  1. Okay so sign Robbie Grossman instead of Eaton and you'd be at $1 million more than the Sox current payroll. This is the exact type of deal that I was going to be mad about when Hendriks signed for big money. A great fit on this team for reasonable money and the Sox weren't in on him at all because they blew their wad on a closer.
  2. Would Engel in RF be worse than Collins at DH?
  3. Ozuna and Colome went for about as much combined as Hendriks, Eaton, and Rodon. Very cool.
  4. *White Sox multiple championships window opens* 2020: Global pandemic, weird shortened season and bounced out in the first round of the playoffs 2021: Front office builds 80% of a roster, miss playoffs 2022: Strike 2023: ??? 2024: Profit. AMC and Game Stop finally hit $1000 a share and I buy a 51% ownership stake in the White Sox. 30 consecutive World Series championships.
  5. Hopefully the Panamanian Prince of Walks is #1 this time next year.
  6. Is spending $3 million on Carlos Rodon somehow proof that they aren't "tapped out" financially?
  7. If the White Sox have to pay Rodon more than if they non-tendered him it would be hilarious.
  8. At least the Twins won't get Trevor Story?
  9. Rosario and Luplow is a terrific platoon. Now they just need two more outfielders.
  10. Man I hope so. Joc overplayed his hand and the White Sox went home with Adam Eaton immediately as if he wasn't also going to be around on January 29th.
  11. Robbie Grossman signs for less than Eaton and now Joc signs for the exact same amount? Extremely cool and doesn't make me furious at all that the White Sox rushed out to sign an extremely mediocre player at the beginning of the off-season.
  12. Full list here 14. Andrew Vaughn 39. Michael Kopech 40. Nick Madrigal 56. Garrett Crochet
  13. The Giants are an interesting team. I don't think they are particularly good at this point, but they have a bunch of useful enough players and they do a good job of maximizing their talents.
  14. Every time someone laughing reacts to a serious post of mine.
  15. FWIW, though at this point Cruz may just take a deal he feels is about fair instead of waiting for this to play out further.
  16. Kirilloff is more of a Rosario replacement, no?
  17. It also makes a team on the fringes of competing for a playoff spot more content to just go out with their current roster and not have to worry about improving to make the playoffs. I guess theoretically it also encourages teams that aren't completely awful to try to become mediocre, but I'm not sure it would actually do that given how teams tend to operate.
  18. You guys are absolutely right, Martinez slipped my mind because he was terrible last year. Ozuna does seem like a more likely option for the Blue Jays since they are spending this year. CJ Cron seems more like a fit for the Rays if they're going to go out and grab a DH. He'd be a cheaper option and a platoon fit with Tsustugo.
  19. I don't think it makes sense for teams that aren't going to compete to sign a DH so you can count out the Rangers, Mariners, Royals, Tigers, and Orioles. Of the competing teams the A's, Rays, and Indians are too cheap. The Yankees, Angels, and Astros already have a crowded DH spot. So yeah, really just the White Sox, Twins, Red Sox and Blue Jays are the options at this point.
  20. More than cut in half, honestly. There are AL teams that already have a DH and only a couple NL teams would have an in house option.
  21. Might want to check your math there.
