What is the point of having Detweiler on the team if not to finish out games exactly like this one? What the hell are you doing Rentaria? -

Would you trade for Mookie Betts, and what would you trade
TomPickle replied to bmags's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Are you suggesting that the White Sox not trading for Mookie Betts is responsible for the COVID-19 pandemic?!? -
As long as they let Madrigal on the opening day roster this is fine. Leury is probably as good as Mazara anyway.

Road Sox @ Home Sox | 7.16.20 Intrasquad GameThread

In two years Grandal will be 34 and Anderson might still be a below average defensive SS with a sub 5% BB rate. Vaughn at 1B is also far from a sure thing to be putting up 3+ WAR seasons. Polanco averaged 6.5 HRs a year over a 16 year career so this seems like a stretch especially since he topped 15 HRs exactly once in his career. I also called that a great outcome and not some floor for performance. -

Madrigal likely won't have the position versatility of either of these guys, but if he ended up being Placido Polanco or peak Marco Scutaro that would be a great outcome. That's not a sexy outcome, but he wasn't a sexy pick either. If he ends up being the fifth best position player on the team in two or three years then the Sox are in good shape. -

I wish he would have trusted McCann when he called to double up the change up after Grandal swung and missed on one for strike two. -
This rules so hard. Even if this season gets cancelled I'm glad I at least got to watch these instrasquad games.
-
I have watched this at least 30 times already The DVS tweet is not quite as punchy, but the Rodon glove flip is excellent
-
Well at least MLB has had a bitter labor dispute that has alienated the fans before their season gets cancelled due to the pandemic.

What would you have rather seen from this draft?
TomPickle replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
If they turn it down you lose the full slot value and can't sign anyone to overslot deals. I don't like the Crochet pick at all, but I like the idea of going after two top guys. I think they chickened out taking Crochet since he should at least be a reliever if he doesn't blow out his arm. -
Okay, guys with a shot not guys with a pulse. Doesn't help that I hate the Crochet pick.
-
Give me Abel and 4 guys with a pulse over what the White Sox are doing.
-
You know what's worse than a 5 round draft? A 2 round draft.
-
Not in round two, but I would love either Jack Blomgren or Jordan Nwogu later on today. Both midwest kids with a little more room to grow than your typical college player. Blomgren is probably more of a utility player upside. Nwogu is a great athlete at 6'3" 235 lbs, but probably limited to LF due to his arm strength. He's already physically ready to play in the majors and has a good batting eye, but he probably needs to rework his swing a little bit to handle velocity.

White Sox 2020 Draft Day discussion thread

Unequivocally hate this pick, even if it's underslot and they go over in round 2. Though I'm always wrong about pitchers so maybe it's a good thing. -
He lead the Cape in OPS and finished tied for 5th in HRs, if he didn't do that he wouldn't be considered a top 10 pick.
-
Just like Alek Thomas!

Colas is almost exactly 3 years older than Bailey and has played at significantly higher levels of baseball than Bailey has. He is almost certaintly a better hitter, but that's not a fair question. Bailey might already have a better approach at the plate, but that's tough to say from one year playing in the DSL.

If you aren't sure who to trust, perhaps consider the World Health Organization

Didn't know Garrett Mitchell was a fellow type 1. I'll be rooting for him.

White Sox vs Athletics: Reylo against Bassitt
TomPickle replied to chitownsportsfan's topic in 2020 Season in Review
When both Gios start the year on the IL and Kopech isn't allowed to make the team out of spring training Bassitt would look pretty nice.
