QUOTE (joeynach @ Aug 10, 2008 -> 03:32 AM) There is no doubt this team is pretty banged up and probably wont be 100% for the rest of the year. Its starting to catch up with this team, bad bullpen, bad starting pitching, weak 3B. So the question is where are the answers. Getting rid of Massett and sending Boone down is a great start, those were both non productive members of the pen. Getting Linebrink back would be a big boost, but we need more if we are really gonna win this division. Uribe's glove is nice at 3B and fields was really becoming a liability there. Hopefully Crede can come back and be productive, but its looks like thats 50/50 with his recent setback. We could really use a solid replacement in the rotation. Do we try and rely on guys like Rusell, Broadway, Poreda, etc or do we try and hit the waiver wire with Maddux, Washburn, or Byrd. I think Maddux would get killed in our ballpark but Washburn might be OK. Are we really anchoring the problems in our pen with Horacio Ramirez, what options do we have. This is huge for KW and the team....the next few moves we make could make us or break us. Either way its going to interseting, but I just dont know if there is enough in our minor leagues or via the waiver wire to solidify this team enough. Seems like we are kind of short answers! the AL would eat Maddux alive

I might as well steal one from Jeff Joniak.. Carlos Quentin you are ridiculous!

Sox Option Russell, Call Up Clayton Richard

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 21, 2008 -> 11:05 AM) Based on what I've learned from various stops in the minors is that those guns tend to be a couple MPH greedy (same with the Fox/ESPN Game of the Week Guns). Yeah I was shocked when Justin Duchscherer was only hitting 86 during the all-star game. -

He's a ground ball pitcher, perfect for this ball park. I don't see him being an ace but I can see him being a solid mid rotation starter. -
Epstien is just the face of the front office, theres many brilliant minds in that front office including Bill James. Billy Beane is the best buisness man but not the smartest baseball mind. I couldn't tell you who is the best GM but the Red Sox definatly have the best organization.

I think it was a matter of getting what he could before Harden got hurt. Gallagher wasn't bad for a 22 year old this year and Murton/Patterson have torn up AAA for years and have never been given a shot. He didn't exactly give Harden away, Harden's value simply isn't that high.

I was shocked Cedeno or Vitters weren't in the deal. A's save 11 mill, thats what it comes down to.

Alexei up for Rookie of the Month for June

Eh, Longoria deserves it more.... -
Why not go all out for it his year, they are losing Sheets and now CC, thats 4 draft picks. They can make a few more trades to bolster their staff and bullpen and rebuild their farm system in a year. I wouldn't be shocked if they got both Fuentes and/or Brian Roberts too, they have many prospects.

I'll never understand why Kenny picked up his his 4.5 mil option.

QUOTE (robinventura23 @ Jul 6, 2008 -> 07:12 PM) I just hope he and Prince Fielder aren't at the same buffet table... Price became a veg, and thats probably contributed to his power outage

Thomas' 94 is unbeatable

I predicted the Brewers would get him but this happened out of nowhere, I thought the tribe would definatly hold on to him until the last minute.

QUOTE (lukeman89 @ Jul 3, 2008 -> 03:38 PM) his 1.83 ERA wasn't good enough for you? He had a GREAT year, but other than that he was your average middle reliever who had a short career. Theres tons of guys who put up one great year out of the pen. 57 saves doesn't exactly make him an all time great, it makes him a reliever that got lucky one year.
-
Thigpen might be the worst player ever to hold a single season record, he was Todd Jones/Jo-Bo esque. K-Rod is better, he deserves it. He's a big example on why you don't judge a player just because of big save numbers.

Wise and Anderson have been solid in this brief sample size, but theres a reason Wise is a 30 year old minor leaguer and Anderson is a forth outfielder. Konerko is one of the better hitting 1st basemen in the league and he'll be just fine if he's 100% when he gets back. His bat will be greatly appreciated when Dye cools off.

Chris Getz, 2B, Triple-A Charlotte (White Sox) A fourth-round pick out of Michigan in 2004, Getz does not have a whole lot going for him in terms of tools or athleticism, but the one thing that he can do is hit, and that’s continued this year at Triple-A, as Getz had back-to-back three-hit games over the weekend and is now 12-for-23 in his last five games (.313/.363/.446 overall). He began the year exclusively at second base, but since then he has also seen time at shortstop (where his range is below average) and in the outfield. Developing that kind of flexibility could indicate that the White Sox are trying to figure out a way to get him onto the big league roster.

Why don't people do what I do and not read his articles? He wants people to hate him and people read his collumns to anger them. If people stopped reading he wouldn't have a job. Who cares what he says.

The Cubs are just better, I know thats hard for a lot of Sox fans to admit but they are.

QUOTE (BobDylan @ Jun 21, 2008 -> 03:27 PM) Brian Anderson is probably the best defensive center fielder in the game today, is one. Dewayne Wise was born in 1978 and has a career 353 at bats, is two. In the past three years, Dewayne Wise's batting average against RHP is .205 (lower than Anderson), is three. Dewayne Wise's career OBP is .241, is four. If you averaged his career numbers out to predict what he might do in a full year, it'd look like this: 298 AB, 41 R, 8 HR, 29 RBI, 14 BB, 48 SO, 11 SB, .201 BA, .241 OBP, .363 SLG, .604 OPS... is five. Do I have to keep going? Best fielder? I mean he's good but come on. Ichiro Hunter Cameron Jones Tavares Sizemore Granderson Ellsbury Crisp Upton Rowand are all better or equal to Anderson. He's just another failed 1st round pick for the Sox and not worth a roster spot
-
I can confidently say I'd rather have both of them over Juan Uribe.
-
In a week or two Swish will be up to his career average and people can stop complaining. Hopefully the can hit the bad lefties they are about to face.......but they never hit bad lefties.
-
Owens doesn't deserve to be called up because he is awful, I'm not saying Dewayne Wise is any good but Jerry Owens can't hit the ball out of the infield. Wise probably won't see much time, we'll see a lot of BA/Alexie in center and Uribe(ugh)/Alexie at 2nd. I also wouldn't be surprised to see Thome get a start at 1B in an NL game.....
-
I've personally given up trying to get Quentin in the game, theres no chance of him winning a write in. He'll be there but he's not starting unless theres an injury.
