Well yeah, all that is true. I guess I should have said he'll be another mediocre starter that will have the White Sox's number. Or his arm might fall off.

Royals signed Jeff Francis to a 1 year $2 million contract. He seems like the type of guy that's going to dominate the Sox for no reason.

Broadcast lead singer Trish Keenan passed away this morning after a two week battle with pneumonia. Just terrible news.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 9, 2011 -> 02:57 PM) GMAB, Tex. I've been getting gang-raped because I didn't give this offseason a sparkling, shiny A plus. I'm sure you've seen this. Then you create this thread? Riiight, because this is all some big conspiracy against you...

What do you think of my nerdy sim league baseball team?
TomPickle replied to TomPickle's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Lock-step in terms that our league will move at the same pace as the actual MLB. Perhaps I'm using the term improperly. -

We're going to be updating to the newest OOTP each year so it will keep things at least closer to the actual goings-on in MLB. I've never played Out of the Park and it's not a requirement to get it so I doubt I will be. The league is going to pretty much be in lock step with what happens in MLB in terms of timeline (other than maybe rushing through spring training a little this season because we got off to a late start) with the first year player draft taking place after the end of the year so we're not drafting guys that don't end up signing. -

We'll be using the newest version when it comes out. -
I cannot wait for Elder Scrolls V. Hopefully I'll be able to build a new computer by November.

This is baseball related, but not really so I figured I'd be best off posting it here and if no one replies/cares then no big deal. Another forum I post on had the idea to put together a sim league using Out of the Park Baseball with 30 teams controlled by actual people. It started with a 20 round fantasy draft of everyone in the MLB with 130 ABs or 50 IP (players who were free agents as of October 2nd were not draft eligible) and a subsequent minor league draft for any player that did not meet the requirements for the MLB player draft. The minor league draft is currently ongoing, but it's 12th round so most every notable prospect has been taken. After the major league draft was complete free agency began but it will be ongoing until sometime in March when 40 man rosters have to be set. The salary cap is $140 million which everyone realized was way too damn high and it's going to be reduced somewhat significantly if we make it to a second year of the league. Both the major and minor league drafts were snake format and I had the 22nd pick in the first round of the major league draft and the 4th pick in the minor league draft. I can post my exact draft order later if anyone cares, but for right now I'm just going to post my nearly complete. C: Ryan Hanigan 1B: Luke Scott 2B: Maicer Izturis SS: Alexei Ramirez 3B: Kevin Kouzmanoff LF: Josh Willingham CF: Ryan Sweeney RF: Mike Stanton DH: Adam Dunn (FA signing 4 years/$71 M) Bench: Michael Saunders (I'll move him to AAA if I can sign a decent 4th OF), Jeff Mathis (Undrafted FA 1 year/1.1 M) SP: Adam Wainwright SP: John Danks SP: Ricky Nolasco SP: Jake Westbrook (FA signing 2 years/$22 M) SP: Tim Stauffer LR: Brad Bergesen RP: Manny Acosta RP: Alberto Arias RP: Robinson Tejada RP: J.P. Howell RP: Matt Thornton I'm one of two or three teams in on Rafael Soriano as well. Minors (overall pick number): 4. Dustin Ackley, 2B (Mariners) 56. Manny Machado, SS (Orioles) 65. Alex White, SP (Indians) 116. Brent Morel, 3B (White Sox) 125. Alex Colome, SP (Rays) 176. Asher Wojciechowski, SP (Blue Jays) 185. Louis Coleman, RP (Royals) 236. Kyle Parker, OF (Rockies) 245. Alex Cobb, SP (Rays) 296. Max Stassi, C (A's) 305. Rex Brothers, RP/SP (Rockies) So any critiques, pointers, or just overall thoughts would be appreciated. If there are any sleeper or under-the-radar type prospects that you like I'd love to get some insight on that as well.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 20, 2010 -> 06:30 PM) I will say the Brewers have no margin for error from the top 6 in their lineup. Because right now you're looking at a 7-8-9 of Gomez, Betancourt and the pitcher. That will definitely be the "go take a s***" inning when those three come up. Hey, Gallardo is a pretty good hitter.
-
Reported deal of Greinke and Betancourt to the Brewers for Escobar, Cain, and Jeffress. Seems like sort of a b.s. made up deal to me though.
-
Is Henry Rodriguez the guy that pitched in the Future's Game a couple years back and threw 98-100?
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 09:49 PM) That is a good thing. I believe his career ERA against the Sox is 1.45, but what does that make his ERA against everyone else? 3.71 or thereabouts.

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 09:23 PM) Not a fan of this move. Don't know the dollars involved, but you can bet they paid a premium for an *at best* 1 inning setup guy. Almost all relievers (non-closers anyway) are 1 inning set-up guys, what more do you want?

Multiple Sources: Sox actively shopping Quentin
TomPickle replied to SoxFan1's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I wouldn't worry about what type of numbers Domonic Brown is going to put up because there's no way the Sox could get him for Quentin. Or just about anything else the White Sox are willing to trade short of possibly John Danks. -
This is a great deal for the Reds, Bruce is most likely going to out produce both Werth and Crawford over the next 6 years.
-
I don't know if the Jeff Francouer deal was mentioned in here earlier or not, but the Royals have also gone out and signed Melky Cabrera. The only surprising this is that Dayton Moore didn't sign Matt Diaz.
-
The last thing the Dodgers need to do is get worse defensively in the OF.

Crawford to Boston, $142 Million, 7 Years
TomPickle replied to Leonard Washington's topic in The Diamond Club
Dunn got more valuable by taking his glove away from him, Crawford's defense should be valued less by playing LF in Fenway. -
Maybe this is why the Brewers traded Lawrie.....
TomPickle replied to ChiliIrishHammock24's topic in The Diamond Club
Why do they still have Ryan Braun then? -
Ozzie's real lineup optimizer.
-
If the Cubs miss out on Chili Davis I heard they're going to go after Ellis Burks.
-
Kenny is going to be on the MLB Network in a few minutes.
-
Well that wasn't all that insightful, but it was entertaining.

The official Winter Meetings trade idea thread
TomPickle replied to macsandz's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I don't know if Ozzie would ever allow this, but Willingham could actually hit #2. Although you'd be stuck with AJ/Beckham/Alexei hitting 6th.
