QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 12, 2009 -> 08:02 AM) What a waste of a draft pick on Deangelo Williams. Guy is killing me. Yeah, I didn't think he'd be as good this year, but still thought he'd be worthy of a 1st round pick. I didn't see the Panthers offense being just this bad. Question for you: would you trade him for, say, 2 guys who have each produced similarly as Williams? Or will you keep him no matter what since he was your 1st pick? I ask b/c the guy who has him in my league has a pretty bad team (he's about to go to 1-4), and has some holes to fill. And I really just need another RB to complete my team, but have some good extra WRs.

QUOTE (danman31 @ Oct 12, 2009 -> 12:26 AM) I don't think you want your QB to play like a real SEC QB. That usually is a pretty bad thing. Ha, this is true. Seriously, though, who needs an elite QB as long as you're winning national championships every other year. -
Never got suckered into one of those CD deals 'cause I had older siblings to tell me it was a scam. I remember thinking it would be such a good deal. Anyway, I can't remember exactly what my 1st CD was, but I think it was Jock Rock Vol. 2 (still have it). I then proceeded to get the next 3 Jock Jams CDs before moving on to real albums (a few years later I would just download illegally like the rest of the world). Thank god for the high-speed internet/music downloading craze of the early 2000s.

Thanks Colts for passing the entire 4th quarter even though you were up big. And then when you do start running, you put in some joker 3rd string back Simpson instead of giving the playing time to Donald Brown. I would have gotten at least 1 more point from Brown which would have given me the lead. I'm literally tied right now with the guy I'm playing. I badly need Frank Gore to be back from injury in Week 7. Btw, great thread idea. I'll be in here frequently b/c for some reason NFL coaches don't take fantasy football into account near enough when calling plays and the such...

This is f***ing bulls***. The guy I'm playing is getting lucky as s***. My team isn't playing great, but I shouldn't lose this week. Right now it looks like I'm going to, though. Thanks to Clinton Portis and Jamal Lewis deciding to have the best games of their s***ty seasons. Maybe more thanks should go out to Buffalo's defense for letting Lewis get 117 yards even though Anderson was 2/17. If you know they can't pass, how do you still allow that many rushing yards to one guy?

Tennessee game was fantastic today. I haven't seen Neyland rocking like that since '07. The defense was fantastic. Georgia's offense scored 3 points. The rest of their points came from a blocked punt safety, a kick return for a TD, and an INT return for a TD. Big props to Crompton today for finally playing like a real SEC QB. Over 300 yards and 4 TDs? Yes! -

QUOTE (rangercal @ Oct 7, 2009 -> 02:06 PM) updated NFL logos Hilarious stuff http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story...mp;sportCat=nfl The Broncos and Raiders ones crack me up. They're all pretty good though. -
QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Oct 7, 2009 -> 08:58 AM) Yeah, the Killian's and Rolling Rock may just break the bank. Seriously, there are some good beer on that list and good luck to you crossing many more of the to do list (tough job!). NSS, the Kelpie is actually a very nice malt-accented and very smooth traditional ale, and you wouldn't know there was seaweed in the mix if they didn't tell you. It's a Scottish Gruit /Ancient Herbed Ale produced by the well-regarded Craigmill Brewery in Scotland, so knowing your affinity for Scottish ales I'd recommend it as one for you to seek out. Wow, well put. Much better than I would have said it... And thanks, I'll keep the list updated as the year goes on.

I have loved Bowe for the last 2 years and think he's highly underrated. But, that KC offense is terrible and the guys who are getting looks aren't Bowe. He's getting doubled a bit, and it seems to be hurting him. Plus, I have to imagine that hammy is still an issue. So... I'd go with Walter this week against a weak Arizona defense. The Colts tore them up in the passing game and I think Houston could reasonably expect to do something similar. He has 41 yards last week, but Houston kept it on the ground mostly cause Oakland is that bad. This week he should have some opportunities. I'll need to see something from Massaquoi in the next couple games to feel comfortable with him even after his monster game last week. I've seen too many one and done's on bad teams to feel good about him yet. And yeah, Royal is not even in the conversation right now like you referred to.

This year I'm trying to conquer the task of drinking about 100 beers I've never had before. Here's how my list is going so far: Xingu Black Beer Rogue Dead Guy Ale New Belgium Fat Tire Sweetwater Blue Newcastle Brown Ale Woodchuck Amber Guinness Draught Killian's Irish Red Rolling Rock Shiner Bock Kelpie Seaweed Ale Harp Lager My favorites have probably been the Xingu, Sweetwater Blue, and Newcastle. Though, I haven't had one I didn't like. I need to step up my game. At this rate I'll only get about half way, but that's fine since I'm a poor college student that shouldn't be buying these expensive beers anyway.

I don't think the Giants are getting much love here. Even if they haven't played the toughest teams, they're pretty damn good. Their o-line is the best in the league, imo. Eli's plantar fasciitis is going to be big question mark for them now, though. As Sox/Bulls fans know, that injury can be pretty bad (though Eli's doesn't sound as serious as it could be). -

Fantastic article... Can't wait till next year! Peavy is gonna dominate. -
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 6, 2009 -> 11:41 AM) Is this the same paper that plagiarized the Onion article where Congress requested a retractable roof chamber, as fact? That happened?? That's hilarious.

Those are awesome. Getz is a little frightening and whoever is dressed up as Mario is hilarious.

QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 6, 2009 -> 05:00 AM) Can you get Chris Johnson for Kevin Smith and Johnny Knox? I'll counter and see... probably not though.
-
Very true... editing my previous remarks.

QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 6, 2009 -> 04:08 AM) I'd say yes, if I was getting Johnson and Marshall. Who's the third guy that he'd have to drop? I imagine it would be Robert Meachem.
-
I get: Chris Johnson Brandon Marshall He gets: Larry Fitzgerald Kevin Smith Johnny Knox I'm tempted b/c who knows how healthy Smith will be able to stay (he's pretty banged up), though he has played well all year and is the only real Lions RB so he's gonna get touches. Fitz is hit or miss with so many good WRs on the Cards, but this year is worse b/c the offense is so out of sync. And Knox is good, but expendable. Frank Gore is my main RB, but he's out a few weeks so I'm trying to add another RB. I have Vincent Jackson and Bernard Berrian at WR, so I feel like they're good enough (along with adding Marshall) to offset losing Fitzgerald. Also, my QBs are Matt Ryan and Brett Favre. But, the guy who has Aaron Rodgers has asked about a Rodgers/Lee Evans for Fitzgerald/Favre trade (he has Peyton so wants to get rid of Rodgers and needs a WR). Would you guys do that, or stick with the Ryan/Favre combo and keep Fitz at WR. I'm tempted to just keep Fitzgerald. If the Packers had a real O-line, I'd probably do it. But Rodgers is getting hit so much and taking such a beating that I'm afraid it's going to wear him down, or worse, get him injured.

This thread started on the day I was moving back to school. It's still going and I'm about halfway through the semester. Never saw that coming. Good work, Tex, on starting one of the longest threads in Soxtalk history.

QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Oct 4, 2009 -> 12:49 PM) Titans just getting hammered right now. Looks like they'll be starting the year 0-4 I can't believe it. I thought they just had some tough losses, but maybe they're just that bad. -

QUOTE (Wedge @ Oct 1, 2009 -> 03:01 PM) I've been to a number of college football 100k+ stadiums. Easily the loudest is Neyland Stadium (UT). Neyland gets very loud. The loudest I've ever heard the stadium was after the UT-South Carolina game 2 years ago when UT won b/c Ryan Succop missed a FG that would have tied it up. I was having to yell to talk to my brother who was standing next to me. It was crazy. -
So last night was awesome. My fraternity got me and all the other seniors a stretch Hummer (it's tradition), and we spent the night riding around to a bunch of different parties that all the sororities had for us (it's our big philanthropy week). Anyway, every stop was spent getting fed shots and beer, and other free stuff (cigars, candy, etc). Well, I ended up apparently going back to this girl's apartment that I'm dating, and put on a blanket like a cape and said to call me "King Mufasa." No idea where that came from. Sounds lame, but I guess I was cracking all these girls up just doing and saying random s***. Though, her roommate referred to me as King Mufasa this morning so I may not live that one down... Also walked into a door I guess, fell into the wall a time or two, and fell over the couch. I had fun.

Ole Miss will be better. They started slow last year, but by the end of the season were one of the most dominating teams in college football.
