 -> 02:08 AM) Yeah, this will be the 3rd straight year in Savannah for St. Patrick's Day. That place is amazing. Nice. I knew you had been before, so I figured. I went 2 years ago but not last year. I'll be going again for sure this year. What a ridiculous time.
  10. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 13, 2014 -> 05:08 PM) Ya, unfortunately for me within the last 2 years a lot of my college and high school buddies have gotten married and/or knocked up girlfriends/wives so it's getting more difficult for me to put something like this together. But it's something I've always wanted to do and I want to make it happen before I become creepy old guy. I know exactly what you mean. I only have a couple years left where I could feasibly pull it off and not come across as creepy old guy.
  11. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 13, 2014 -> 11:00 AM) From everything I've seen, i don't think it will end up being a distribution charge. It was found off of a traffic stop, he wasn't the driver and it wasn't his car. It seems he has some friends he needs to shed. Of off the field behavior, I just don't much care about this too much (unless he was selling a pound, but again, I don't think that will be the case). He seems to be a pothead, he's been arrested for crusiing, clearly. But compared to the s*** our basketball team had been doing in 08, if it's not violent or sexual assault, I don't really get too mad. Sucks if we lose him, but I don't think we will. I still hope he gets paid. If all he's doing is smoking, then yeah, that's no big deal at all. Probably have to serve some sort of suspension.
  12. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 13, 2014 -> 04:42 PM) I think I've mentioned it on this site before but Nashville is one of my favorite places. So much fun. Yep. This. I don't know anyone who doesn't like Nashville. One of my most fun weekends of college occurred in Nashville. It's awesome. And great for young people.
  13. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jan 13, 2014 -> 04:55 PM) Second kid was obviously an 'Oops'
  14. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 13, 2014 -> 04:18 PM) Did my most traveling ever in 2013(NOLA, Phoenix, NY, Philly, St. Louis) but only have another Arch Madness trip to St. Louis planned so far for 2014. I'm trying to convince people to do a legit Spring Break trip this year where I can drink, sit on the beach and drink some more all day and night, we'll see how that goes. I've been trying to do this to, but haven't been able to work it out. Most of my closest buddies from college are all still single, so we have no reason not to.
  15. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jan 13, 2014 -> 04:07 PM) I'm bringing this back. I've decided that in 2014, I'm going to travel as much as possible. I'm 24, now is the time. I've already got trips to Denver, CO and Savannah, GA planned, and I'm in the process of planning another to Arizona for Spring Training and will also be going on a cruise this summer. In regards to airfare, Sweet Baby Jesus is Kayak an amazing website. St. Patty's Day? And yes, might as well travel as much as you can. I tend to do plenty of spur of the moment trips. One of the nicer benefits of being single. Just do whatever, whenever.
  16. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jan 12, 2014 -> 02:57 PM) First of all, we need to see what the actual charges are before assuming he gets booted. Second, this doesn't ruin his NFL career at all. The NFL doesn't give a s*** about personal stuff. LeGarrette Blount just scored 4 TDs in a playoff game last night after all. What? If he was actually trying to sell a pound of weed, he's screwed. Da'Rick Rodgers went from 1st or 2nd round pick to undrafted because he was kicked out of school for smoking weed. In this case, we're talking about selling it. It's possible some team would give him a chance, but it will hurt him tremendously. He's going to have to do lots of damage control and he'll have zero margin for error. If he had kept his head straight, he would have been a high draft pick and making millions from the get-go. You're right, though. We do need to see what he's actually charged with. My statements are based on what has been rumored.
  17. First, awesome thread idea. Second, I feel like the only other obvious choice is naming him Rock Raines.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 11, 2014 -> 10:32 PM) If you're there over the winter there's some good skiing in the San Bernadino Mtns at Big Bear Lake. I don't know when I'll start heading there, but I don't think it will be until the Spring. Because Home Depot is HQ'd in Atlanta, I'll do a lot of preliminary work here locally. I do love to ski, though. If I get there sooner, definitely a good idea. I forget that there are mountains so close.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 11, 2014 -> 09:37 PM) If you golf, there are courses galore in the Palm Springs area, which isn't too far from Riverside. I do golf. That's a good idea. I've always heard Palm Springs is nice. I'm sure there would be some pretty good places to play.
  20. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 11, 2014 -> 07:22 PM) Lol it was a pound of weed. Wow. Goodbye. Way to ruin your career. Some kids just don't get it. What a waste.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 11, 2014 -> 06:35 PM) Beach on a weekend is great. Honestly they're all about the same distance from you...but if you're going on a weekend, the Santa Monica beach is simply a place you have to go. Maybe grab a meal on the pier, there's plenty of parking, there's tons of shopping on the 3rd street promenade right there if you're into that stuff. DO NOT try to drive there on a weekday. Weekend only. Weekday driving to the west side of L.A. is absolutely suicide. A couple sneakier, less known ones are Point Dume (Tony Stark's house in the movies sits on it), and San Onofre state beach, those are farther away than Santa Monica though. Plenty of touristy stuff can be done in L.A. If you can find someone who knows hollywood to give you a drive through past the sign, griffith park, etc., that's all worth doing maybe for more than a day. Catch a concert at the Hollywood Bowl. I know tons of stuff in the Pasadena Area, that's a ways from you but driving distance if you avoid rush hour. Santa Anita Horse track is there if that's your thing. You're also very close to Coachella. Tickets sold out in like 3 hours for the concert this year but can always be found through brokers. You should be close to Joshua Tree if you want a nearby park to hit up. Trust Yelp and various other review sites to find things fairly local to you just to grab quality meals. If you're in the L.A. basin usually things have had the chance to pile up reviews if they're worth doing. Perfect! Exactly what I was looking for. From the sounds of it, I'll have to make Santa Monica happen. Definitely would like to go to Joshua Tree too. I hadn't even thought about Coachella. I actually have some friends going, so that's definitely worth looking into. Thanks, Balta!

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 11, 2014 -> 05:50 PM) There isn't anything exciting in Perris, or Riverside for that matter, however, we can always try catching Sox game or something. I live about 50 minutes from there. And you aren't that far (when there isn't traffic) from LA / Orange County. I kind of figured there wouldn't be anything exciting around there... That would cool if we could work that out. I'm not exactly sure what my travel schedule will be like, but I'll keep you posted.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 11, 2014 -> 03:19 PM) What kind of stuff are you looking to do and will you have a car? If you have a car there'll be plenty of stuff to do. Yeah, I'll definitely have a car. As for what kind of stuff, well, probably some typical touristy stuff. Sight see. Hit up the beach on a weekend. Catch a baseball game. That kind of stuff I can figure out. But I guess I'm looking for things that someone not from the area would know about. Cool places to eat, etc. Any recommendation of the best beach to go to that's close?
