QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 11, 2014 -> 12:49 PM) DGB with another drug arrest. Gone or not? Very curious to see what comes of this. What an idiot. -
Yesterday I found out that I'm taking over a new project. I'll be working with Home Depot to open a new Distribution Center in Perris, California. It looks pretty far outside of LA. Does anyone (Jason?) know much about this area? Will there be stuff to do? I've never been to Southern California. I imagine I might actually stay in Riverside or somewhere around there.

Very cool! Nice work, guys. Great idea and great content.

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jan 10, 2014 -> 12:57 AM) And you thought nd had ridiculous special uniforms and helmets lately...oh boy. Ha, good point. UA does some ridiculous stuff (i.e. Maryland). -
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jan 10, 2014 -> 12:54 AM) I was never allowed to bench press growing up because I was a pitcher. But I love doing it at the gym now. Talk about instantly seeing results. There's nothing like a tight/sore chest a day or two after a lift. Having a big wingspan is such a pain in the ass though. Right there with ya. I love chest days. On that note, I did chest/tri's tonight for the 1st time in 3 weeks. I got pretty lazy over the holidays (I went on vacation for 2 weeks and had the flu), but now I'm back at it. Felt great to be in the gym.

Notre Dame switches from Adidas to Under Amour. That's pretty big news... Tennessee's Adidas contract is up next year, and most people at UT say they're going to make the switch to Nike. That would be two huge losses for Adidas. -
QUOTE (scs787 @ Jan 9, 2014 -> 04:03 PM) By lowering his cap number are you just pushing cap problems a year down the road? That's correct. It's half the cap hit this year and the other half the next year. Cutting a guy after June 1 allows you to spread the cap hit over a two year span.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 8, 2014 -> 07:14 PM) The problem is...$7.5 million in dead space this year is a lot of money too. If they cut him after June 1, then the cap hit is only about $4M. That amount of dead space much more manageable. Just something to think about.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 7, 2014 -> 04:32 PM) I think a ton of James Franklin after this year. From where they were early to finish like that and with a QB switch was incredible. He also got the MOST out of Jordan Matthews that's for sure! Sad news, Henry Josey is declaring for draft. He'll be my favorite Mizzou tiger for a long long long time. I hope he gets to stick in the NFL for enough to take care of him and his family for a while. Josey impressed the heck out of me this year. I had no idea who he was before the season, but that kid is good. Hope he checks out okay medically. -

If James Franklin accepts the Penn St job, they made a great move. I don't like the guy and he's obnoxious, but he can coach. And recruit. He's a great hire for that program. -
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 7, 2014 -> 01:40 PM) Yep, this is why I didnt want to freak out when Cutler signed, because none of us know how this impacts the cap, the roster, anything. We are all guessing. And especially given Emery's press conference remarks about rebuilding the defense and getting playmakers, it just doesnt make sense for him to commit a hefty portion to Cutler immediately. The guy told us he was going to get Jay the tools to be a great offense, and he did it right away. Why would he say the same thing about the defense(at the press conference announcing Cutlers contract, no less) and then immediately hamstring himself? And NFL GMs and Capologists are something else, those guys must have law and accounting degrees in order to do thier jobs. Cliff Stein is the man. I hope we never get rid of that guy.

Why the hell am I still awake? I'm going to regret this when I wake up for work in a few hours. Two nights in a row I'm up after 4am. I think I'll blame it on my 2 week vacation I took - it kind of threw everything out of whack. But really, it's just me being an idiot.

QUOTE (DBAHO @ Jan 7, 2014 -> 03:09 AM) My guess is Deng ends up playing along-side Kobe from next season onwards, he's the perfect sort of defensive glue guy they'd need next to him, and Mitch Kupchak would recognise that. Think it was just a move that the Bulls had to make. If they end up with one of Wiggins, Randle or Parker as a replacement, you'd be pretty happy with that. Whoa. Look who decided to join in... Good to see you posting. And yeah, best case scenario is to tank this season, get a lottery pick, and snag one of these studs. Plus, possibly get another 1st rounder (or two) if Charlotte and/or Sacramento somehow finish outside the Top 10.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jan 7, 2014 -> 03:11 AM) Page 184 of this thread is amazeballs. The last 5 minutes of that game had me s***ting bricks at work. What a freaking game. What a freaking win. 14-0. National Champs. Suck it, SEC. Tre Mason's Heisman celebration after his TD score now makes him look like such a damn fool. Eh, I don't know. Mason had a great game. He did perform at a Heisman-esque level. And that TD run (that preceded his celebration) was awesome. Dude was just having some fun. You wanna know who looked like a fool? - the FSU WR throat-slashing (or whatever gesture he made) the AU bench. That could have been a very costly mistake. -

After the game, Devonta Freeman said "They play big-time football in ACC, Big 10 & Pac 12" in regards to beating the SEC. Sounds like they were playing for all of college football tonight. This truly was an everybody vs. the SEC game. -
Also, all of the Atlanta area schools are closed due to "extreme cold." I've never heard of that before.
-
Whoa. Did not expect to see this when I logged onto ESPN Chicago. I like it. Didn't think the Bulls had the balls to actually make a move though. And it sounds like we're going to immediately release Bynum.

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jan 7, 2014 -> 12:49 AM) I still can't believe the fake punt worked. As they were lining up, I figured there is just no way Fisher fakes it here. But, auburn has to be in nothing but a punt safe, just guarding against a fake. Yet they still looked unprepared. The game's over if they stop that. Yep. That was the play that changed the game. I didn't watch the ESPN feed with the coaches, but apparently they all called the fake before the play. -
It's supposed to be -10 with the wind chill in Atlanta tomorrow. I've never experienced temperatures that cold. This is going to sound stupid, but I'm sort of looking forward to it just to see how cold -10 actually feels. I know as soon as I walk outside I'm going to say "f*** that" though. On the bright side, I've been traveling to Chicago every week from Sept - Dec for work, but didn't have to this week. Thank God.

QUOTE (zenryan @ Jan 7, 2014 -> 12:39 AM) SEC went 0-2 in the BCS this year. I'm not even a "SEC" guy, but let's be honest: it's still the best conference. There's really no arguing otherwise. -

Amazing game tonight. Really happy that FSU won. What a finish to the college football season. Can't wait for Signing Day, Spring Practice, and then August '14. -
This is why I live in the South. Though, it is supposed to snow here overnight. The low is 6 degrees, which is not normal for Atlanta.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jan 4, 2014 -> 07:40 PM) SEC! SEC! SEC! This has nothing to do with me being a fan of a school in the SEC. I grew up as a Big 10 guy so it's not like I'm trying to hate on the conference. I'm just stating the truth. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 4, 2014 -> 03:55 AM) What does OOC schedule have to do with anything? It's also about the become less important. We also have Vt and Oklahoma home and homes in the next 4 years plus a larger conference slate. The Big 10 is terrible. That's what it has to do with it. If you lose a game, you're done. If you lose a game but have some big OOC wins, then you still might have a shot at making it into the playoff. Also, you need to play the best to beat the best. If you keep playing bad teams, then you're going to keep getting beat when you play the big dogs. -
Taking out money for the rookies + adding the salaries of Cutler, Jennings, and Slauson will leave the Bears with just over $10M in cap space for free agents. I'd cut E Bennett and Bush, which frees up a little less than $4.5M. I'd either restructure Peppers, or cut him after June 1 (to spread the cap hit over 2 seasons), which would essentially save another $14M. This puts the Bears at just under $30M for free agents. Plus, some guys might sign extensions or restructure to make the cap hit more friendly this year. Between the draft and free agency + veterans available after June 1 cuts, I think enough pieces can be added to add quality and depth on defense. Sure, it's easier said than done and you're competing against 31 other teams for the same players. But getting the defense back to "respectable" is more than doable.
