Hey, I need some advice from you guys in the professional world: I got an email today from an HR person with General Electric telling me how impressed they were with me in my interviews and that I would be receiving a job offer soon (for a 6-month internship). They also asked if I had any other job offer deadlines from other companies, so they could try to work within those deadlines. I interviewed with Colgate-Palmolive as well last month, but haven't heard anything yet and I'm supposed to find out around this time. However, I'd prefer the GE job, so is there any benefit or negative to telling them about my possible Colgate offer if I know I'll take the GE one once it's official? I know not to expect anything until I have an offer in writing and accept it, so I'm holding back excitement for now. But, should I tell them I'm still waiting to hear from Colgate, or should I just say I have no standing offers and leave it at that? Thanks for any feedback.

QUOTE (Capn12 @ Oct 31, 2009 -> 10:08 PM) 4 Turnovers leading to 4 short fields and 24 points. We're just not good enough to overcome that. Grats on the win, I hate to think 'what if' concerning maybe if we knew how to hold on to the football. Well thanks. It was a fun game to be at. 14-0 after 4 minutes would be tough for any team to overcome. Obviously the rain was a factor, so I gotta give our guys credit for holding on to the ball in those conditions. The jerseys were interesting. I was stoked to see us wearing black, but thought they could have looked better. Then I found out that the decision wasn't made until Wednesday to wear black, so they had to get them done quickly and used cheap jerseys. And they got black pants too but they didn't come in time, so that's why they wore the orange pants. It was supposed to be a black on black look, which would have been sweet. -

QUOTE (zenryan @ Oct 31, 2009 -> 02:03 PM) So Ole Miss was down 31-14 with 6 minutes left in the 3rd. Mississippi scores a TD and for whatever reason goes for 2. Of course Auburn causes a turnover on the attempt and takes it back for 2 points to make it 33-20. Amazing how stupid some of the coaches are when it comes to going for 2 points. Not sure what you're talking about. The extra point got blocked and was returned by Auburn for 2 points. -

QUOTE (daa84 @ Oct 30, 2009 -> 08:52 AM) you guys didnt really lose anyone, and have Smith Chism Hopson Prince all should be huge contributors.....so in that way, i give your team respect...but on the other hand i'll never respect you guys because your coach is the worlds biggest douche...that and that ugly orange color I believe that goes to Calipari. But yes, I will admit Pearl is a bit of a sleaze. -
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 29, 2009 -> 01:04 PM) Buckeye fan, I'll be at the game. After that: Drunk and blacked out Buckeye fan. Right there with ya. I'll take that any time though over dressing up for Halloween. I was going to be Tony Perkis from Heavyweights, though, if I had plans for Saturday night. As it is, I'm just going to go out and get drunk as s*** when our game ends around 11:30.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 29, 2009 -> 03:18 PM) Chase and Pay Brian Kelly. If they were smart, they would. He's a great coach. He was my 1st choice for the Tennessee job, but I liked Kiffin a lot too. I think it worked out well for us, particularly with the staff Kiffin brought in (Monte has been especially awesome), but Kelly is a fantastic coach. -

I didn't realize we had that much respect this year. I mean, I've always thought we were going to be good, but I didn't think the rest of the country would think so. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 28, 2009 -> 05:50 PM) So when the Vols and Buckeyes play each other in a few years, which head coach is still there, Kiffin or Tressel? Ha, I would like to say Kiffin as I do think he'll be very successful here (will he try the NFL again if he is?), but your guess is as good as mine. What I do know is that both teams will be extremely talented regardless of who's coaching due to the recruiting ability of both of those coaches. -
Found this on the UT career services website. Has some good things about a company visit. Here's some stuff and the rest at the link. http://career.utk.edu/pdf/Job%20Interview%2009-10.pdf

So apparently Lil Wayne has a new song that mentions Lane Kiffin. The lyrics goes "talk s*** like Lane Kiffin..." around the 1:14 mark. Pretty awesome. You know young high school kids will eat that up. -

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 28, 2009 -> 07:31 AM) Just a small bit of love for the Football Salukis maintaining their #3 ranking. FCS doesnt get a lot of play here, gotta give the egyptian dogs a little shout out I follow SIU football a bit, though that's only because a guy I played football with (and went to school with) plays there now - John Goode. I'm not positive if he actually starts at fullback, but I know he gets playing time cause he has a few TDs this year. Sucks that the starting QB is out though. -

QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Oct 27, 2009 -> 10:36 PM) How stupid a comment is this? How bad of a coach is he if this were actually true? You're going to not run another play because the referree "might" throw a flag on your team for something they did not commit? Judging by the officiating in the SEC this year, it wouldn't surprise me in the least to have a "penalty" against UT. The officials have been horrendous this year and not just the crew that got suspended. For being a great conference, the Slive and the SEC need to do something about the refs. They're bad. Well, I love him as does Vol Nation, and that's all that matters, isn't it? I mean, honestly, Kiffin is a good guy and a hardass. He said those things early on to get the fanbase riled up and the Vols some national publicity. He has since stated he did most of that stuff on purpose. The Pahokee comment was made when he didn't know there were cameras in the room (mistake by a young coach; he's obviously learned from it). How many SEC teams (not Florida or Bama for sure) can say they haven't had at least 1 player on their roster get in trouble with the law since last December? Tennessee can. Also, if you haven't noticed, Lane is 1 of 4 SEC coaches so far this year that have been reprimanded for calling out the officials for poorly refereed games. When you start to see a trend like that, I don't think it's just Lane being "a tool." If so, Bobby Johnson at Vandy, Dan Mullen, and Bobby Petrino (okay, i'll give you Petrino... he really is a jackass) are all tools then too for calling out SEC refs for a bad job. -

QUOTE (lostfan @ Oct 27, 2009 -> 10:36 PM) I've seen ripping of Chris Williams in this thread, but Williams' scouting reports said that he was quick and athletic but not overpowering, a good pass blocker, but mediocre run blocker. Meaning he should be a LT, not an RT. Pace is playing LT mostly because of his name but Williams never profiled very well to be a RT. Square peg, round hole. Exactly. That's what I've been thinking all along. You have to understand he's not a RT, but most average Bears fans overreact and say he's a bust. Yeah, his 1st season of playing at a position he's not meant for, and he's a bust? Right... -
Fine, no more videos. I thought I was being creative.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 27, 2009 -> 05:12 PM) I thought Rex was Michigan fan, he's a bama fan? I think you're right, but he also lives in Alabama, and I thought was a Bama follower as well. -
Not to hijack your thread bigruss, but... I had an interview last weekend on campus with General Electric that went great, and I got a call today asking me to come in for a 2nd interview at their distribution center here in Knoxville as well as tour of the facility/meeting the managers, etc. Obviously, I accepted the chance for a 2nd interview. It's for a 6-month Co-op/internship, which would be an awesome experience. Anyway, any pointers/advice for an on-site interview? There has been some good stuff in this thread about actual sit-down interviews (though I already know most of that stuff), so I'm more wondering what can I expect actually visiting a place and getting a tour, etc? Any tips not already mentioned in this thread? Or does anyone here know much about GE's Industrial Systems division? I imagine not, but I thought it was worth a shot. I'm doing research online as well, but anything would help.

That sounds like someone who's scared of UT. We outcoached and outplayed you with inferior talent. Imagine what will happen in 2-3 years. Oh, and your coach is Nick Saban... Wanna talk about tools? -

QUOTE (iamshack @ Oct 27, 2009 -> 01:15 PM) Sorry, Washington. I knew Williams didn't sound right. But when you have linebackers like that, maybe it's best to put them in situations to succeed instead of trying to fit them into situations where their success will be limited. That's what a great coach would do. Put his best player(s) in a position to succeed due to their strengths, rather than making them do something they're not. Not saying that's what Lovie did, as Urlacher won a DPOY in this defense. But, you could make a case Lovie hasn't used Urlacher correctly the last couple years. -
