QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 5, 2012 -> 02:10 PM) Yes, we care about teams, but dont care about SEC hillbillies laughing at anything. It amazes me that the teams and fans in the SEC band together like they are all superior, its 1 or 2 teams that are good, the rest of you are in the main bucket like everyone else. "SEC hillbillies?" That's mature, Rock. -

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 5, 2012 -> 11:13 AM) I dont care at all about the SEC, it means nothing to Big 10 football. Sure it does. It prevents the Big 10 from hardly ever winning BCS bowl games, much less National Championships. Therefore, you should care. It's the one league that stands in your way of being the best. -
Don't know anything about this Beck guy, but I love what I'm hearing. Thought of as a Top 10 pick coming into the season, but just didn't perform consistently. So he obviously has the stuff. I like the value on this guy in R2.

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jun 5, 2012 -> 12:24 AM) Not sure what the Big Ten is doing. http://cfn.scout.com/2/1191938.html I have no idea what they're thinking. They're being really dumb about this whole thing. I can safely say that the B1G is getting badly ripped on down here in SEC country. -
QUOTE (PolishPrince34 @ Jun 5, 2012 -> 08:23 AM) Keith Law... I could have stopped you right there. I've stopped taking what he says into consideration.

When they asked Hawkins to do that back-flip, I just kept seeing him tearing his ACL or breaking an ankle or something awful... I love the pick. I'm all about high-risk, high-reward guys.

My girlfriend and I are heading to Panama City Beach for a long 5-day weekend. I'm taking next Tues/Wed off work and getting a much needed vacation.

Hell, I'm the mod of "Bulls Talk" and I haven't logged in for like 2 months. I used to check it daily (even if I didn't post), but gave up when Balta was just talking to himself (like he referenced earlier in this thread), haha.\ Oh, and yes, I'm down for a re-launch.

I like Stratton a lot. I watched him pitch against Tennessee this year, and he looked great. Of course, just about everyone looked great against us, but regardless, I liked him a lot.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ May 10, 2012 -> 10:26 AM) http://www.blackheartgoldpants.com/2012/5/...sconsin-edition Some joke Nike Combat uniforms, the link is to Wisconsin, but they also have Iowa, Indiana, Michigan, Nebraska. Haha, those were cracking me up. Wisconsin's is great, but I liked Indiana the best. Everything is based on the basketball jerseys/warm-ups, including the Bobby Knight logo on the helmet - which is just so fitting for a school like that. Wish they'd do some SEC teams. -
QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 10, 2012 -> 09:32 AM) It was amazing to me how many posters were baited. This... How would anyone believe the OP was serious? C'mon guys...

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ May 1, 2012 -> 06:23 PM) Work really gets in the way of my workout time. Yeah, you find that out quickly... but what really gets in the way is traveling for work. I know there are workouts you can do in the hotel, but to me, it just doesn't feel the same. Regardless, I joined LA Fitness a few days ago in hopes that wherever I travel, I'll hopefully be able to find a fairly close location.

I've been excited about this movie for awhile now, but after this latest trailer... Wow. I can't freaking wait.

I think it's pretty tough for the average fan to evaluate offensive lineman as well b/c we watch the games from the TV angle. We don't get that scouting, end-zone view that real scouts use when watching game film.

QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Apr 28, 2012 -> 10:49 AM) a 6'!" TE??...still dont like the pick. I know Charles has off the field problems but so does Marshall Aaron Hernandez is about the exact same size as Rodriguez. Of course, we can't expect him to be much of an in-line blocker. I think he'll fill an H-Back role like Hernandez does for the Patriots. I think that also means Clutts has some competition. With that said, I'm not a fan of the pick but I can't hate it. I would have really liked Massie, Crick, or Orson Charles. But, this Rodriguez guy does have some serious physical attributes.

I can't tell you how much I love the Alshon Jeffery pick. Having watched him a lot since his freshman year, we got one hell of a WR. He was just dominant his freshman and sophomore years in the best conference in football. He was arguably the best WR in the SEC in 2010, and that included AJ Green and Julio Jones - and we all know how great they looked last year as rookies (especially Green, but Jones too when he was healthy). To me, he was more impressive and more difficult to contain than Green or Jones when I saw all 3 of them play against Tennessee. This guy is going to be very good.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Apr 27, 2012 -> 02:47 PM) You know what other Bears player plays special teams? Julius Peppers. Yeah, but that's only with the field goal block unit. And he's a rare exception b/c he's great at blocking kicks. If the Bears are talking about McClellin being used in all 4 phases of special teams, then they've screwed up. You never want that out of a 1st round guy. It's like they're already hedging their bets if he sucks b/c they can say "Well, look, he's a great special teamer."

QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 10:39 PM) I said that because Emery scouted Urlacher and drafted him to play a position in the NFL he didn't play in college. And I think after some time to read more about McClellin and see people's reaction, a pretty substantial part of it is the "I don't know who the f*** this guy is" factor. I can't speak for everyone, but I know exactly who this guy is. There is a reason I texted my brother before the draft: "I just hope we don't take McClellin." Unfortunately, I knew this was a distinct possibility for about a week now and before the draft, my contact said that if McClellin was there, we'd take him. I was just hoping to God that he was wrong... of course he wasn't. Like I posted earlier, I hope I'm wrong. But I have a lot of doubts that this guy can be an every down DE in the league.
-
I'm still furious... Completely unimpressed with McClellin. Don't get me wrong, I hope I eat some serious crow about this pick but I have a strong feeling I'm not wrong. Glad we got a stud special teamer, though, with our 1st round pick. f***ing idiots. I thought we were going BPA, but apparently Emery was all talk. You can't make me believe McClellin was the best player left on the board. He obviously felt like we needed a pass rusher and took one b/c of the run on DL that occurred before our pick.
-
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 08:53 PM) Ugh a first round somewhat tweener from f***ing Boise? Fail. With a starting OT on the board you dont need that pick there. I hate it. My feelings exactly.

I went to watch Blake Griffin play tonight... and I was highly disappointed. His offensive game looked great, but I wanted more dunks. He had 2 fast break opportunities which ended up resulting in nothing (fouled on one, terrible alley-oop on the other). I really wanted to see a dunk that would bring the house down. Oh, and CP3 is f***ing good. But we all knew that...

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Apr 23, 2012 -> 12:37 PM) There's 4-6 guys I'd rather take on the DL over Jones, Mercilus being one of them. He's raw, sure, but he at least produced. And it's not like Illiniois had a great team either. Right now, I'm really hoping for Coples. Coples/Brockers/Mercilus in that order on the DL, Floyd is he's there depending on what DL is available too. It's nice that they'll have a lot of options. Yep, same here. Jones is just way down my list of 1st round options... I'm a big proponent of going pass rusher in R1, but heck, if all of the DL that I like better than Jones are gone, then I would go WR/LB/OT before I took Jones. I just think there's better value in R2 or R3 at DE than taking a chance on Jones in the 1st. I'd prefer any of these DL over Jones: Coples Upshaw Ingram Cox Mercilus Poe Brockers

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Apr 23, 2012 -> 12:15 PM) Wow, 1st round. I hope he goes mid-first round. That way guys like Upshaw, Perry and McClellin could fall to the Packers. Yeah, Jones has made a huge rise in the last few weeks. I really can't make up my mind on him... but I typically love guys with production. And he only had 10.5 sacks in 3 years. Granted, he was playing on some really bad teams. And he only played 7 games last year due to injury (then again, is that another red flag?). But, something about him just screams "workout warrior." I guess it comes down to he'll either boom or bust, and do you want to take a chance on that?
