  1. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Aug 7, 2012 -> 04:38 PM) Only 1 man I can imagine luring a young boy away from Tom Crean's love, and that man is Calipari.

    Twitter/Facebook

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 7, 2012 -> 03:50 PM) If you don't follow those people that makes it a much better site. Oh, absolutely. There are people that I refuse to follow (even if they follow me) because they constantly post about what they're doing, how the feel, etc. And quite honestly, I just don't care.

    Twitter/Facebook

I definitely use both. I use Twitter all day. I don't really post my own thoughts very often, but rather use it to as a one stop shop for all my sports news. I absolutely love it. I can get quick updates on all of my favorite sports teams in an instant. That's where I see the major benefit in Twitter. I feel like most people who don't use Twitter think of it as a way for people to give constant updates on what they're doing, but that's not it at all. I mean, some people do use it that way (i.e. Facebook status updates), but that's not how I take advantage of Twitter. And Facebook is a great tool to keep in touch with people, but that's really all I use it for. I don't really use it that often.
  4. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 7, 2012 -> 10:34 AM) Video already taken down. IOC is being ridiculous with their copyright notices. Wow, that was quick. The IOC is really pissing me off with the copyright infringement.
  5. Mock commentary on Olympic Sailing: http://www.awfulannouncing.com/2012-articl...asterpiece.html Pretty funny. It essentially sums up my thoughts if I was watching sailing. I had no idea what was going on.
  6. QUOTE (flippedoutpunk @ Aug 6, 2012 -> 12:17 AM) Dont know if this is old or not, but apparently Tom Waits was Ledgers inspiration for the Joker character that he played. Pretty cool stuff. http://www.hollywire.com/2012/08/heath-led...er-and-its-spot Whoa... I know they cannot 100% confirm this, but it sure would make sense.
  7. Definitely an awesome win today and great for us out-of-towners that we could watch it... Unfortunately, I did not know the Tigers won until now. I assumed it was over. F'n Indians.
  8. Going to the Braves-Astros game tonight. I'm pretty excited to get to see Lucas Harrell pitch for the Astros because he was my first ever interview when I wrote for FutureSox. He was a great guy and a great interview. I've always been a fan since then. Really glad he has been able to find some success at the Major League level (even if he's on the worst team in baseball).
  9. QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 4, 2012 -> 03:05 PM) My umpire contact says that any umpire that has graduated from the professional school would do this. Wow, really? That's weak. Baseball umps seem to have thinner skin than officials in any other sport. Football refs consistently get yelled at and berated (especially the guys on the sideline) and they just take it.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 2, 2012 -> 01:02 PM) An Ex-Sox pick that a lot of people were upset we didn't sign. Kevin Goldstein ‏@Kevin_Goldstein The Philadelphia Phillies have released LHP Bryan Morgado, a 4th-round pick in 2010. Former Vol. I was definitely one of the people who was really disappointed we didn't sign him. Guess it ultimately didn't matter too much.
  11. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Aug 2, 2012 -> 12:23 PM) I only watch sporting events on ESPN, no talking heads. 100% this. I absolutely cannot stand ESPN other than the actual sporting events. I prefer MLB/NFL Network for my sports analysis if I am watching TV. However, I mostly get all of my news from the internet.
  12. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 09:51 AM) We certainly do get excited over one game don't we? Not really. I'm looking more at his last 2 months and the fact that you know what you're getting. We're probably going to lose Peavy and trading Floyd is likely, so I'd like to add another vet to the rotation for next year. Other than Sale and Danks, I don't really trust any of the other guys for next year. Given that he's seemingly turned it around since late May, and now that Coop will be able to work with him, I'd feel comfortable exploring options to give him an extension. Now, Balta, if you're talking $10M/yr, then no. I'm not sure that's what I'd consider fair. But are teams really going to give a guy that much who has had a 5+ ERA for most of the last few years? Given how low his actual trade value was (i.e. How much other teams think of him too), I didn't think he'd be getting that much on the open market.
  13. QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 04:30 PM) Even though it's the dull Dolphins, sorry Rowand/Carter, I'm excited about premiere of HARD KNOCKS next week. Agreed. I'm not particularly excited about the Dolphins, but I always love Hard Knocks so I'm excited to watch it regardless.
  14. QUOTE (chimpy2121 @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 07:51 AM) Greg Reid continues his dumbass-ness and gets kicked off the team. Good riddance. I'm glad Jimbo dropped the hammer. I'm surprised. I figured he would have gotten suspended for a couple of games, but then again, I didn't read too much into the whole story. Good for Jimbo. Regardless, that will be a big loss on the field (even if you guys have depth to fill the void).
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 12, 2012 -> 10:18 AM) I blame Bruce Pearl As for Pearl on ESPN, he's absolutely going to kill it. He'll be great for them.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 03:36 PM) @KCJHoop After Nate Robinson signing, Bulls are either done or might add Tracy McGrady. As I said on TalkBulls, are we trying to recreate the 2011-2012 Atlanta Hawks bench? Hinrich, Radmon, TMac... Very underwhelming. I bet Gar was disappointed that Stackhouse signed so quickly with the Nets.
  17. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 11:46 AM) It's official...North Korea has the ugliest women's soccer team. As someone said on the radio today, they all have the "Pete Rose" haircut. Thought that was pretty funny.
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 08:06 AM) I didn't see an AAP on him, but this is a great read on Mitch Mustain http://www.latimes.com/sports/college/usc/...4341,full.story Good stuff. I had completely forgotten about his run-in with the law trying to sell those prescription drugs. This kid was always a hot-head and I didn't like him very much in his college days, but he seems to have figured it out a bit. I'm definitely pulling for him. Honestly, he should have never left Arkansas. If he had stayed and Petrino became his head coach, Mustain would likely be in the NFL right now.
  19. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 12:19 AM) I hope the Sox are talking about it. He's got a great arm and if you could get him to go 3 years at a fair price, it would be great. Maybe even go 2 years if he'd prefer a shorter deal where he can prove himself and then sign a big fat deal somewhere else. Definitely. I'd be very open to re-signing Liriano to a 2 or 3 year deal. Gives us a guy who can eat some innings and a solid vet in the rotation. Plus, we can get the occasional lights out performance that he's capable of.
  20. Encouraging first start from Liriano. I'll take that all day. Any concern over Konerko's ankle? I haven't heard anything, but he definitely rolled it pretty good on that last play. I imagine he'll miss a couple games.
  21. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 06:09 PM) UCF is going to be a sleeper team this year, I suspect they are bowl bound and a decent one at that. Yeah both of us sucked coming off good seasons and are kind of on the uptick. In a year or two would have been good timing especially since we lost the Vols and the Pac 12 games. I was just talking about this with a buddy the other day. We were both really disappointed about losing OSU from the schedule. Would have been a fun series.
  22. QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jul 26, 2012 -> 03:51 PM) Former 2nd round pick, 35th overall in 2010. 2009 Pac 10 Defensive Player of the year and All American. I really like this move. High upside and little downside. He has a lot of ability, but has dealt with some injuries and personal issues (his sister died this off-season and he's had 2 brothers die previously). If he doesn't pan out, I won't miss that 7th round pick.
  23. This worked out incredibly well yesterday. Our systems went down at work yesterday for about 3 hours, which also coincided with the White Sox game. It was the perfect storm because I was actually able to watch the first 6 innings before having to get back to work.
  24. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 25, 2012 -> 04:16 PM) My favorite part was Matt MCGloin coming out and saying he is staying "for the team and fans." Trust me dude, they didnt actually want you to stay. Exactly. His other option would be transferring and getting to sit the bench his senior year.
