  1. This seems incredibly unlikely to be out of context. It is four consecutive sentences.
  2. So Goins = Tilson and "A Pitcher" = Eloy? Not saying it won't be a pitcher, but that doesn't really track if you're trying to fit specific pieces. Also, there are a couple pitchers they could release/put on the IL if they wanted a pitcher.
  3. I would think this is Engel, but then why wouldn't they have just called him up instead of Goins? It's probably still Engel.
  4. I'M NOT FREAKING OUT YOU'RE FREAKING OUT
  5. Eric and Kiley seem to be perfectly content on being the low man on Robert. They still don't have him in their top 20 prospects and only Wander Franco is in the top 50 among prospects.
  6. I think a snake draft is good no matter how it is determined. I wouldn't hate just a 30 team lottery.
  7. Look at his game logs. He throws gems and turds and nothing in between (pretty much anyway).
  8. In terms of fangraphs WAR he'd have to be worth -10 runs as a fielder in LF to equal out to being a DH in terms of value. He is currently at -5.7 runs so basically on pace for -10 if he were to play the full season. The hope would be that he would get less awful in the outfield with additional experience, but even then I don't think he projects to ever be even an average LF at this point.
  9. Pretty sad that the best thing for Engel's future as the 4th outfielder on this team was to go to AAA and let Tilson and Cordell flail around and prove themselves to not be MLB players in any aspect.
  10. The median net worth in the United States is ~97k. Unless you know something about the user base of SoxTalk that I don't there is just no way that is true. But this quickly torpedoing into a bad/worthless discussion so that's all I'm going to say.
  11. I understand the worry some users ITT have about re-signing Robert when his team control is up and I think that is likely the case as well. However, do you all not have the same concerns over signing Moncada, Giolito, Kopech, Cease, Eloy, and possibly Anderson as well? If you play the service time game with Robert and call him up in May of 2020 the only guy you will for sure have for all of Robert's control is Eloy. Everyone else's clock will run out and need to be re-signed/extended. Parkman put it more succinctly, the window is already open and now slowly closing. At this point in the rebuild you should be trying to get the remaining pieces to the majors at a pace that pushes them, but doesn't overwhelm them. Robert is pretty clearly ready to play in the majors right now. I'm fine with giving him through August at AAA if you want, but he should see the big leagues this year. Madrigal and Vaughn should both be up in 2020.
  12. That ball was ripped too, probably another 100+ MPH EV
  13. BP does the same thing for their midseason list, so he's not ranked there either. They did say on the accompanying podcast that he'd be "in the teens" ahead of Kopech at 23.
  14. Would anyone with ESPN+ like to post any White Sox in Law's updated rankings?
  15. Spending more money than everyone on free agents is the thing in baseball you have the most control over. Signing guys you want isn't really an "If" if you know you're willing to spend whatever it takes. Kopech is going to be a year and a half out from his surgery, he will at least be healthy but effective is certainly to be determined. Rodon's health is not something I would ever count on again, if you get anything from him before he hits free agency that's just a bonus in my eyes.
  16. On the mlb pipeline podcast they said Vaughn would slot in somewhere around 30. https://www.mlb.com/news/rangers-sam-huff-joins-the-pipeline-podcast?t=mlb-pipeline-coverage It's at about 38 minutes in where they touch on Vaughn.
  17. I don't see anyone other than Cease graduate that's currently a prospect before next year's lists. The year after you'd lose Robert, Madrigal, Kopech, and probably Vaughn as well. By that time we could see some guys jump up into the top 100 on a few of the lists, but it's okay for your system to be in the bottom half of baseball if you are loaded with good young players all over your roster.
  18. To no one's surprise Bailey made the DSL All-Star team
  19. He was one of the few guys in the Futures Game to top 30 ft/sec, so to start his career at least he's probably at 70 grade speed. That hasn't translated to great stolen base numbers in the minors though so I don't know if that will change as he gets to higher levels.
  20. Yeah, this line is totally insane. I truly don't think it's possible to hit 50 doubles and only 5 HRs in the current environment, especially when you play your home games at Guaranteed Rate. I do think it's reasonable to project a 170 pound guy to develop more power as he ages and plays with the bouncy ball that is used in the majors. 30 doubles, 5 triples, 10 homers would be towards the higher end of my expectations.
  21. Also, while I am #TeamMadrigal Vaughn is the guy I wanted in the draft this year. I believe in his bat, but when that is your only path to the big leagues I need to see more than 30 PAs to have him jump a guy with three 60+ grade tools.
