  1. I met Joan Cusack at her yard sale. She was very pleasant to me. My girlfriend bought some sofa pillows.
  2. The antenna on my car is gone. I get AM reception ok out in the sticks, but I was driving home from the far burbs. The closer I got to the city, the worse the static got until I couldn't understand anything just when Marte finished walking the bases loaded. I drove the rest of the long way sure the Sox had blown it, plopped myself on my girlfriend's sofa and turned on the TV expecting the worst, just in time to see champaigne spraying all over big Frank's shining dome. Three cheers for the White Sox (and TIVO)
  3. I remember the soul pole. RIP buddy, we'll all catch up with you too soon.
  4. Ozzie is as traditional a strategist as they come. Marte may be pitching like crap, and he may be more effective against righties, but Ozzie will keep him on the roster for those important lefty lefty matchups where you need a lefty to come in and be innefective against a lefty.
  5. Goes a short way in explaining why Timo Perez is on the team.
  6. Ozzie = Ditka. Great leader, horrible strategist.
  7. My dad was just saying (at the game on Saturday) that he saw both Landis and Berry play, and that while Landis was faster, Berry was the best he ever saw.
  8. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 03:30 AM) July 2nd, 2003 Pauly was in one of the worst slumps you're ever gonna see and comes through with a game tying HR against Guardado in the 11th, it was Carl Everett and Roberto Alomar's first game with the Sox and Frank hit a walk off in the 12th off of Guardado. There may only of been 19,555 fans there but it sounded like 40,000. I have that game on tape and pull it out and watch it whenever I need a Sox related thrill. Great to do in the winter. I was at the all-star game at Comisky when Fred Lynn hit the grand slam. Fantastic!
  9. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 07:08 PM) My mind must be going to crap. I thought Frank hit a triple off the top of the wall in his debut? I seem to remember that too....to right field.
  10. heh heh...too bad we're playing better on the road!
  11. QUOTE(Beastly @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 11:02 PM) They never play the New York Episode either...which is a load of horse s***, because that one episode was awesome. Are you talking about the episode where Homer has to pick up his car at the WTC? It was on about two weeks ago.
  12. Baseball Prospectus is giving away their pay content for a few days. Here is a link to an analysis of the available players. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=4265
  13. I'm glad we have Konerko. It's nice to have someone to remind me of Smokey Burgess.
  14. I have never liked Konerko. Until this year he has always been streaky as hell. Now he seems to have settled into a consistent mediocrity. I just hate the fact that guys with big contracts get to play no matter how well they play (Konerko & Uribe). This team would be a little worse defensively and MUCH better offensively with Gload at first and Ozuna at SS (what the hell do these guys have to do to get a shot???!!!)
  15. Crede's hitting over .300 with men on base!
  16. It's not just that he's slow...he has to hang his head and have a mini tantrum before he starts running. Probably cost him a base hit right there.
  17. If you want to know why teams are reluctant to throw in the towel, you need look no further than what happened to the White Sox after they made the "white flag trade". Despite the fact the our team sucked ass and was playing corpse ball, we were "only six games out" or some stupid s*** like that. Even though we had no chance of doing anything, and even though we got some damn good players for some players who would have walked at the end of the season, Sox management was raked over the coals for years and is only now recovering the attendance that was lost in a large part due to the bad publicity from that trade.
  18. The corned beef sandwiches sold from the stand half way down the right field line are worth going to the park for, game or no.
  19. QUOTE(SHAFTR @ Jul 17, 2005 -> 05:42 AM) If Gload can play 1b & OF, why can't he play 3rd base? I'd imagine that he could do fine as a back up 3rd baseman. I think he throws left handed.
  20. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 06:45 PM) You smoother than Ralph? That's unpossible. hahahaa!!!
  21. I love that valentine Southsider. I gave it to my girlfriend for valentines this year (I'm much smoother than Ralph Wiggum though).
  22. Iguchi is on of those guys that you have to watch every day to really appreciate. He does all the little things that help a team win.
  23. Pretty funny. The only position player on the best team in baseball (Konerko) getting any consideration at all is the first one I would get rid of given the chance.
