  1. QUOTE (zenryan @ Feb 6, 2011 -> 10:47 PM) I would guess that 90% of the posters on this thread is unhappy with how the basketball season is going for their team. I would say that it probably correct... We know Rock is happy. Other than that, not sure.
  2. QUOTE (lostfan @ Feb 6, 2011 -> 03:06 PM) The first 2 weeks of the year with all the quitters tying everything up. This for sure... And it's really bad at this time of year to workout on college campuses. It's packed all day b/c so many dumbasses think if they start working out 4 weeks before Spring Break, they're going to look awesome. Can't wait til late March when the crowds die down.

    Coffee Talk

My roommate has a Keurig and I think it's awesome. I use it mainly for tea now, but when I was working full-time last year, I used it a lot for coffee before work.
  4. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 3, 2011 -> 10:15 AM) I prefer scout for football and rivals for bball. They are all pretty biased either way. I think maxpreps has ND at number 1. Ha, I'm just the opposite. Rivals for football and Scout for basketball. Interesting... Oh, and 247sports is on the rise. They have a Tennessee site and it is extremely well-run... The guys who created Rivals and sold it to Yahoo are the ones who created 24/7 so they definitely know how to do it.
  5. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Feb 3, 2011 -> 02:10 PM) As a Wisconsin fan Im extremely leery of recruiting stars and all that jazz. I started following it pretty closely back in the day and realized that stars dont always tell the whole story. Josh Ogelsby is one of the highest rated recruits Wisconsin has gotten, yet he has been a pretty big disappointment. Conversely JJ Watt was a walk on from CMU who earned a scholarship and may go in the first round of the draft this year. Its good fun though, especially when there isnt a game for another 6 months. Well, yes, the whole star system and rankings are simply for the fans so no one should ever put too much stock in it. And yes, all of the recruiting sites have their biases (tend to cater to the schools with the largest followings), but it's still fun to follow... There are plenty of hits and misses. Hell, Tennessee had the #3 class in 2007 and we ended up with 5 guys from that class that actually contributed last year. But, it gives me something to look forward to during a time of the year that is slow for sports.
  6. I was a little disappointed we went 1 for 3 today on recruits still on our board, but I'll take the #12 class according to Rivals (and let's be real, Rivals is by far the best at this).
  7. Can't wait for tomorrow! National Signing Day is one of my favorite sports days of the year. For me, it's bigger than the Super Bowl (unless, of course, the Bears were playing).
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 1, 2011 -> 05:30 PM) One of the coolest videos I've seen in awhile. Unbelievable precision in that jump. I love hearing the roar of the stadium as he gets closer.
  9. It was 67 degrees here in Knoxville today. My buddies and I just sat outside all day and chilled... unfortunately, it's supposed to be in the 20s again by Wednesday so it was fun while it lasted.
  10. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 29, 2011 -> 09:13 PM) Being the top scorer and rebounder in the game and only getting 2 under his reb avg is an embarrassment to you? Wow. I'd imagine he was kidding, Rock.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 28, 2011 -> 01:08 PM) I almost never buy anything through them and they're paying me about $100 a year. I've never bought anything through them, but I'll still get at least a $25 gift card every year to Starbucks or something. For me, it's worth the 2 seconds to click on the links.
  12. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jan 28, 2011 -> 12:47 AM) Yeah, let's be honest here, the seniors haven't seen many bigger wins. I'll give them a break, plus I like seeing Indiana fall so low. Also, Saint Mary's/Gonzaga is one of my favorite match ups every year. Another solid game brewing now. Mark Teahen agrees. He's been tweeting about it all night... though he went to Saint Mary's so that makes sense.
  13. QUOTE (farmteam @ Jan 27, 2011 -> 11:18 PM) On behalf of Hoosier nation, I would like to apologize for the idiots who rushed the court. I was behind the basket, and stayed firmly planted there. Wait, people rushed the court for beating Illinois? I know Indiana is down, but damn, you're Indiana.
  14. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 27, 2011 -> 06:28 PM) Titans & Jeff Fisher to part ways Surprised this came so late. Their season has been over for weeks... Apparently their OL coach is the top internal candidate.
  15. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 27, 2011 -> 02:00 PM) But then you would get no more cocktails. My fraternity brothers always said that drinking whiskey helps cure you. And they'd always end up sicker and worse off. I would not want them taking care of me when I was sick. Exactly. The alcohol kills bacteria... I thought that was common knowledge.
  16. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jan 26, 2011 -> 02:31 PM) Oh trust me, I am aware of the song Beast Mode, since I have almost every B.o.B. song ever recorded. And by the way, it's the "No Genre" mixtape, and it's fantastic. Oh s***, that's what I meant. I'm an idiot... And yes, it's really good. I can't stop listening to it.
  17. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 26, 2011 -> 11:27 PM) Jimmer is just going off. I love Jimmer. Definitely my favorite player in college basketball right now.
  18. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 26, 2011 -> 04:43 PM) Just perusing through the SLAM forum, and it would appear as though Soxtalk is collectively going to Florida. There are separate threads about Orlando, Jacksonville, and Miami/Fort Lauderdale. Just thought it was ironic. I'll be there (Destin or Key West) for spring break.
  19. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 26, 2011 -> 10:45 AM) Did you grab his latest mix, "All Day", that I posted in the music thread a few weeks back? Probably his best one yet. I did. It's really good.
  20. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jan 26, 2011 -> 01:26 AM) QUITE the variety there. You had me at B.o.B., and then lost me at T-Swift.... I truly have an appreciation of all music. I really used to dislike Taylor Swift, though, until my sister convinced me to listen to her new album. I must say that it surprised me. I think she's grown as a singer, and I found 3 songs from the album that I actually liked so I copied them to my iTunes. Anyway, if you haven't heard Beast Mode by B.o.B. yet, it's pretty damn good. Actually, I just picked up the whole No Genre mixed tape. I'm liking it so far.
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 25, 2011 -> 09:30 AM) Rick Reilly with a apology to chicago piece on Rose. I tend to dislike Reilly, but I must admit, that was a pretty good piece. I particularly liked the story about Rose stopping to thank those fans for coming out to the game. Are you kidding me? How often do superstars do that? That's just one more reason why Derrick Rose is special.
  22. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Jan 25, 2011 -> 09:45 AM) http://northcarolina.scout.com/2/1042579.html Not sure what to think of it. I think it's awesome... And playing outside, on an aircraft carrier nonetheless, will be quite interesting.
  23. Beast Mode - B.O.B. The Thrill - Wiz Khalifa Mississippi - Benjy Davis Project Mean - Taylor Swift Heartbreak World - Matt Nathanson My Next 30 Years - Tim McGraw Jump Around - House of Pain If You Leave Me Now - Chicago What It's Like - Everlast One - Johnny Cash
  24. Went to a Girl Talk concert last night. It was insane. My favorite parts were around the 8:10 and 12:50 marks in this video. Seriously, if he ever plays anywhere near any of yall, go see him. For those who don't know, this guy (it's just one dude, but goes by the alias "girl talk") samples all sorts of music (from the Beatles and Steve Winwood to Three 6 Mafia and Biggie), and mashes it together.
