  1. QUOTE (Capn12 @ Dec 5, 2010 -> 12:42 AM) Yeah, we got our asses kicked today, but don't let that undersell what we accomplished. Beating Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee and at Florida was a big thing for us. As week, returning 8 on off, 8 on def, 2 of which are Alshon and Lattimore, the future is still bright. Definitely. One of your players had a post-game quote to that effect. I'd imagine this was definitely one of the best years in SC history, and next year should only get better (though the entire East will be a lot better as well). There's so much young talent in the East right now (heck, even Kentucky returns a ton of their starters). It should be fun to watch next year.
  2. QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Dec 4, 2010 -> 10:34 PM) Can someone explain to me how DR only averages 5 FT a game? The dude plays in the lane the whole game and gets hammered regularly. WTF? Considering he took 28 shots tonight but had ZERO free throw attempts, something isn't right.
  3. I'm studying on a weekend night for only the 2nd time ever. I hate final exams... (of course, I say that but I've really been on SoxTalk/TalkBulls the last half hour)
  4. QUOTE (chw42 @ Dec 4, 2010 -> 10:45 PM) Very good game from Boozer, too. When did Brad Miller get so good at 3 pointers? Absolutely. I've been giving tons of credit to Rose for this game (and deservedly so), but when I looked at the box and realized Boozer only played 30 minutes, his 25 and 9 is stellar. And yeah, when Miller took that last 3, I was like "If this guy hits his 5th 3 of the game to tie it up..."
  5. QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 1, 2010 -> 08:43 PM) Josh Phegley had his spleen removed Nov. 5. http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2010/...en-surgery.html Not sure how I missed this, but damn, he's had some troubles this year. Let's hope this gets the job done in allowing him to get healthy. Must be really frustrating for Phegley. A full, healthy season from him would be wonderful.
  6. QUOTE (zenryan @ Dec 4, 2010 -> 08:53 PM) Georgia and Tennessee have put good teams in the SEC title game. I think the SEC East will bounce back in 2011. Florida might be better. I think UGA has a chance to be really good. South Carolina has a chance to improve. Dont know enough about Tennessee but I would think they could improve but not enough to win the East. No doubt about that. The East will be much better next year. Unfortunately for me, I feel like there's no way Florida isn't better next year. Meyer will make the necessary changes to ensure that (getting rid of the OC, changing QB's cause Brantley doesn't fit the spread-offense, etc). Plus, they have way too much talent. That entire roster is 4 and 5-star players. Georgia will be a threat as long as Murray is running that offense, and since he's only a redshirt freshman, he still should improve a lot (which is scary b/c he was really good this year). SC returns their 2 best players in Jeffery and Lattimore, so yeah, that offense should be hitting on all-cylinders next year. And Tennessee was playing with 8 or 9 freshman on the field at one time for much of the 2nd half of the season. That should only mean good things with the entire offensive line coming back with starting experience and our true frosh QB, who tore it up the last 5 games of the season (including going 4-0 as a starter to finish the year). Plus, 3 of our Top 5 WR's will be back, our starting FB will be back, and so will our starting RB. The defense will be the problem, but we do return a good bit. The entire secondary will be back, and the starting DT's. I think the down years for Tennessee are just about done. This team this year was the least talented team since the mid-80's, and we still managed to make a bowl game and could have finished equal to Florida in the standings if not for the LSU loss, which was about as freaky of a loss as you'll ever see.
  7. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Dec 4, 2010 -> 07:41 PM) Really unless its Florida in the SEC Championship game it's a down year... Then you must have started watching football in the last 2 or 3 years. Because before that, Florida had only been to 2 more SEC Championship games than Tennessee (and Georgia had been to 3 total). While Florida has been to the most, I wouldn't say that's dominant. But yes, in the last 3 years, they have been much better than the rest of the division as a whole.
  8. QUOTE (zenryan @ Dec 4, 2010 -> 07:05 PM) man, the SEC East was horrible this year. No doubt. This was the weakest the East has ever been... I mean, South Carolina winning the East should tell you everything. If there is no Florida, Tennessee, or Georgia in the SEC Championship Game, you know it's a down year.
  9. Illinois is just dirty from downtown right now. 30 points off of 3's.
  10. QUOTE (He_Gawn @ Dec 3, 2010 -> 07:37 PM) Sounds like he just wants some "good" attention. How the hell is he even allowed at the game? Scratch that, how the hell is he still even you're coach? And I don't even mind the guy or Tennessee... So even if it was for some "good attention" as you say, does that mean he shouldn't do it? And leave some good charity without a solid donation (as I'm sure they'll collect tens of thousands of dollars if they really do it). He wouldn't be at the game from what I understand. He'd be watching it on TV with whoever won the auction.
  11. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Dec 4, 2010 -> 01:36 AM) Fresno didn't come within a half yard of picking up that first down. Also, no major college team should ever play a game at Fresno St. That field is a f***ing joke. It makes the turf at Soldier Field look majestic and Ian Thomas almost certainly blew out his knee in large part because of that piece of s*** turf. Wow, that was a horrible spot and an even worse review. What's the point of instant replay if you still get the call wrong after review? And yes, that field is a piece of s***. Any D1 school that plays on a field that bad is a joke. I couldn't believe how bad of shape it was in. Definitely have to feel bad for Ian Thomas. That looked pretty brutal.
  12. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Dec 3, 2010 -> 03:07 PM) BTW, guys both Dunn & AJ adjusted their deals to afford PK... Yep, gotta like that they both were willing to do that.
  13. I love that Dunn just said he'd play wherever they want him (DH or in the field), and that he just wants to win. I mean, I know we had to kind of assume that he would be that way, but great hearing him sound so positive about being able to legitimately win for the first time in his career.
  14. Rumor is that Bruce Pearl may auction himself (and give all the proceeds to charity) to allow people the chance to watch the 1st 8 SEC games with him (since he'll be suspended). I think that would be incredibly interesting to see how he'd act watching his own team. As much as most of you hate the guy, you have to admit this would be a pretty good thing to do, and a way to make some good out of a bad situation.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 3, 2010 -> 02:15 PM) I'm not all that excited yet. No where close to the pre-2006 offseason. I wouldn't say I'm "not all that excited" b/c I am excited. But I agree that this isn't close to what I was feeling in the '06 offseason.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 04:50 PM) Respect is earned by winning. Not given away. Huh? What the hell has Bosh ever won? Rose should have more respect from his playoff performances than Bosh ever had.
  17. Sporting News ranked the Top 50 NBA players right now... http://www.sportingnews.com/nba/feed/2010-...-top-50-players D-Rose checks in at 19, behind the likes of Chris Bosh and Paul Pierce. That's too low for him. Noah at 32, Boozer at 36.
  18. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 01:52 PM) I got really drunk last night and did some things. We now have a new vacuum cleaner from somewhere. I apparently thought it was a good idea to whip my dong out in the bar last night. And other things I don't feel comfortable mentioning. I got really drunk and got in my 1st fight 2 nights ago (and kicked out of the bar I was at). I decked the kid in the face and stomach for talking s***... And considering I've never been in a fight before, I thought that was crazy... But whipping it out in front of a bunch of people at a bar... now that's ridiculous.
  19. QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 12:09 AM) Actually there is a difference.. In your scenario money changed hands. In this case, the only thing establised is there was talk, but no proof of any kind money changed hands. So if AJ Green's dad offered his jersey for $1000 but never sold it, there would not be an issue. Also, keep in mind that these are allegations about Newton's father asking for money from a school other than the one he is playing for. And before you assume, don't forget that Oklahoma has gone on record that there was nothing out of the ordinary with Cam's recruitment. That said this is technically a loophole in the NCAA bylaws/interpretations. Expect it to get closed with a new rule very quickly, which will keep this from becoming a precedent. JMO Lastly, this is simply an ineligibility ruling based on Auburn's investigation presentation to the NCAA. Should more details come out or the NCAA find anything pointing to Auburn while they investigate the allegations with his father and MSU there will certainly be repurcussions. There is still a possibility much more can come of this. All I think today's ruling states is that facts are more important than inuuendo and assumption and to this point, the facts are as they ruled. So it could be far from over. How dare you respond with rational thoughts... Part of the reason I wish Cam would get suspended stems to one of my roommates being a huge, life-long Auburn fan and I am so sick of listening to all his bulls***. It would give me no greater pleasure than to have Cam suspended (and Auburn exposed) to shut him up. He's so damn arrogant and cocky about how Auburn is unstoppable, blah blah blah. I'm like "Dude, you don't even go to school there." Plus, Cam annoys the hell out of me when he plays. Always smiling & acting like he's so f***ing good (I mean, he is an awesome player but I hate when guys act all big and bad - just shut up and play football). And that stuff he pulls when he lays on the ground for a few seconds every time he gets tackled, making it look like he might be hurt or something... but then he pops up off the ground and has that huge smirk on his face. GTFO, Cam. Just get up and go back to the huddle. No need to make a huge scene at the end of every play.
  20. QUOTE (lostfan @ Dec 1, 2010 -> 11:47 PM) Did you know that "Dammit I'm mad" spelled backwards is "dammit I'm mad"? I do now.
  21. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Dec 1, 2010 -> 01:44 PM) I didn't thoroughly read it until about 10 minutes after I posted it. It's a pretty horrendous ruling. I guess it's ok to cheat as long as you are in a national title hunt. Yeah, the NCAA is a joke... but I guess we've always known that. I guess AJ Green's dad could have sold his jersey and he wouldn't have been suspended for 4 games this year.
  22. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Dec 1, 2010 -> 01:00 PM) NCAA clears Cam Newton http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2010/12...cam_newton.html Rex Hudler tells Palehosefan to F himself. Interesting ruling by the NCAA. So it's okay for parents to shop their kids as long as the kid doesn't know about it? That sets a horrible standard.
  23. QUOTE (chimpy2121 @ Nov 30, 2010 -> 05:04 PM) Great article on former Air Force Sergeant and current FSU PF Bernard James: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=5866376 Very cool... and it's crazy that yall have two military guys on the team.
  24. On a lighter note (getting away from this stupid Boise St. argument that will never be solved), almost the entire Big 12 1st-Team Offense is from the state of Oklahoma. 9 of the 15 spots - Kinda ridiculous. http://www.big12sports.com/ViewArticle.dbm...TCLID=205038561

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Nov 30, 2010 -> 12:48 PM) Dear Driver Who Speeds Up When I Try To Pass And Slows When Down When I Back Off, Stop trying to tandem drive with me and pick one damned speed. Sincerely, Cruise Control's Biggest Fan Now this I like.
