Alabama should sell the shattered pieces. I guarantee you they'd make a killing off of their fans wanting a piece of the trophy. -
Love that the Bears are playing in Nashville. I'll definitely be going to the game against the Titans (3.5 hr drive) and I'd like to try to get to Jacksonville too (5 hr drive).

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 10, 2012 -> 07:26 PM) If people thought Luke Fickell was in over his head, if Taver Johnson takes over that team I expect no more than 5 wins. Arkansas is in a really tough situation right now. With a stud QB/RB and LSU/Bama at home, this could have been a huge year for them. Now, who are they going to get this late in the process? -

I didn't think the Arkansas AD was going to do it, but it was the right thing to do. Glad to see Petrino fired. Karma is a b****... Mike Zimmer is lighting a victory cigar somewhere... -

I'm just happy Spring Practice has started. I had the biggest smile on my face on Monday when I saw pictures of the guys at practice. We're 5 months away from the actual start of College Football season and I'm more pumped about that than any of the current sports going on right now. -
Count me in as loving the Bush signing. Only $7M guaranteed and $14M overall? That's a great deal.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 22, 2012 -> 09:25 AM) Wright is 5-10. Enough with the short guys. He's not even fast, either. No no no. Have you watched him play? Wright is an absolute burner. Not sure what happened at the combine, but the 40 is so overrated anyway. The slightest mis-step at the start and he would already have 0.2 seconds knocked off his time... Regardless, once you put the pads on, this kid absolutely flies by everyone else. And it's not like he was playing against slow, poor competition. In a passing league like the Big 12, there is plenty of speed on defense to keep up with those offenses.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Mar 21, 2012 -> 03:30 PM) I thought Cook was from Chicago or the burbs? Maybe I'm not remembering right. Edit: yeah i guess he was from Lincoln. Damir was from Rockford, that looks like the closest guy to Chicago for him. I loved Krupalija back in the day. But my Uncle coached him in high school so I was always a little biased towards Damir. -
QUOTE (lostfan @ Mar 20, 2012 -> 06:43 PM) DeMeco Ryans got traded to the Eagles for an undisclosed pick. Good look for the Eagles who desperately needed a LB, but not sure why the Texans pulled the plug on him. Ryans is a tackling machine. The Texans are absolutely hamstrung by the salary cap. They just don't have any money. They take a $6M cap hit this year but it frees up $9M next year by trading him

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Mar 19, 2012 -> 10:24 AM) Just have to be sure it makes sense depending on your situation. If you've got some loans at a really low interest rate and some high it might not make sense. If you consolidate you're also potentially extending the length of the loan (not a big deal if you just started paying it back, but could be if you've been paying for 6-7 years). All of my loans have the same interest rate. And I've only been paying back for 4 months. Given that knowledge, consolidating would seem to make sense, right? It just seems easier to pay one lender instead of two.
-
Yeah, I can consolidate mine too but haven't yet. I also think it seems like the easy route to go. What's yalls opinion?

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Mar 18, 2012 -> 08:23 PM) That. Was. NUTS. We got up a 4:20 in the morning to reserve a spot at a square downtown and had a couple tents up right along the parade route. We were downtown by 5:30, got set up at 6, and stayed downtown until about 5pm. It was an absolute s***show. Savannah does it right. Dude... Wow. Savannah definitely does it right. I can't believe you got up that early. That's around when I went to bed and then we got up at like 9 and were downtown by 10:30. Having tents was a great idea. We were all saying that we should try to do that the next time we go to Savannah for St Patty's. But yes, it was an absolute s***show. We stayed out until 2 last night and every single bar was still packed. Unfortunately, I knew it was time to go when I fell asleep at the bar and spilled my beer everywhere. Apparently, I was talking to some girl and fell asleep while she was talking. I wish I could have seen that.
-
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Mar 13, 2012 -> 08:18 PM) Apparently they are expecting their biggest festivities ever this year. The parade festivities might be bigger than New York's. Yep, that's the word. Because of it falling on a Saturday, many more people will be able to go. I can't freaking wait. Leaving work in about 5 hours to get down there.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 14, 2012 -> 11:52 AM) LOL, cyberstalking free agents. The Internets have come a long ways This practice was developed in the South during SEC football coaching searches. The damn flight tracker thing has become a running joke among Tennessee fans b/c people would constantly be watching where the University jet was flying - as if they'd really use that form of transportation to meet with potential coaches. AD's are typically much sneakier.
-
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 13, 2012 -> 02:46 PM) Bears looking at Jason Campbell for backup QB. That would work for me. Definitely.
-
Sources in Houston confirm Bears are not in the running for Mario Williams. Oh well... It was probably never realistic anyway.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Mar 13, 2012 -> 02:53 PM) HOLY CRAP! Holy ****!!!! Is he just messing with us?

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Mar 9, 2012 -> 01:35 AM) Anyone have any plans? This year, I'll be attending the festivities in Savannah, GA. Apparently they are known for their St. Patrick's Day parade and celebrations. Bars are open all day, you can drink on the streets, and they have to-go cups. Works for me. Right on. I'll be in Savannah as well. Supposed to be a great time.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 11, 2012 -> 09:08 PM) Tennessee actually has a real shot here, they're a much better team than they were when they started the year and that might push them to really be up to compete in this That's my hope. As a team that will return everyone except one player, they could gain some valuable tournament-like experience. I hope they come ready to compete and not have a typical letdown of a NIT team that barely missed the NCAA Tourney.

Bruce Pearl Seriously, though, this is a big opportunity for Illinois. Gotta get the right guy. There should be plenty to choose from. -
I'm just a Peanut Butter and Bread guy, no jelly. But, I do like PB and honey sometimes.
-
Mario Williams is a freak and I absolutely love him as a player. But, he's been injured each of the last 3 seasons so that's something you'd have to expect from him. He's not going to give you a full 16 games. Still, it's hard not to salivate over a DE duo of Peppers and Williams. Absolutely filthy.

QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 3, 2012 -> 11:06 AM) eh, he's speaking to a bunch of students and boosters. I'll give them a break, they don't have much in LA. This is also true. He obviously would never have said that in an interview or anything of that nature. He was just trying to rile up the fan-base at a recruiting "celebration." Still, Miles has to be smart enough to know that someone was probably filming it. This same thing happened with Lane Kiffin 3 years ago when he was talking at a recruiting celebration and called out Urban Meyer for having to cheat to get recruits, but didn't know he was being filmed and that it would end up all over the TV/internet. -

QUOTE (daa84 @ Feb 2, 2012 -> 09:50 PM) I hate gunner Kiel because after amazingly seriously considering Vandy he spurned us, but les miles looks like a huge douche calling a an 18 year old kid out like he did, even if Kiel retracted his commitment And I guess Miles had no problem with Kiel when he reneged on his commitment to Indiana, but he all of a sudden doesn't have the "chest" when he de-committs from LSU. The word "hypocritical" comes to mind. -
Official 2011-2012 NFL Thread

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Feb 3, 2012 -> 08:48 AM) Goodell said that if the NFL brings a team to the LA market it would most likely be a new team and that they'd want to add another as well to keep an even number of teams. That would make 34 teams. Personally I'd be all for it. Love football and I don't think more teams would dilute the game at all as the talent pool is large enough to sustain it. No mention of where that other team would be. Memphis? San Antonio? Portland? SLC? Toronto? Montreal? As much as I hate to say it (being from Memphis), I don't think Memphis would support a NFL team very well. The people of Memphis have really adopted the Titans as their team and they tend to be fair-weather about going to sporting events. When the team is good (e.g. The Grizzlies last season), the city gets behind them 100%. But when they're bad, nobody cares.
