    Job Hunt Thread

QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Oct 26, 2012 -> 08:21 AM) Ya they pay overtime, just loading and unloading crates of metal products that the plant makes. It's nothing really special, by soxtalk standards anyway at 9 an hour, but its work. At the very least I'll be able to get a car, and then a nicer car out of it while I'm looking for something new. 1145p-815a everyday, I like those hours. I can wake up around 5, have some breakfast, hit up the boxing club, and be back in time to watch the Bulls or whatever prime time TV shows are on that day. It'll be a good way to save up some $$ quick. Congrats! Those hours don't sound bad at all. That's definitely nice that you'll still be able to workout and catch the Bulls games when they're playing.
  3. Tennessee and Georgia Tech had a "secret" scrimmage today where media wasn't allowed and no one is allowed to talk about it, report a score, etc. But, more than one source has said Tennessee dominated (without arguably our best player). Getting me excited for basketball season.
  4. I plan on going to the Bears game next week since Nashville is only 3.5 hours away and I've got plenty of friends up there to stay with. Pretty excited. The Titans fans support their team really well, but hopefully we'll have a strong Bears contingent like at the Dallas/Jacksonville games.
  5. QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 28, 2012 -> 12:38 AM) Bradshaw's questionable and I have Jonathan Dwyer on my bench. Who should I start? Redskins are awful against the run and Redman isn't likely to take away too many of Dwyer's carries. Redman is now listed as out if that helps. Dwyer should be the man today.
  6. I was really impressed with Notre Dame tonight. I must admit, I thought Oklahoma was going to expose that defense, but they played awesome. Oh, and as an unbiased fan watching the game, that was definitely an INT by Teo.
  7. I feel so awful for Lattimore. What a great kid and a great player. I literally feel sick to my stomach for him. Even though he plays for a rival, he's just one of those guys that I've always liked. I respect his game and his attitude. I really hope he can come back from this (a la McGahee).
  8. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Oct 24, 2012 -> 02:35 PM) Wowee wow wow: She looks better than ever.
  9. I don't think Suh's hit was dirty. It was vicious, but not dirty. I'll put it this way: if Peppers did that to Aaron Rodgers, I would have thought it was an awesome play. And I think most of you would too.

    Whatcha drinkin'?

QUOTE (Disco72 @ Oct 22, 2012 -> 12:41 PM) It used to be called Marble City, but they had a trademark issue and had to change their name. It's kind of off the beaten path in the Old City on Depot Street. Oh okay. Cool.

    Whatcha drinkin'?

QUOTE (Disco72 @ Oct 20, 2012 -> 11:05 AM) I've been hitting up a lot of local options such as the Highland Black Mocha Stout, the Foothills Octoberfest, and I tried the pale ale at a local brewery (Saw Works) last night. Thankfully, things are getting better in TN as far as brewing and selection. Of course, having Asheville so close also helps! You've intrigued me. I'm not familiar with Saw Works and having lived in Knoxville for 5 years, I was a little surprised. But then I looked it up and it looks like they started selling in 2011, so I was either gone (or soon to be gone) by then. I look forward to trying this out when I'm back in town.
  12. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 20, 2012 -> 09:51 PM) AJ McCarrons mom is a milf. I know this because if busted coverage Yes, yes she is.
  13. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 19, 2012 -> 10:50 AM) Returning Phil Pressey and Mike Dixon. Added Alex Oriakhi to be Center. Returning Lawrence Bowers (last year he had torn ACL, was our best player imho before last year, or at least a toss-up with Denmon). And we filled the 3 with a # of players. Keion Bell from Pepperdine, Earnest Ross from Auburn as backup PG, and in December former 5-star recruit Jabari Brown from Oregon is eligible. And Tony Criswell should be a big body. And yesterday Johnathan Williams III just signed on for 2013. I'm excited. We won't have 30 wins again. But the hard thing about last year was we absolutely could not get in foul trouble, so on defense it was hard to play aggressive. Now we have oodles of depth (13 scholarship to 7 players last year!), so playing time will be the question. That's a big pick up. I somehow missed that news... Tennessee was recruiting him pretty hard, though we're really hoping to fill our last spot with 5-star Austin Nichols (another wing-type out of Memphis).
  14. Oregon was incredibly impressive tonight. I only watched the first half, but wow. ~350 rushing yards in one half? That's ridiculous. I'm so excited that Tennessee is playing Oregon next year... On the real, though, I'm planning on going out to Oregon for that game. Even if we get destroyed, should be a fun trip.
  15. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 18, 2012 -> 01:05 PM) When it's all said and done I think we'll see Missouri in the top 10 at the end of the regular season. Didn't realize yall were supposed to be that good... The SEC East is going to be loaded this year. I fully expect Tennessee to be a Top 25 team.
  16. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 17, 2012 -> 05:07 PM) I think I know which way I'm leaning, but I need advice PPR league, standard scoring otherwise, WR/RB flex, do I start Kendall Wright or Mike Williams (TB)? Wright got me 13 last week and has a pretty nice matchup with the Bills for slot receivers, but Mike Williams has been really good the last 2 weeks and faces a terrible New Orleans pass defense. In the same vein, I need to start one of Scott Chandler and Aaron Hernandez. Logic says to start Hernandez, but the Jets generally play the Patriots pretty tough, and the Tennessee secondary and linebacking corps is not very good. Or should I just flip a coin and hope for the best? I'm 5-1 on the year and going up against the only other 5-1 team in our league, so winning would be pretty sweet. I say Hernandez no question. He only played like 20% of the snaps last week as they eased him back and he still had double digit points. As for Wright or Williams, that's a tougher one. But I think Williams. It's all about how you trust Freeman b/c he is so hit or miss. Wright is losing targets, though, as Britt is finally healthy and getting comfortable with the playbook. And Nate Washington always gets a good number of targets in that offense/has good rapport with Hasselbeck.
  17. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 16, 2012 -> 11:25 AM) Mike Holmgren......HE GAWN!! Jimmy Haslam not wasting any time, is he? It's the right move. Holmgren is washed up. They badly need new direction in that front office.
  18. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Oct 16, 2012 -> 09:03 AM) I like it value-wise, but you're probably going to be looking for another RB once McFadden has his annual injury. That was actually my main reservation (McFadden injury), but I just said screw it and hope for the best.
  19. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Oct 14, 2012 -> 02:55 PM) Very possibly. I have Stafford too and just can't trust him. Thank goodness he turned it up in the 4th quarter and salvaged a good fantasy week. But, I'm going to try to unload him if possible. And I just did. I was just sick of the inconsistency at QB, so I traded Stafford/Green Ellis for Drew Brees. I have McFadden/Ridley/Donald Brown (only out 1-2 more weeks) at RB. I felt BJGE was expendable. Not sure if this was smart, but we'll see. I just had to make a move.
  20. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Oct 15, 2012 -> 02:28 PM) Just saw this. Anyways, it was Brady Quinn and Michael Bush for Mikel Leshoure The other guy already had Matt Cassel and his other QB was Brees (bye) so he needed a starter. I had 4 QBs and needed a RB with two of mine on bye. Other guy also had 6 RBs. So both of us traded from excess to get a need. Both teams would have benefited. Two people responded and said they vetoed the trade because they didn't want to see our teams get better. Another guy said he vetoed it because he saw that the other guy didn't have a QB if the trade didn't go through. Just stupid stuff. I wouldn't stand for that at all. Those owners need to be kicked out of your league (if that's an option) after the year is over. As long as a trade is reasonably fair (and yours seems to be), you can't veto a trade just because it makes another team better. The veto is in place to prevent collusion/cheating. Your trade seems to be neither.
  21. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Oct 15, 2012 -> 11:41 AM) Yeah, after the Texans getting blown out and the Ravens almost losing at home to Dallas, it's hard not to see the Bears as the 2nd best team in the league right now. Plus, with the Ravens losing Webb to a torn ACL and maybe losing Ray Lewis for the year, they're about to fall off a good bit.
  22. QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 14, 2012 -> 02:19 PM) I'm gonna have to start playing Ponder over Stafford, aren't I? Very possibly. I have Stafford too and just can't trust him. Thank goodness he turned it up in the 4th quarter and salvaged a good fantasy week. But, I'm going to try to unload him if possible.
  23. QUOTE (Capn12 @ Oct 10, 2012 -> 04:03 PM) We find a way to beat LSU, then there is the HUGE game at Florida for what amounts to the SEC East title. That is no slight towards Tennessee, but thats our last conference road game, and a win in both of them would most likely be the division. Ya'll have a good game I'm looking forward to this week. I mean, Miss St looks pretty decent, but part of me always thinks that Tennessee will handle Miss St, regardless of where it is. No, I know. With 2 SEC losses already, we don't stand much of a chance to win the East. It would take a miracle. And I'm right there with you about our game. It should be good, but I like our chances a lot. While Miss St is 5-0, they haven't really played anyone good this year so I'm not sure how much I believe in them. But, night games on the road in the SEC are always tough, so I won't be too over-confident.
  24. QUOTE (Capn12 @ Oct 10, 2012 -> 04:34 AM) Part of me wants to believe that we can go into Baton Rouge, at night, and beat a pretty average LSU offensive team.. Then the other part of me remembers that Les Miles has lost 1 home night game ever.....and that was to the 2009 BCS champion Florida team. This one is going to test my heart, Saturday night. I definitely know what you mean about playing a night game in Death Valley, though I still think SC wins this one. But yeah, Les Miles always seems to find ways to win so it should be a good game. Btw, thanks for the beatdown y'all put on Georgia. I loved it.
  25. ELIAS is changing Mendenhall's 13 yard TD run to a 13 yd TD catch. And with that, Big Ben gets a passing TD added to his stats. I have now lost one of my games from last week b/c the guy I played had Roethlisberger.
