Didn't he get an unconditional release from his former team--meaning they are eating his salary, period? Forkit!

As will Frank, PK, Robbie, etc. Lima's gone and a rusty Sweeney's back. Bring 'em on. We're coming home after a great trip. Forkit!

Folks: There are lots of games left. We're gonna have more hot streaks. We're gonna have some awful games. We're gonna have some pitchers really let the team down during a game and we're gonna have a few batters slow to make the transition from long ball to little ball [or back]. That's how things go in any competitive profession. I'm a money manager [basically, a trader] and I can tell you from a very long life in these sorts of circumstances, if you let the highs and lows dominate your outlook, you'll miss the journey. Some of you might jump off the boat [some might get thrown off...]. Others might just decide they can't take the ups and downs and so turn the box off and quit watching. Are the people that posted about how hard it was to find ANY tickets for Monday's home return game tearing up their tickets this morning? If they do, when the Sox actually play the game and win big, they'll have missed the ride. There's about fifty games left. If the Sox really rock, they'll take 30 of those and still LOSE 20 GAMES! It just doesn't make sense to keep making these huge emotional swings on each game. Relax. Let the team play. Frank will hit 2000. Honest. He'll get hot again. The pitchers will pitch lights out again [four of them may be all we see for the rest of the year...who knows?]. And we'll all be posting about how awesome the team is to watch. When they next absolutely kill KC at home, remember to not get too hgih emotionally, because there will still be almost 50 games left. Relax. Enjoy. We're gonna go to the playoffs this year and play well. Can't you feel it in the air? Forkit!

Folks! These guys just went 12 of 14! Give me a break! Roman--Don't you know no one has ever hit 1.000 in a season? No team wins 162 games. They vaulted from 6.5 behind to first place in a couple weeks. What the hell do you all want??? They won game one 12-1. This a very good Seattle team. They were bound to get fired up and come back at us. We lost in a similar fashion. The winning treak was getting ragged and it ended. That's ok. A new one will start. But be solid fans. People went from talking about what lineup we need to use in the playoffs to sending down players because we lost one game to Seattle! Get a grip! The team is a game out of first place and is coming home tomorrow after a GREAT road trip. Relax. Enjoy it. Give them their props, folks. Shame on those of you that turned on them over one game against a solid team! Maybe you should go sip Mai Tais on the North Side and blubber about Santo not being in the Hall... Support these guys! They earned it! Forkit!

Here's hoping Frank relaxes and get's number 2000. If Konerko wasn't tearing up the ball I'd say put Frank at first [which is where I'd have him half the time with PK now]. Hopefully, he'll just take a deep breath and get himself a line shot single, take a nice long bow and then jump into the hitting fun with everyone else. I'm not slamming on Frank...He was the first to get hot, so it's natural he's cooled a bit. But I hope he gets white hot before he gets back to the Cell so he bombs a few and gets standing Os at the sold Cell! Good job, guys. This has been a tremendous run of 14 games! Let's keep our foot on the petal and try to get some daylight between ourselves and the rest of the division. Forkit!

By the way, what is Show's contract status? I think he's a Boras client, so when his contract is up, I guess that will be the end of his run with us. Hopefully, he isn't an outright FA at the end of the year in case we actually end up finding him useful? Anyone know? Forkit!

Hey! I don't know who's pulling the strings upstairs, but they did a fine job identifying what they want\need and then pulling the trigger, getting done well before the fistfighting started near the deadline. Prices definately escalated. I'm guessing Sox mgmt will get another arm or two, if needed, through waivers but saw the crowd standing in line and heard the asking price for Ponson etc and decided to go that route. Look at it this way: We made some trades earlier and that helped the team confidence--which translated into a 11-1 run after the all-star break. Be happy! They're winning games and taking names. I am hearing Boston snagged him...No comfirmation yet. Forkit!

Just ask Jimmy Piersal...Several times in the past couple of years, he's said he'd take Maggs over Sammy. Period. He said it when he was a Cub employee and he said it again this week. I didn't hear all his comments this morning, but he's raving about Maggs again on the radio... Forkit!

This is a repeat of a reply I made on one of the "other" sox boards, Roman. I think you should really reconsider your feelings about Crede. He's gonna be a really good third baseman for a long time. Just let him settle in. Hitting is contagious...he, like everyone else, is strating to hit to form now. The repost from the other board: _________________________________________________ You say "third basemen like him are a dime a dozen..." This guy has hit at everty level. He'll hit in the majors. He tore up the league last fall and when he settles down here, he'll settle in to his solid offense. I have no doubts he will hit. Go look at his AA and AAA stats--he killed the minors. You mentioned several of our current minor league players and their offense in the minors. Crede's numbers in the minors dwarfed theirs. As for third basemen being a dime a dozen, take a better look around both leagues: quality defensive third basemen are very hard to find. For example, looka t his throw to first--this guy throws strikes across the field with no effort. When you see guys like Jose--who has a "good" arm--throw across the field, it reminds you how strong Joe's arm is. Last, one thing I really like about him is this: while scuffling a little trying to find his swing in the majors, his defense hasn't suffered. Remember how Ray Ray's defense went down the tubes when he got cold at the plate? Joe's D is solid. I think he'll be a solid .285 career batter with good power and his defense at third will serve us well for many years to come. Forkit!

Bummer. I did my best to help... Frank, I've watched you play since you were a rookie here. I'd like to have seen you hit one out here at the All Star Game. Now that I hear Giambi is being put in, I won't bother to watch. Let's take some anger out on the Tigers, boys! Forkit!

Actually, I heard the MLB exec on either the score or AM1000 and when asked about the possibility of hacking, his direct answer was that it couldn't be hacked and that even if it could, MLB considers that these are the fans voting and however the vote turns out will be representative. Go spend your time on a Boston board and leave us in peace. We should have won three out of four from Boston, so shame on us. But that's all we're admitting. Forkit!

Juggs: I ran seven boxes from mid-afternoon yesterday until I got in this morning...so that should help. I'll get the latest and have at it again. Forkit!

If you remember, Frank spoke about the possibility of the team playing like this when the Sox were playing the CUB. He said something like he "wasn't going to let himself get too high because he's seen too many of the younger guys get overly emotional during the crosstown classic and then when the Sox return to play the Detroits and Tampa Bays afterwards, they are emotionally flat"--which is just how they are playing right now. They had that huge surge of emotion for the CUB and Twinks and then...flatline. I hope the fine home plate calls in the ninth will juice the boys a bit tonight, but if they don't light the bats up soon, it won't matter. Forkit

Ok, let me change the tone of this topic: Did Konerko get married this off season? Did something radical change in his off-field life? The only two things I can think of that would make such a dramatic change in someone's performance would be either a nagging injury that he is hiding or a major change in his off-field life that has totally messed his head up, ala Frank losing all the close people around him over a two or three year period that, in my opinion, resulted in Frank having such a tough stretch [ok, throw in Frank's injury as well...]. Just curious. Paul's continued poor performance with NO signs of life just leave me scratching my head. Forkit

Just keep reminding yourself: Joe Borchard is a handful of years behind the young guys he is being compared with in terms of baseball experience. He's got to put in his time learning the intricacies of this game, as well as ironing out his swing. He spent the majority of his time in football while all other young baseball stars spent their time doing this in high school, college, etc. He didn't start focusing on baseball full-time until he was drafted. Relax and let him learn. The light will come on... Forkit

I went to give the little ones a bath when it was 5-2. Turned on the radio and heard it was tied. Turned off the radio, knowing the game would be lost...didn't matter how at that point. They had their foot on Minnie's neck and couldn't snuff 'em. This team has had no killer instinct this year. Have they swept anyone? It's just bad, bad, bad...Don't eat before a game this year. I have my own prediction: Frank is heading to a year with BA of over .300, over 100 walks, over 30 HRs...Can he get to 100 RBIs? That would make his 8th season with those stats, something no other player has done more than four times, I believe. I think he's hot now and back in the saddle. I hope he remains the [mostly] everyday first baseman. Forkit

It's already been a trying season for Sox fans but these three guys have really gotten a lot of bad fan verbage and I don't know why. Frank: He was getting on base from the beginning of the season. The RBIs have been slow to come, but that is because those around him haven't been getting on base for him. Obviously his swing is getting sweet now, so perhaps folks will start to be Big Frank fans again...He's the best White Sox hitter in history and one of the best right handed hitters of all time. Joe Crede: He's got a tremendous arm and his defense has been the best on this team. He's young and has nothing but upside. His bat got off to a slow start [except for the first few weeks] but he has had tremendous success at all levels as a hitter--He'll hit here and hit for both power and average. This is really his rookie year. People that remember Robin's rookie year know how awful it was. Joe Crede will be a great third baseman for the White Sox for many years. I hope fans will be a little patient. He's young and will have fits and starts for a year or two. Don't blame rookies for this team's awful play. Joe Borchard: Lately, fans have been pissing on this guy like he was an All-Star that came here and failed! He's really raw. He's gonna take time. he didn't play a full year of organized baseball until the minors with the the Sox--before that, the majority of his time was spent on football, where his physical skills were obvious. This guy will fulfill his potential but hell either have to work his way to baseball skills in the minors or do it on the big club, in front of the fans. Again, those fans old enough to remember Mantle in his rookie year, for example, will know how raw a young player can look before he blossoms. But give this guy some extra time, folks. He's probably got less baseball experience than the college first rounder we drafted this year. I hope people can keep perspective about the young guys learning their skills that may struggle even if the team was "hot--and stay enthusiastic about them, instead of lumping them in with the mid-career or end of career folks that are flat out underperforming. As far as Frank...he has had a very tough past three or so years on a personal basis. He's literally lost the folks around him that he was close to. I think he's had problems finding himself. But I don't think he's done playing great ball. I hope he play his next three or four years here, finishing his career in a Sox uniform before he heads to the Hall. Anyway, that' my two cents.
