Houston wins Sunday if Cease starts
He will implode during the first 3 innings like always and they don't recover, 8-4 HOU
If it's Ropech, Sox have a chance if the defense plays out of their minds and the pen is properly used (unlikely)
2008 team had a better shot than this team does, Houston was by far the worst matchup they could've gotten
if they don't make some drastic changes (primarily coaching/training staff, followed by massive upgrades defensively, and then the glaring holes in RF and 2B and MGR), they might not even win the division next year
I think they are the favorites obviously but this organization is always a colossal fuckup when it comes to building sustained success, like they do not have a fucking CLUE what they are doing, but the nepotism isn't going to go away until Reinsdorf croaks or sells so the future is not bright imo. the people running this team aren't as smart as they think they are.
they should've traded Vaughn last year with some other pieces for a haul imo, that kid is doomed with this franchise, they don't have what it takes to groom him into what he's capable of
it's the bargain bin coaching staff, not up to snuff. they don't get these guys ready to play, it's pretty obvious
also, really bad defensive team, like bottom of the league (also a coaching issue)
Abreu is fine at 1B, Eloy is a full-time DH on any properly run team, TA is serviceable at SS, Moncada above average with a questionable arm, CF is locked down, RF = hole, C = DH playing out of position
but like everyone else said, too many DHs on this team gets you 25th ranked defense
billionaires surround themselves with highly paid sycophants who sniff their farts all day and tell them how smart they are. Billionaires are possibly some of the dumbest human beings alive, but everyone they surround themself with tells them otherwise
I don't get the laugh emoji. McCann not being good this year doesn't mean he wouldn't have been good with the Sox. He was clearly very comfortable here and made some nice adjustments. He was also familiar with the pitching in the central. Not trying to overhype the guy and the Sox weren't going to pay a backup 10m/year (though that really isn't that much in hindsight, with Grandal going down)
money being spent wasn't the problem, look at the payroll and look where all the money is wrapped up at, guys who you can't rely on other than Hendriks (fuck Moncada btw, awful extension)
I'm enjoying my favorite team losing? I find your cynicism hilarious to be quite honest. The only thing I'm happy about is the possibility of someone losing their job in a week
