  1. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jan 23, 2011 -> 10:17 PM) Time to start focusing on the NFL draft. This will be a crucial one for the Bears. Need to go heavy on OL and secondary. Definitely need to go OL early in the draft (preferably Round 1), and then my #2 need is DT. CB could use an upgrade, but I think OL/DL (specifically DT) are more important at this point.
  2. Happy Birthday, fellow Knoxvillian
  3. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 18, 2011 -> 04:40 PM) Like
  4. Definitely a fantastic game by the Bulls today. I originally was going to go back to Memphis to see the game, but decided I didn't want to make the drive to Memphis only 10 days after being back in Knoxville.
  5. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jan 16, 2011 -> 05:19 PM) My best friend/roommate is a Packers fan. This could be bad. Same here. The "s***" talking has already commenced.
  6. Why am I up at 6:46am? I'm going to regret this in a few hours when I wake up to watch the Bears game.
  7. QUOTE (daa84 @ Jan 15, 2011 -> 12:03 PM) what a weekend....my Dores on espn with dickie V against UT, Going to the Bulls-heat tonight, party for bears seahawks game tomorrow...plus all the other NFL I can't believe we won. When the game was 30-13, I was about ready to turn it off.
  8. What I drive: '03 Ford Taurus What I want: Chevy Tahoe
  9. I haven't been this excited for baseball in awhile. I'm ready for March.
  10. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 12, 2011 -> 05:36 PM) Damn, now I have to watch the video. Yep, his comment got me too... That is a nice ass, but I couldn't handle the song. Awful.
  11. QUOTE (Disco72 @ Jan 10, 2011 -> 11:08 AM) I have no problem with winter weather, but it would be nice if I could find a "real" snow shovel around here. At least the university is shut down, and I can work from home easily enough. Isn't it awesome down here? Only a few inches of snow shuts everything down. I don't think the University would have shut down, though, if classes had already been in session. They've never fully closed since I've been in school here (we have had some delayed starts though).
  12. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 8, 2011 -> 09:34 AM) scandalous That's some bulls***.
  13. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 8, 2011 -> 07:26 AM) Coaching my first 5/6th grade basketball game in a few hours, next step...Chris Lowery's job. That's a fun age to coach. You can definitely make a big impact on kids of that age both basketball-wise and as a person. I coached a 5th/6th grade basketball team for 2 years in high school. And even though those kids are now Juniors in High School themselves, they're always so pumped when they see me.
  14. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 6, 2011 -> 07:56 PM) Redhawks looking good so far...Gotta actually play some defense. Rock, what are the odds of Guidry sticking around at Miami? His son is our starting FS - Janzen Jackson... Btw, I heard he gave one hell of a pregame speech before the game tonight. Wish I could have seen it. Everybody on the Tennessee message boards is talking about how awesome it was.
  15. Eh, it's not that bad of a decision for Luck. I'm fairly certain he comes from a well-off family and his dad played in the NFL, so 1) I'm sure he's not exactly hurting for money; and 2) if he's coming back, I'm sure his dad thinks it's a good idea as he played in the league himself and knows the pros/cons of coming out early. Furthermore, he'll finish up his degree from STANFORD, a premier institution. Even if he had some career-ending injury, I think he'll turn out fine. Sure, he won't have his $50M but I'm sure he can make a damn good life out of his situation. Also, you can be sure they'll take out a multi-million dollar insurance policy on him, so if he does have a serious injury, he'll still get a few million, which would set up most people pretty damn well.
  16. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 6, 2011 -> 10:16 AM) I don't know. Hugh Jackson wasn't going to get a head coaching gig anywhere else. Was he going to leave for another OC role? I didn't even think that would be possible since you need to get a promotion. This is a pretty foolish move to me. You are correct. In the NFL, to leave for another team, you have to get a promotion. So yes, Jackson would have had to be hired as the HC somewhere, which I doubt would have happened... I agree that it was dumb to get rid of Cable after they improved a lot this year.
  17. Dolphins prepared to pay Harbaugh $8M??? Good lord, that's a lot of money for a guy who hasn't proven s*** at the NFL level. He has done a fantastic job with Stanford, but this seems crazy to me. I knew he'd get paid a lot, but didn't realize it would be that much. http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2011/...arbaugh-8m.html
  18. Ever since watching Hard Knocks, I thought Mark Sanchez seemed like a pretty cool guy, but he just went up another notch in my book. He's an overrated QB, but this is a really good story... http://sports.espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/news/story?id=5991920
  19. Yep, watching Deng miss those FTs was damn frustrating. I didn't realize he's only shooting 69% from the stripe this year. That's awful...
  20. QUOTE (zenryan @ Jan 5, 2011 -> 08:03 PM) Yeah, that has been rumored on Miami boards since he decommitted once Shannon was told to take a hike. Nice get for Tennessee but I'd rather have no Jackson and no Shannon than Shannon and Jackson haha. Oh, I know what you mean. We lost some badass recruits when Fulmer got fired, but I was okay with it... And I knew we were getting Jackson (poorly kept secret), but it's always nice to see on national TV, you know?
  21. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 5, 2011 -> 06:48 PM) I'm not sure it's not time for the Titans to part ways with Fisher. Yes, he is probably a great coach, but sometimes both parties just need a change. I'm sure John Foxx is a great coach, but I think it's best that he and the Panthers go their separate ways.' Sometimes things just get stale. Of course, with the labor issue looming, this may not be the year to break things up because they are stale. Well, yes, that is definitely true. The NFL, seemingly more than any other sport, has the tendency for things to "get stale" b/t players and coaches. But, I still think it would be a bad move to get rid of him. Let me add that I'm a huge Jeff Fisher fan and would love him coaching the Bears if it was ever possible.
  22. Good to see Marcus Jackson commit to UT... Also, Driskel had a badass throw right before half there (wish he wasn't going to FLA). Can't believe the WR dropped it - he must be going to Arkansas.
  23. I'm not saying the earthquake will be this year (like that page seems to suggest), but it will happen. I just hope my parents are out of the area when it does hit. They're moving to Texas after I graduate in May, so not too much longer.
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 5, 2011 -> 05:01 PM) It's amazing how fast the old "Driving in the snow" instincts come back to you. What the heck is up with Knoxville? It never snows much, but apparently y'all have gotten some decent snow a few times while I've been gone for Christmas break. I feel like I'm missing out.
  25. The Titans will either trade or cut Vince Young. I guess Fisher won that battle, which he should have. He's a great coach and they would have been dumb firing him to please VY. Edit: Apparently Bud Adams is still undecided on if he'll keep Fisher or not. I think he'd be dumb to get rid of him. http://espn.go.com/blog/afcsouth/post/_/id...nts-from-titans
