I'm honestly not sure about that. Even if that is the case they would still have to demote him to AAA rather than send him on a rehab assignment and it would extremely obvious what they are doing. It would win the White Sox an extra year of Kopech and probably piss off every pitcher in the system.
-
They also face lefties the next two games. Fun!
-
That would be pretty shady. They'd have to remove him from the 60 day IL and then demote him to AAA instead of him going there as part of a rehab assignment.

I echo the sentiments of @Chicago White Sox in that I don't want Jay and Alonso on the team together. HOWEVER, I think it might be even more petty to let them play one game together and then DFA Alonso. WHY IS YOUR DH HITTING 8TH? I'd say this is Mark Kotsay territory, but that would be giving Alonso too much credit.
-
No one has made a game thread and I'm sure not going to do it, so I'm just going to complain about it here. I'm glad Alonso isn't locked into the 4th spot in the rotation no matter what anymore, but at what point do you just get rid of a guy? It's a colossal failure to have your DH hitting 8th.

The main issue I have with the 2017 draft is that they took Burger and Sheets back-to-back. Looking through the rest of the draft it's not like it's loaded with top prospects, but I guess I am a little disappointed they missed on Daulton Varsho, who is the son of an MLB player pretty close to home. They could have seen him play 5 games at UIC alone. That's extremely hindsight is 20/20 though lol, I had no idea he even existed at the time of the draft.

Yeah, once Jo Adell went 10 who else were the Sox even in on? Nick Pratto: .170/.269/.238 at A+ J.B. Bukauskas: 5.97 ERA, 69 K, 39 BB in 57.1 IP at AA Evan White: .298/.361/.480 at AA Alex Faedo: 3.41 ERA, 86 K, 12 BB in 71.1 IP at AA Jeren Kendall: .202/.310/.442 at A+ It's easy to go back and criticize the bad body likely first basemen, but it's not like any of these other guys are killing it in the minors other than maybe Faedo.

Since May 29th the following AL players have a higher wRC+ than Eloy: Mike Trout

On the mlb pipeline podcast they said Vaughn would slot in somewhere around 30. https://www.mlb.com/news/rangers-sam-huff-joins-the-pipeline-podcast?t=mlb-pipeline-coverage It's at about 38 minutes in where they touch on Vaughn.

I think the best hope would be that the asking price for Stroman and Bumgarner are too high for the Yankees liking so they settle for Colome+ for Frazier. I'd put that at about 2% likelihood.

Possible long-term SP trade targets for 2019 TDL?
TomPickle replied to Jack Parkman's topic in Pale Hose Talk
That is the exact type of guy I'd like to see the Sox go after if he could be had for a Rutherford/Walker/Gonzalez level piece. Other names I'd be interested in are Kyle Freeland, Aaron Sanchez, Dylan Bundy, and Michael Wacha. I think if you're going after someone this deadline the best bet is to try to come up with a struggling pitcher that has a chance to be a competent starter. I'd go after a big fish in free agency this off-season, which would give you two quality options with whoever that is and Giolito and then you'd fill out a rotation with Kopech, Cease, Lopez, Rodon (when he returns) and maybe one of these reclamation projects. Unless you're willing to trade Robert or Madrigal I don't see how you get anything more than back of the rotation fodder right now. -
Fangraphs board update (with 2019 draft guys)
TomPickle replied to Dominikk85's topic in FutureSox Board
Robert was bumped to 27, but I don't think his tools were updated. Unless they think Madrigal has better game power than Robert. -
Despaigne called up; Delmonico released; Fry to IL
TomPickle replied to ChiSox59's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Let it be known that I take grave offense to someone named Odrisamer Despaigne being right handed. That is a lefty name if I have ever seen one in my life. -
I don't know exactly how tough of a sign Jerrion Ealy will be, but from the football recruiting side of things I mostly heard that he wanted to spend one season playing football in college. I think if you signed him and agreed to let him do that he'd be on board. Obviously there is a lot of risk in doing that, but if he's got high enough upside compared to the rest of the players available in the third round I would be just fine with a gamble like that.
-
And now Kauffmann goes! He seems like a reasonably good fit for Coors.
-
No Tommy Henry for Tommy Pickle. Guess I just have to hope for Jordan Brewer to satiate my homer craving.
-
The Pirates draft seems pretty weird unless Priester is getting way over slot.
-
Cubs pick hit a 3 run homer about 2 minutes after he was drafted. That's pretty cool.
-
Tonight ends with pick #78, correct?
-
Hey, I wouldn't hate Tommy Henry in the third round. Though after watching him yesterday I'm not sure he's got upside beyond a #4 starter. I don't really even think he'd make a particularly good reliever either. EDIT: I'm sorry Tommy, I love you.

I don't know, but that is the natural progression if someone athletic can't stick at SS. There was a lot of chatter on here a couple years ago about people wanting Anderson to move to CF (or catcher). A player with 0 MLB plate appearances. I love Luis Robert, but let's not pretend like he's a sure thing or a reason why you couldn't possibly need another player capable of manning CF. I prefer Vaughn to Abrams, but that doesn't mean he's instantly a bust at #3 if he doesn't end up playing SS. From all accounts he also sounds very likely to end up at SS so this is all a bit silly.
-
True, as proven by the White Sox over the past 3 years it is very easy to find a center fielder.

When will Luis Robert be promoted again?
TomPickle replied to KnightsOnMintSt's topic in FutureSox Board
There's no guarantee that the current arbitration structure is going to be around much longer. There is almost certainly going to be a strike when the current CBA is up and that has to be one of the focal points for the players in the next round of negotiations. Beyond that the clock is already ticking on Moncada, Anderson, Giolito, Kopech, Eloy, etc. I get not wanting to have every one of those guys hitting free agency at the same time, but it's more important for them to all be good at the same time in my opinion. I'm not calling for him to be promoted to the majors right now, but I wouldn't be mad about it either. I think giving him June in AA and July and August in AAA and then calling him up in September makes the most sense. He'd have the same control making his debut in September or starting with the team to begin the year in 2020. Getting him 100 ABs at the big league level would give him the opportunity to work on whatever issues he has in his first ABs. I think Eloy could have benefitted from that last year. -
Colome remains with White Sox, who always had ample interest in him
TomPickle replied to Sockin's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Trade Colome and sign Kimbrel
