  1. I loved the comment on Hard Knocks about McKnight: "He's just mad because he's taking a pay cut."
  2. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Aug 18, 2010 -> 01:05 PM) Alabama fans are obsessive, insane, uninformed, misguided, cultish and experience hallucinations. I second that.
  3. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 18, 2010 -> 11:31 AM) "Who's the Wild man now" -Rudy Absolutely. Gets me every time.
  4. I've never been happier to be back in school after doing a full-time Co-op with GE for the last 8 months. I mean, I really liked my job but I'm going to take full advantage of my last 2 semesters of school, now that I know what it's like to work full time. I didn't quite realize how much free time I had in school until I started working every day. Two 400-level Logistics classes International Supply Chain Management Business Ethics ...and continuing my internship with GE by working part-time (18 hr/wk).
  5. Incredible video. I definitely cried... I remember how excited I was to see my brother-in-law come back from Iraq and I knew he was coming home. I can't imagine the feeling when being surprised like that.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 16, 2010 -> 08:32 AM) Toilet at home stopped working, wife is sick, and fell off bike on way to work today. Not an auspicious start to the week. Were you at the T-Recs today? I saw a "Balta" on the towel sign-out sheet. (yes, i'm stalking you )
  7. QUOTE (girlslikebaseballtoo#26 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 02:29 PM) Congrats to Lucas Harrell on his big league debut tonight!! Just want to throw this out there... the only 2 guys (Harrell and Adam Russell) I interviewed for FutureSox have both made contributions on the big league level, even if none have stuck around. Kinda cool.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 6, 2010 -> 06:13 PM) Meh, its not much in terms of money or time. It works. Pretty much how I feel as well.
  9. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 6, 2010 -> 02:50 PM) Yeah, I don't tell people I post here. And if someone sees me on the site, I say I just read it for news and information on the Sox. Haha, I definitely used to do that. But I don't really care anymore. I've found that most sports fans read message boards. Of course, my friends know about this board and like to make fun of me for being a moderator (always asking me if I'm going to ban someone or delete a post, etc. - just to be smartasses).
  10. I sat in O'Hare for 5 hours today waiting to see if I could get a flight home after my original flight was delayed twice before eventually being canceled. Then the 2nd flight, which I was on stand-by for, was delayed an hour and a half. Thank God I made it on and didn't get stuck in Chicago tonight. Also, Obama apparently flew into O'Hare today, which caused all flights to be delayed since they grounded everything until after he landed. I think that's ridiculous. Couldn't he have flown into Great Lakes Naval Base or some private airport, and not cause a major interruption in air travel? Politics aside - I don't think any President should do something like that. Of course, the only thing I would understand is if O'Hare is the only airport that could handle Air Force 1 (which is what I'm kind of expecting someone to answer me with...)
  11. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 04:16 PM) This little blurb amused me; Good stuff...
  12. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 1, 2010 -> 02:20 AM) If within two weeks you trade for a guy due like $15 million, then claim another guy due $13 million, that will put you up in that top 7 pretty quickly. Yes, I understand how our payroll is so high. Not sure if you caught my point - my entire life as a Sox fan until 2006 has consisted of us being cheap and not being able to afford more than one or two expensive players. So, yeah, it still catches me a bit off-guard when someone refers to the Sox as a financial power.
  13. Wow, never did I think we'd see the Sox listed among baseball's 7 most powerful teams due to our financial resources...
  14. Viciedo was one of the lone bright spots in attending tonight's game. It really is fun watching him hit.
  15. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 28, 2010 -> 09:27 PM) I'd bet Bryce Brown ends up at Kansas State. I think it's really his only option. His brother just transferred there and his dad apparently really wants him close to home. Doubt he'll go anywhere else. Furthermore, he'll probably have to pay his own way next year b/c I doubt Dooley will release him from his scholarship after the shenanigans he pulled.
  16. QUOTE (zenryan @ Jul 28, 2010 -> 12:20 PM) Bryce Brown leaves Tennessee via text message. link What a slimeball move. Be a man and let them know in person. I know when I was his age I would probably want to take the easiest road out too but my dad would have been all over my ass if I tried to pull that s***. Yeah, pretty bad way to leave for his sake... I really couldn't have cared less about him leaving though. At this point, it was getting ridiculous. He was the Brett Favre of the SEC. Will he play or won't he?
  17. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 09:14 AM) No issues with the EVO which runs the android OS. Same here... Haven't had any issues with Soxtalk on my EVO.
  18. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 04:58 PM) Lane Kiffin makes friends wherever he goes f*** Lane Kiffin... sorry, that's the alcohol talking... but he is a smug, piece of s***
  19. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 23, 2010 -> 09:35 AM) Jud Buechler: "Lebron is right to play with superstars" Classic...
  20. QUOTE (DaveBrown85 @ Jul 22, 2010 -> 10:17 PM) Can we do a poll on how much we think a bottle of domestic beer will cost? Haha... more than it should. That's for sure.
  21. This sounds pretty cool. I'll be at a game next weekend for the A's series so I hope I get to check it out.
  22. McGrady is worth a shot. You can't do much better right now. If he gets hurt, you sign a guy out of the NBDL and make do. It's not like there's a lot of minutes to go around right now. Is it really that great if we sign a Roger Mason Jr. type and he plays 10 minutes/game? Will he make enough of a difference to matter? No... Basically, you see if McGrady can work out and if he gives you solid bench minutes, it's great. If not, you split those minutes among Brewer, Korver, JJ, and sign a D-leaguer to fill the bench. I'd prefer to take that chance.
  23. Always nice to add a UT boy to the Bulls' roster (Watson). There aren't many in the Association right now, but that will be changing soon. Definitely a very solid choice as the backup PG.

    State Parks

The Great Smoky Mountains are awesome to hike, camp, etc. if anyone is ever out this way. Though, I guess that's to be expected since it's one of the largest national parks in the US.
