  1. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 6, 2013 -> 07:33 AM) Chris Peterson leaving the smurf turf for Seattle. UW may have ended up better off with Sark leaving. (And it appears they did CALL Gary Pinkel like I predicted ) I most certainly think UW ended up better. How often does that happen after a coach leaves you for another program? UW fans should be really happy right now.
  2. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 4, 2013 -> 01:42 PM) 33 recruits, SEC, SEC 2 top 100 kids on scout. Hope you know im just busting your balls Haha, I do... After Houston Nutt signed 38 guys one year, no one in the SEC will ever live down the over-signing stuff. Also, we will have to trim that down since we can only sign 30 this year (25 + 5 EE's back-counted to last year's class).
  3. Give me some of that Josh Malone. WR U! Butch Jones is far exceeding my expectations on the recruiting trail. According to Rivals, 16 4-stars and two 5-stars.
  4. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 2, 2013 -> 12:57 PM) Woo hoo, indifference! So far I only really really hate Ole Miss in all sports. Haha. What's interesting is that the only other SEC that I guess I actually do like is Ole Miss. The Grove is unbelievable. Oxford is incredibly charming. Lots of fun.
  5. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 1, 2013 -> 09:26 AM) Meanwhile over the years SEC fans have had only pleasant experiences with Bama fans and they love and respect Nick Saban. Ha, I don't pull for anyone else in the SEC. They can all get f***ed. But I know what you mean - a lot of SEC fans root for other teams in the conference during bowl season. Sometimes on here I'll talk about how the SEC is the best conference. Because it is. It's insanely difficult week in, week out. So just because I'll tell you that my conference is better than anyone else's doesn't mean I root for other teams in the SEC. I hate Bama. I hate Florida. I hate Georgia (but that's mainly from living in Atlanta and the number of annoying UGA fans here). I'm indifferent towards the others.
  6. Been a little preoccupied, but War Damn Eagle! Love seeing Bama go down.
  7. QUOTE (Jake @ Nov 15, 2013 -> 08:58 PM) I am not happy with this optical illusion on the Toronto floor Ha, are you talking about along the baseline? That got me so many times last year.
  8. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 15, 2013 -> 05:38 PM) This video is hilarious. I would have reacted the same way.
  9. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 15, 2013 -> 01:01 PM) So anyone familiar with the mid-year financial agreement they've put in place this year? Essentially recruits in football can sign this agreement and the school is bound to them roughly 6 months before signing day. However, the kid can continue to look around and can decommit. We've had 4 players already sign it this month. On the surface it seems to really be an advantage to the kid, HOWEVER it comes with one stipulation. Once a kid signs this agreement, the coach of that school can have unlimited access to communicate with the kid. This applies right now to early enrollees only http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaaf...cruits/3010097/ I like the new rule. LSU was the 1st to do it a couple weeks ago with a 4 star QB, and now several schools are following suit. As you said, it's main benefit is to the kid because he guarantees himself a spot at whatever school(s) that he signs financial aid papers with. But from the schools perspective, you basically have no rules to follow anymore. They can publicly mention the recruit, have as much contact as they want, etc. It's really a win-win for both parties involved. Tennessee has had 5 guys do this so far. 4 commits and 1 undecided. I think it's the first step in what will eventually be an early signing period.
  10. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Nov 14, 2013 -> 10:34 PM) I guess. Usually that ceremony involved the walk to the fax machine. I signed it. OK, let's go home now? Isn't it an unwritten rule that B10 coaches don't recruit guys that have already verbaled? Yes, I realize Louisville isn't in the B10. And I realize this is Illinois so I'm biased, but I've always felt that trying to recruit guys that have already verbaled is shady. If the player announces he's opening it back up, fine. I also think guys should be able to sign as juniors...or even really whenever the hell they want. Would eliminate all this late nonsense and would have the coaches more in control than the players at that point. I used to feel the same way, but now I have no problem with it. In fact, I wish Cuonzo would do it at Tennessee. But since he's a Big 10 guy, he has a rule that once a player commits, he won't recruit him anymore. And he has adhered to that with no exceptions in his 3 years. And I'm saying this having been burned badly a few years ago by Aaron Craft and Josh Selby, who were both Tennessee commits. If other coaches hadn't poached them, and Craft didn't turn in Pearl to the NCAA, who knows where UT would be right now. We were ranked #1 at one point back in 2008, made the Elite 8 in 2010 (should have been Final 4 if not for a ticky tack foul call with 1 sec left in the game), and were really rising as a program. Then Pearl gets fired and we've missed the tourney for 2 straight years.
  11. Good job, Michigan. Learn how to recruit against the SEC. I need Bama to lose out on as many 5 stars as possible, and you're not helping here.
  12. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Nov 14, 2013 -> 11:43 AM) Da'Shawn Hand deciding between Michigan, Alabama and Florida today. Sounds like it is Michigan. Have to question a defensive lineman picking Brady Hoke and Michigan over Alabama. Go Blue. Keep him out of the SEC.
  13. Glad to have basketball back. I'm enjoying seeing Michigan St take it to Kentucky. I'm always a fan of whoever Kentucky is playing, but I've always liked Izzo a lot, so I'm legitimately pulling for MSU in this one. And of course, I'm excited to see what the Vols look like. I'm expecting big things this year.
  14. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Oct 31, 2013 -> 11:12 PM) Geno Atkins tore his acl. What is going on this year...
  15. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Oct 31, 2013 -> 01:46 PM) Wow, Looney shocks everyone. UCLA seemed to be just about everyone's last choice.
  16. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 24, 2013 -> 08:42 AM) Any other team in the country facing 4 teams in a row coming off a bye week? Jeez I'll gladly trade schedules with you.
  17. QUOTE (Capn12 @ Oct 19, 2013 -> 02:16 PM) I've NEVER seen him coach and playcall so badly. I honestly don't understand what he was doing. Had the ball at midfield, less than 6 minutes to go, and the SEC leading rusher in the backfield. What do you do? Throw it incomplete twice, and QB scramble? He better take the blame for this one wholeheartedly, the team almost won in spite of whatever the hell he was doing. Agree with you there. We all were saying Spurrier was f***ing yall over. Could not understand the play calling when Davis had been running great. Spurrier's cockiness lost y'all that game. On the flip side, Tennessee left a lot of points on the field. We screwed up a lot, and yet found a way to win. Proud of the Vols today. The defense only gave up 12 yards in the 4th Q. They kept giving the offense chances to pull it and out we finally capitalized (due to an amazing catch by the freshman WR).
  18. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Oct 18, 2013 -> 08:36 AM) GRONK f***in finally This pleases me. It's been so tough seeing him on the bench every week. Once Percy comes back, I'm going to love my team. Rivers Morris Forte Calvin Percy Gronk Ridley Bears D
  19. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Oct 17, 2013 -> 10:49 PM) Ya do that in a heartbeat. Not sure why I even hesitated... Done.
  20. Would you do this trade? I don't know why Calvin's knee injury is scaring me (b/c he's supposed to be looking fine in practice this week), but for some reason it is. I'd be dumb not to take this, right? When healthy, Calvin is the best in the league. Give up: RGIII Witten Receive: Calvin Johnson I have Phillip Rivers and Andrew Luck as my other QBs so I don't need RGIII. I do, however, feel like RGIII will be the best of those 3 by year's end. Also, my TE for this week would probably end up being Jordan Reed (he's a free agent) b/c I'm not expecting Gronk to play.

    Soxtalk Anonymous?

I definitely don't feel anonymous and I'm Facebook friends with several people (mainly from when I was helping out FutureSox). On the flip side, I have never actually met anyone (in person) who posts on this board. With that said, I think there are several of you who I would get along with if we ever crossed paths.
  22. QUOTE (Capn12 @ Oct 7, 2013 -> 03:00 PM) If you were at home, I'd give the edge to Mizzou. Home field seems paramount, this year more than I can ever remember before. Yep. You guys lucked out getting the noon game at Neyland. Obviously SC is still a lot more talented, but a night game in Neyland can be especially tough on teams (e.g. Georgia). The other downside is that it's Fall Break for UT so not as many students will be there.
  23. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Oct 7, 2013 -> 03:13 PM) I was there in 2002 and 2006 as well. We lost in 2002 because instant replay didn't exist yet. The end. Same as Michigan in 2000. That might be the worst officiated game I've ever seen. That game alone was a great proponent of going to instant replay during games.
