In Reinsdick's 25 years or so of ownership - how many division titles, how many ALCS appearances, how many World Series appearances, and how many rings? 3 worthless division titles, 2 ACLS appearances, NO WS appearances, and no wins. What a great owner!! LOL!! Thank you. You may now go back to defending a lying sack of s*** owner who talks a big game, but doesn't give a s*** about fielding a good or GREAT team - he only cares about profits.

In other words, we will go on the cheap, and rely on Joe Crediocre at 3B, now that we figured out the glitch in his swing that we couldn't figure out for 2 years. We're geniuses now. So, expect Cruddy to hit .257 next year, since his swing has been analyzed and perfected under the guidance of Kenny Williams and the resident geniuses we call the White Sox brass. In other words, we're going cheap yet again, and we can't afford anyone worth a s***, so we'll overrate our players AGAIN, and expect them to magically transform themselves into All Stars, even though they haven't even sniffed minimal success in the big leagues. Why improve? The 2nd place money is just a bonus - right into Reinsdrip's pocket. Why spend money and improve the team? We're poor, and we can't draw s*** to the park. God forbid we try to go for it all. We'll never win until you sell or drop dead, Reinsdrip. Here's hoping for either, you miser. :fyou

Rotation: Freddy Garcia Mark Burherle Jose Contreas Jon Garland Felix Diaz (Since he would own Grilli in spring training!) If we go into the season with that rotation, we'll be lucky to finish in 3rd place. What a joke. That rotation sucks - and is no better than that of the Reds. But dream away. Wow.

Here's a winning lineup that doesn't cost much, and still wins with the "smallball" mentality. Once again, it doesn't cost much (which is PERFECT for Cheapass Reinsdorf) .... so money can be spent on the pitching staff. CF - Dave Roberts, SS - Omar Visquel, RF - Aaron Rowand, DH - Frank Thomas/Carl Everett, LF - Carlos Lee, 1B - Paul Konerko, C - Jason Varitek, 2B - Juan Uribe, 3B - Joe Crediocre Roberts, Visquel, and Varitek won't cost more than 10 million combined, maybe 12 million. They're cheap, and productive. The rest of the money should be spent on a proven starter and some relievers that can actually get people out.

Just say no to drugs. And just say no to Barry Larkin. You do that, and you'll be okay until you burn another fattie.

He's 10-11 against the Yankees his last 23 starts. In order for us to win the World Series - which is the goal here, right? - we need to have guys who can beat them. Against the Yanks, he'll just get beat again with a White Sox uniform. I want Lieber and Pavano added to the starting staff. Garland can be traded or go to the bullpen. Or else Contreras can go to the bullpen with Garland being the #5. I want no part of Pedro and his fading dominance. His arm is literally about to fall off. We won't score 8 runs a game like he had this year. With us, he'll be a 15-12 pitcher. Hell, even Garland's sorry ass can do that - OR CAN HE? Pedro's gonna want a lot of money - that money can be better spent elsewhere. And why is Omar Visquel not already signed to be our SS??
-
There is no guarantee that Josh Fields will ever make the major leagues or amount to what he's projected to be. Before we start penciling him into the lineup 2-3 years from now, let's be real and not declare him the next Robin Ventura just yet. He has a lot of potential, but a lot of our guys have had lots of potential, and how many of them have amounted to s***? Not many. As for our current 3B - .238-19-66, with an OBP of .298 and a SLG of .412. LOL!! STUD. We could have gotten that production from Jose Hernandez or Russell Branyan. Pffft.
-
Wow. Clueless Joe had a great night in a meaningless game. How special. I'm so glad that our average-fielding, below-average OBP, streaky, moody, hack and little baby 3B had his one shining moment in a worthless game. When the games counted, he was choking at the plate, throwing balls away, and being a jerkoff as a teammate. I'm glad that the bad reputation has alluded him, and he's become a hero now that the season is over and just a miserable failure - a failure he was a great part of. I say because of his great game today, we just give him a complete pass and ignore all his shortcomings - he's a hero!! He's a real building block for the White Sox future. NOT. Sometimes stats lie and don't tell the real story about a player. Joe Crediocre is the poster child for wasted potential and "opportunistic stat-padding." He sucks, and if he's our everyday 3B next year, then we are f***ed nine ways to Sunday.

GO MANHANDS!!!

Have a nice time - we'll truly miss you. I only hope we can somehow find a way to carry on in this place without you. Who the hell are you??

Let's just hit him in the #9 slot. Yeah, he's not a pitcher, but his below-.200 average and occasional lucky hit would allow us to pretend that we're in the National League. That would make Ozzie feel more at home. I can remember Felix Jose, Kevin Maas, Ken Phelps, Brooks Kieschnick, Sam Horn, Calvin Pickering, and Hensley Muellens hitting some moon shot homers as well - and how did their careers turn out, by the way? If you think that one simple at-bat by Borchard, (in which he timed the pitch perfectly and laid back and properly used his hands, head, and torso to drive the ball) constitutes a "future career trend," then I have some real wonderful oceanfront property in Nebraska to sell you - CHEAP. Pamela Anderson - Joe Borchard - someone who ate way too much food - a balloon about to be popped with a pin - they all illustrate one word - BUST. Have a nice day. :headshake
-
What are you complaining about? We have some real gems in our minor leagues as well. We have a lot to look forward to with Joe Borchard, Jamie Burke, Arnie Munoz, Felix Diaz, Josh Stewart, Kelly Dransfeldt, and Jason Grilli to build around. :headshake :puke

If you could add one White Sox person to the Cubs

What a great topic this is. -
Things could be BAD for the D'Backs
Pastime replied to JDsDirtySox's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
People in Phoenix will be hanging on and clinging to that World Series Title of 2001 much like people in Chicago hang on and cling to that Super Bowl Championship of the Bears in 1986. When you know that your franchise and favorite team will suck for years to come, you have no choice. The D-backs won't sniff the playoffs for probably another decade. -
Their defense is one of the best I've ever seen. If Jamal Lewis can overcome his legal troubles, and rush the ball like he has in the past, they will be dominant. Their passing game sucks ass, but it doesn't matter. They could score just 10 points a game and still win 11-12 games, since I can't see any team scoring much against that defense.

Kyle Farnsworth is truly the poster child for and epitome of "million dollar arm and ten cent brain." The guy is a headcase. If he kicks anything, he should kick himself in the ass for being a worthless piece of crap. I think he threw his last pitch as a "Cub" Friday. Too bad, so sad. Loser.

Is there an award for "Stupidest Thread in the History of the Internet"? This wins the trophy, hands down. Thank goodness I just skimmed it - that's two minutes of my life I'll never get back. :sleep

Drew is in his contract year, is he not? Trust me, once he gets a long-term deal, he'll start ending up on the DL with anything from a hangnail to a itch in his left nostril. I'll base my opinion of him more on his previous seasons than his "contract drive" this season. In June, some of his Braves teammates weren't all that enamored with him sitting out for a week with a little pain in his ankle while a few of them were getting cortisone shots for "little aches and pains" that they tried to play through. If you need the link to that, I'll search for it. He's fragile, and if I want to pay a high salary to someone who sits out a lot with aches and pains, then let's just sign Nomar Garciaparra. Say No To Drugs. Say No To Drew. Say Yes To Filthy Sex.

Here's my idea of a "grinder":

In case you missed this, I'll repost it. It's what Don Cooper had to say about Loaiza after the trade was made: Esteban was throwing about 60-70 breaking pitches a game, including his cutter, and I think that Esteban has a worn-out and tired arm, since he was throwing so many breaking pitches. Plus, you have to remember that he had pitched way more innings than he ever had before. That's probably the main reason his velocity and command was much worse this time around than it was last year. I really feel that Loaiza has probably pitched his best last year. " He's done as a MLB starter, IMO. He'll probably become a valuable asset to some team who needs a long reliever/spot starter, but I think we witnessed the best year he'll ever have. His career statistics speak for themselves. Either way, I raise my glass to him for having his best season as a Sox player.

I agree. That's what I was trying to convey. BTW, I'm surprised you didn't mock me for knowing who Greg Gross and Manny Mota were. Yes, I've been around a little while longer than some of you. Just imagine how Yasny feels - he was alive during the last Sox World Series. (Just kidding, Yas. You know I luv ya).
-
Gload is a solid backup 1B, and a really good pinch-hitter. But he's not a starter. Think of Dave Hansen, Manny Mota, Greg Gross, Lenny Harris, or even Ramon Martinez of the Cubs. They were good when they got an occasional start or pinch-hit, but when they had to play for any length of time in the absence of the regular starter, they were painfully exposed as what they really are - valuable back-ups who serve their purpose - AS BACK-UPS. Plus, Gload is a complete butcher in the outfield. Defensively, he makes Kevin Reimer or Jose Canseco look like Kirby Puckett or Jim Edmonds.
-
If I'm Shapiro, I jump on that deal faster than a pimply-faced geek jumps on a drunken horny supermodel. Cleveland is just a starting pitcher or two away from being one of the AL's best teams. With that offense, the Injuns could overcome a lot of Garland's bad innings - he could have a 4.70 ERA and still win 15-17 games. Plus, the league seems to have caught up with Gerut, and he hasn't made the adjustments. And this is coming from a guy who sometimes rips Garland a new oraphus.

Is re-signing Jose really that bad of an Idea?
Pastime replied to JDsDirtySox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I listen to the Sox flagship loyally about 6 hours a day (I have a radio in my office at work - yeah!), and from what I keep hearing in discussions, Valdez (the kid we got in exchange for Billy Krotch) will be on the team next year. I doubt very seriously that he will be a starter, but it sounds like the Sox are looking to spend very little money on anything except another starting pitcher, a couple of relievers, and 1, possibly 2 more position players. In other words, expect the bench to be full of guys who make the minimum salary. (Gload, Valdez, Burke, Dransfeldt, etc). From what I keep hearing being bantied about, Kenny Williams will have 20-25 million to work with, so he has to spend it wisely. I also expect Kenny to make some trades as well. By the way, whenever I hear a "hot rumor," or find out some breaking information, I'll get it to you guys as fast as I can. I have a computer at work, at home, and at graduate school.
