    Gatlinburg

QUOTE (hogsmom @ Mar 8, 2011 -> 07:28 PM) It's too cold for rafting, but if you like wildlife, Cades Cove is cool. It's a track in the National park that you can get in the fields with deer and see wild turkeys, maybe a bear, and so on. Just be careful of the road, take your time, it can be pretty rutted. Just make sure you have enough gas because there is not a gas station in the park area. My daughter just got back, said it was pretty boring (She's 22), but her and the boyfriend went to the Moonshine factory (?). Ah yes, they do sell legal Moonshine, so if you're into that sort of thing, I'd check it out. May I suggest a flavored moonshine like Apple Pie (my favorite) or something like that. Otherwise, if you get the Original flavor it will taste like straight rubbing alcohol.

I would eat at the Cherokee Grill for sure. It's owned by the same guy who has a few places in Knoxville that I like to eat at, so I'm sure it's really good. They have their own microbrewery, so if you're into trying new beer, there are quite a few brews you could try. And basically, everyone else covered the rest. It is incredibly "tourist-y" so be ready for that.
  3. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 7, 2011 -> 11:18 PM) Nah they'll figure out a way around it. Sure Tressel is a cheater, but so are almost all of the coaches of top programs. He wins games and brings the school money, so he'll go nowhere. This is undoubtedly true... But, if they can't figure out a way out of it and the NCAA slaps him with the charges mentioned in the Yahoo! article, then they'd have no other option. He'd likely get slapped with a multi-year suspension, and if the OSU wants to keep him through that they could, but I doubt they would. We're going through this at Tennessee. If Pearl gets suspended for a year, we may keep him around. But if he is out for 2 years, I think we have to get rid of him.
  4. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 7, 2011 -> 07:42 PM) http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/news...-osuprobe030711 Oops Tressel. Damn, if this is all true... He gone.
  5. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Mar 7, 2011 -> 05:41 PM) I try to be nice about it as I have a great group of kids and I certainly don't want to make any of them feel bad. That being said, everyone gets a good amount of time no matter what, the only real difference in playing time is the top 3 players on my team play most of the 4th quarter where as some of the weaker kids will only play 2 or 3 minutes in said quarter. I understand that all parents would like to see their kids in at the end of games but just as they think it's unfair that they don't play at the end of the 4th, it'd be just as unfair to my better kids if we weren't trying to win games. Keep doing what you're doing. That sounds just fine to me as far as how much playing time each kid is getting. I would have been ecstatic if I played that much in 5th grade. Instead, my jackass coach didn't play me in 8 of our 16 games. Yeah, I wasn't very good, but come on.. It's 5th grade basketball. Winning doesn't matter at all, but if you have a chance to win at the end and all of the kids have gotten decent playing time, then why not put in the best to finish the game.
  6. Mark Titus' (of Club Trillion fame) latest tweet had me cracking up:
  7. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 3, 2011 -> 08:56 AM) At every other university in the country, they call that Wednesday night.
  8. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 3, 2011 -> 09:04 AM) Say what you want about Tommie Harris's play, he always seemed to be a fun, good guy. Opened the paper this morning and saw this full page ad. Definitely a classy move... I hate that injuries pretty much killed his effectiveness b/c Harris was so much fun to watch from '04-'06.
  9. Ran 3 miles today in 25:52. I haven't run for distance since high school (preseason lacrosse stuff), so I started running a month ago in preparation for a 5k on April 3. I feel pretty good having a month until the race, and I can already do 3 miles in under 26 minutes. Next step: running the actual path the 5k will follow. It's feasible, though I'll have to make a few small route changes due to traffic.
  10. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Mar 1, 2011 -> 10:13 AM) 5/10 Good ol' Charlie. I'm going to miss him when he's dead. Same here... but I only knew 1 of those for real. Oddly enough, it was "Your face will melt off and your children will weep over your exploded body." Haha.. The rest were guesses.
  11. QUOTE (SnB @ Feb 22, 2011 -> 05:57 PM) I just discovered listentoyoutube.com Holy crap, has this been around awhile? It was so seamless to rip an mp3. Any concern with viruses or anything like that? Seems almost too easy... You'd never have to buy music again.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 18, 2011 -> 08:36 AM) Yeah, almost anything in a finely ground powder form will flare. Hey, that wasn't you wearing the White Sox hat and red jacket on campus today, was it? Don't see too many Sox hats around here, though I guess it could have been the same guy you saw in the TRECs that day you asked me about it, haha.
  13. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Feb 16, 2011 -> 11:19 AM) The three worst refs in the country are all predominantly Big Ten refs. Hillary, Burr, and Hightower. Valentine is bad too, but he doesn't do a whole lot here. Anyways, it's a wonder why the officiating in the conference is so bad. I'm actually to the point where I almost like seeing Hightower. Teddy Valentine is awful. He did our game tonight. You know it's bad when before the game starts, everybody was making a big deal about the refs.

    2011 Music Thread

QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Feb 15, 2011 -> 03:27 PM) Drive-by Truckers (a band I first heard about from previous versions of this thread) are on Jimmy Fallon tonight (2/15). They played a free concert in downtown Knoxville last summer, so of course my buddies and I went. They were pretty good. I'm not a huge fan or anything, but I've liked their music ever since I DJ'd for the campus radio station here. Just got a song of theirs for free on AmazonMP3 the other day. Not sure if it's still free, but it's called "Everybody Needs Love." Pretty solid.
  15. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 16, 2011 -> 02:49 AM) Seriously, f*** you, Andy Roddick. I said that exact quote to my roommate the other day... He may be the luckiest man in world. Brooklyn Decker is on another whole level for me.
  16. Regarding the rapper discussion: I personally think Nas has to be up there with the best of them. Illmatic is awesome.
  17. I had an Arrogant Bastard Double Bastard on Saturday night. It was on sale at the local liquor store, so I figured I'd give it a shot. It was excellent.
  18. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Feb 13, 2011 -> 09:03 PM) That is next month. Unfortunately, none of my past girlfriends have known about it.
  19. Not in Austin, but I'd love to get a job there after I graduate. It's one of the cities I'm focusing on to start my job search, though I don't have any real connections there. I just think it would be awesome to live in Austin.
  20. If woman get Valentine's Day, we should get "Steak & Blow Job Day."
  21. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 12, 2011 -> 11:45 AM) I guess i don't feel like im so much older than you. You would have liked Blake griffin 1.0 aka Shawn kemp. The first real basketball season I can remember is '96 when the Bulls played the Sonics in the championship. I know I really liked Shawn Kemp back then (had his poster hanging on the wall in my room), but I guess it's hard to remember specifics. I just know I generally liked the guy a lot... I still love watching his highlights on YouTube. Oh, and sorry if my last post seemed a little "snarky." I was hammered when I wrote that last night.
  22. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 11, 2011 -> 07:27 PM) Really? I would have to say I liked Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, young Shaq, Dominique, John Stockton to name a few more than I like Blake Griffin. Uh, yeah... Dude, I'm 22. I wasn't old enough to watch any of those guys, except for an old Stockton and Shaq was awesome, but I hated the Lakers so it was hard to root for him.
  23. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 10, 2011 -> 11:15 PM) I don't think I've ever been a fan of a non Bulls NBA player as much as I am one of Blake right now. I know I've never been a fan of a non-Bulls player as much as Blake Griffin. I love watching him play.
