  1. Anything For You - Gloria Estefan and Miami Sound Machine... Yikes.
  2. QUOTE (Capn12 @ Aug 27, 2012 -> 03:58 AM) 3.......days...........away........ The theater is up and ready... Let's get this 2012 season going already! That is excellent... I think I could manage watching games in there.
  3. What a win! After that 1st inning and the horrible strike zone by Barrett, I didn't feel too good about a win here. Flowers was huge tonight.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 25, 2012 -> 08:19 PM) So the last three Friday games at the Cell, the Sox won on a walkoff. The Saturday game after the first two Friday wins, Thornton got the loss. I really don't want to see Thornton pitching in the 7th There you go...
  5. A little late to the party, but... I freaking love AJ. That was an awesome ejection. And I've never seen Ventura get that angry. I thought Barrett was going to cry for a second.
  6. QUOTE (Capn12 @ Aug 24, 2012 -> 11:24 AM) I'm most interested to see how Tennessee's running game looks this year. It was pretty abysmal last year, and thats not something I'm used to seeing from Tenn. I also read Rogers' issues might have stemmed from some plagiarism in classes to stay eligible. Who the hell knows though, regardless it is a shame that these knuckleheads can't stay focused long enough to survive 3 years in college. The running game was definitely awful last year. It's definitely not something I'm used to as a Tennessee fan. I'm really hoping we have it figured out. By all accounts, the running game has looked very good so far but we'll see what happens once they start playing real games. I think stealing Jay Graham from you guys was a big hire. And quite honestly, with all of our starting o-lineman coming back, they have to be better. They are all upperclassmen now (except for our Soph LT). And our starting RB this year is Rajion Neal, who has now set all of Tennessee's strength and conditioning records (except for 1) at the RB position. Kind of crazy when you think of all of the awesome RB's that have played at Tennessee since the 1990s (when they really started tracking all these strength and conditioning things) - Jamal Lewis, Travis Henry, Charlie Garner, James Stewart, Arian Foster, Jay Graham, Cedric Houston, Montario Hardesty, etc. All of those guys are/were NFL RBs. But, we'll see if Neal is just a workout warrior or if he can back it up on the field.
  7. QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 24, 2012 -> 08:50 AM) That's really impressive. I'm an RA and I see people not getting their fridges through a single year all the time Damn. That makes me feel pretty lucky. The mini fridge I used was the same one my sister used in college - and she's 8 years older than me! And it still works. It's now 14 years old.
  8. QUOTE (Capn12 @ Aug 24, 2012 -> 05:25 AM) Well, actually most sources say its from repeated violations of substance abuse. Now, whether that is weed, or whatever, who knows, but he isn't getting the boot due to just talking back to a coach. Lets not cast Rogers as a model citizen who just can't hold his tongue. The kid is pretty bad trouble. Oh, he's definitely bad trouble. I never said he was a model citizen. But there's plenty of guys in college football who have bad attitudes and big egos that are able to keep it check to the point where they don't get kicked off the team. Most of them are at least selfish enough to follow the rules not because they agree with them, but because they want that NFL paycheck. And I know for a fact that it wasn't just substance abuse. If it was just drug-related, he would have had a 1 game suspension. From what I know (and this is from a friend's friend who works for the football team so it may not be 100% accurate): this "indefinite" suspension was caused because he flipped out on the coaches and said some malicious/ridiculous things, so they had no choice other than to suspend him. Of course, that stemmed from the fact that he was going to get suspended for the 1st game b/c he failed a drug test. It wasn't the failed drug test. It was how he handled the news of his failed drug test and subsequent suspension. Regardless, most guys on the team didn't like Rogers. So I can only hope this is one of those "addition by subtraction" situations.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 23, 2012 -> 03:24 PM) Well, they do give out show-cause penalties so that guys really struggle to get jobs in the NCAA, but a guy can go to the NBA to hide from that (see: Kelvin Sampson). Okay, yeah. I don't mean they literally never go after those coaches. But a lot of times they don't. See: Calipari at UMass and Memphis
  10. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 23, 2012 -> 12:11 PM) I wouldn't call that bad luck. Well, yeah, but you know what I mean. It could have been any number of players and I wouldn't have cared much. But it just happens to be that our Top 5 in the country/future 1st round draft pick at WR decides to be a freaking idiot and blows up at the coaches and essentially gets kicked off the team. It's not like he robbed someone or was selling drugs. He mouthed off to Dooley and is paying the price. With all the other stuff that has happened to this program in the last 10 years, I'd consider it an extension of our run of bad luck.
  11. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 23, 2012 -> 11:34 AM) He has time to bolt. He wont be at UK for more than 3 more years, Im sure of it. I feel the same way. He's as shady as they come. I mean, the guy is an absolute slimebag. As soon as the NCAA starts figuring stuff out about Kentucky, he'll bolt. I can't stand the fact that the NCAA doesn't go after coaches once they leave a program that gets sanctions. It really doesn't make sense. But then again, not much makes sense when it comes to the NCAA.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 23, 2012 -> 11:04 AM) Tennessee suspends WR Da'Rick Rogers, probably for the season. Definitely for the season. No way he gets out of this one... Tennessee literally has the worst luck of any program in college football. FML...
  13. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 20, 2012 -> 05:46 PM) Indiana fan complaining about the recruitment of a committed player? Damn, that's awesome. Well played...
  14. Really hope Podlesh's hip injury is not too bad. That would be a huge blow.
  15. RGIII struggling against a legit defense. That sack and forced fumble was beautiful... And what a juke by Bush on the TD run! Gosh, we look good.
  16. QUOTE (daa84 @ Aug 18, 2012 -> 06:17 PM) this is a real f***ing offense.....cutler is going to have a monster year So freaking awesome watching a legitimate offense. I know it's just preseason, but it's really hard not to be excited after watching the offense so far.

    Job Hunt Thread

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Aug 16, 2012 -> 06:33 PM) For the first time in my life I didn't get a job I interviewed for, kind of in disbelief. Sorry to hear it. I've been there before. I think it will end up helping out in the long run. Just make sure to view it as a positive learning experience. Edit: Basically, what Shack posted...
  18. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 14, 2012 -> 07:30 AM) They actually won two in a row vs. Milwaukee this past weekend. However, that was preceded by a stretch of 4-34 baseball. Yowza. Which makes it even more amazing that Lucas Harrell has a winning record for them (9-8).

    THE Rockraines

QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 13, 2012 -> 04:02 PM) Wait until you start getting hungover for real, being able to spend a night in with someone you care about seems way more awesome than it did a few years ago. Haha, my older siblings can attest to that.
  20. Interesting to see Tennessee as a #10 seed. I know I'm biased, but they'll be better than that (barring major injury, of course). I'll guarantee that right now. Also, speaking of the bracket, I have friends from IU that have already put their names in the lottery to win Final 4 tickets b/c they're that confident IU will be there. I like their confidence.
  21. QUOTE (danman31 @ Aug 13, 2012 -> 03:05 PM) That said, Bristol is getting crushed. It's probably not easy to be on a team like that and maintain your top focus. Maybe heading to Kanny, which granted has also struggled lately, might be a nice refresh and reinvigorate him to finish the season strong. Pure speculation, but being on losing teams can be a black hole of performance. Yeah, what's up with Bristol? They are terrible, literally, every year. I expected this season to be different with all of the high draft picks going there and some repeat guys, but they still suck. That team is a black hole.

    THE Rockraines

Congrats, Rock Not to sound lame, but I do look forward to the day when I'm in your position. I mean, I really enjoy life right now and not being tied down. I enjoy doing whatever I damn well please and can't imagine getting married yet (I'm 24). But I also look forward to the time in my life when I do end up getting married. I don't know if that makes sense...

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 10, 2012 -> 07:33 AM) Keep this in mind... http://deadspin.com/5933467/i-would-like-t...est-letter-ever I'm not sure if that will end up being good or bad for her in the end, but I do know that her email was awesome.
  24. QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Aug 11, 2012 -> 09:43 AM) Damn, I really wanted to ghost ride the Volvo. f*** it: That video never gets old.
