  1. QUOTE (shysocks @ Sep 4, 2014 -> 09:48 AM) A lot of teams play matchups with their DH now. It might be the better way to build a roster if you're lacking David Ortiz or Victor Martinez to just plant in the lineup and mash. Why are you so convinced Gillaspie is a .250 hitter? Why are you so convinced hes not? Just look at his body of work over his time in the majors. Im not going to look at a month of hitting .394 and say the guys awesome. He hit .245 last year and has hit .242 since the all star break. He had two months where he hit .394 and .333, those are outliers.
  2. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 4, 2014 -> 09:41 AM) As a starting DH against RHP, he's just fine. His defense doesn't hurt you and he's solid offensively. If he can even be average offensively at 3B, he's probably a 2.0 WAR player, which is valuable enough. I do agree he shouldn't be starting full time, but if he gets all of the starts against righties, I wouldn't be upset. Yes, but my thinking was id hope we wouldn't have to play match ups with our DH
  3. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Sep 3, 2014 -> 11:28 AM) Got excited to play Madden 25 again last night. Spent 20 minutes updating the rosters to this year and getting my franchise set up. Played approximately 1.5 quarters of a game before broke ass Madden came back and I turned it off. Near the start of the game I had an awesome, wide open screen play with Forte. One defender within 25 yards, Forte behind 2 lineman......neither lineman blocked the defender, 4 yard loss. This happened twice. On defense, I had several opportunities to sack the QB, but the player - my human controlled player - inexplicably bumped into the QB but refused to tackle him with his arms, despite my frantic button pushing. QB got away. On several other plays, the computer RB would break 8 tackles in a 5 yard area by the line of scrimmage. When i'm the RB, one guy with a finger can bring me down. I quickly turned that s*** off. Madden f***ing blows. Every game I have gotten in the last 10 years has blown. I don't know why every 2 years I get excited about it when I know i'm ultimately going to get upset and quit playing. Thats because Madden 25 wasnt that great. Madden 15 is awesome though, you should try that.
  4. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 4, 2014 -> 09:20 AM) He's perfectly fine against RHP. He's virtually useless against LHP. Hes perfectly fine as bench player and a guy to start against RHP. Not as a DH for a team that's trying to contend. Hes a .250 hitter with no power. Its cringe worthy to think about him as the DH next season. I would absolutely rather have Dunn.
  5. Gillaspie has been hot garbage since the all star break, yet is continually praised as some great player around here. Slow clap for his surge to begin the year, now everyone take a step back and realize hes not that good and what we've got from him recently is more what he is than the .330 hitter to start the year.

QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 3, 2014 -> 09:58 AM) Ghostbusters has been re released in theatres. Never saw it on big screen. Just as a kid on VHS. Nothing else out looks good. Saw it Monday night at the movies. Pretty nice.
  7. QUOTE (scs787 @ Sep 2, 2014 -> 08:51 PM) A few friends wanted to put together a league for fun (loser has to post some sort of pic to facebook)....Waited far to long on RBs so I just drafted a s*** ton of em. QB- Cutler WR- Bryant WR- Cobb RB- Vereen RB- Tate TE- Graham Flex- Allen Flex- Bell D- Denver K- Novak WR- Tate, Hunter RB- MJD, P. Thomas, F. Jackson, West No backup TE/QB cuz you guys told me not to lol. Nice team, PPR I assume?
  8. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Sep 2, 2014 -> 02:46 PM) I am so annoyed. My 2nd league (I have 1 serious league and then 1 league with coworkers) had the draft moved up to yesterday and I never pay attention to emails (especially over holiday weekend) so I woke up this morning to Cam as my starting QB, who I would have never taken had I been in charge. And this is from a guy who likes Cam a lot but I just have a lot of concerns about his fantasy abilities given his bum ankle and the fact that they have zero wideouts. I do have Olsen which is nice cause he should get a ton of targets. Going to be looking to trade for a new QB (preferably Stafford). Team is still solid and the money is usually made on being sly in terms of pick-ups, who you play / sit, etc. I've learned that the more I've focused on the week to week moves, etc, the better my squads have gotten over the years. I'm probably just as lousy of a drafter as before so it might be better when a computer picks for me as it takes my biases out of the situation. Got me some Julio Jones in my 1st league, which I am excited about as I think he's going to have a breakout year. Julio / Dez as my top wideouts is nice but Bush is my top back (betting on a big year out of the Lions offense). I'm tempted to grab and tash Eben as I think he might have a big potential for TD's. I don't think Cam has any less weapons than hes had in the past, bottom line is hes been a top 5 fantasy QB every year hes been in the league. I wouldn't feel too bad about him.
  9. QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 1, 2014 -> 04:40 PM) So, Rusev and Lana are a real life couple. Son of a. Punk is pussed that pictures from his wedding, that he posed for, are on the net. Get over yourself. It's not like it's a nude or something. I use to really enjoy CM Punk, but man that guy is the definition of a douche bag.
  10. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 31, 2014 -> 11:29 PM) They might have the best defensive line in all of football, so it probably wasn't the best landing spot for him. Which only helps support what I said earlier. My conspiracy theory is Goodell asked Fisher to draft him as a favor so the NFL would look good
  11. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 31, 2014 -> 05:49 PM) I've never spent money on DLC or in-game purchases until I started playing Madden Ultimate Team this year. I had $10 lying around in my PSN wallet that I didn't know about, so I spent that on 7 packs. Then I had a $20 credit from Amex and bought a $20 PSN card from Amazon. So technically I haven't spent much of anything, but that's still $30 I just gave to EA. Ive spent about $50 on ultimate team so far. My wife is going to kill me if she notices the charges on our account.
  12. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 31, 2014 -> 10:32 PM) The Rams will not sign free agent DE Michael Sam to their practice squad. Sam cleared waivers Sunday. St. Louis will announce its ten-man practice squad on Monday, and Sam won't be on it. The 249th overall pick in May's draft played well enough in preseason games to earn a look elsewhere, but to this point Sam has generated no known interest since being waived by the Rams. Source: Mike Silver on Twitter This to me pretty much says the Rams used one of their 3 7th round picks as a favor to draft Sam with no real intentions of keeping him on their roster in any form.
  13. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Aug 28, 2014 -> 03:13 PM) What does "domestic abuse offenses" entail? If I had to guess I would say they are just using domestic violence because of the ray rice thing but this would have to be all kind of assault right? 6 game suspension for shoving your wife at home, what if I punch some woman I just met at a club? Nothing?
  14. The alert I got from ESPN says 2nd offense is a lifetime ban, and what I read on ESPN right now says that after 1 year they can apply for reinstatement with no assurance a petition will be granted. How many people are banned for life by the start of next season? Ill put the over under at 4.
  15. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Aug 28, 2014 -> 01:34 PM) New NFL policy on domestic abuse offenses: 1st one: 6 games 2nd one: Possible lifetime ban Goodell admitted he "Didn't get it right" with Rice. Oh boy, players are going to be dropping like flies
  16. QUOTE (Sonik22 @ Aug 28, 2014 -> 01:03 PM) Buddy offered me Tavon Austin and Fred Jackson for Lamar Miller, thoughts? Tavon Austin, from what ive seen, is a guy that's not even getting drafted. Not sure how much value you have there with Shaun Hill at QB in St. Louis now. Fred Jackson and Lamar Miller are pretty much even to me, difference being Fred Jackson will have to fight off CJ Spiller and Bryce Brown while Lamar Miller only has to deal with Knowshon Moreno. Outside of last season, Moreno hasnt been that great of a back so I would prolly stick with Miller.
  17. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 27, 2014 -> 01:38 PM) So it's got the Carl stamp of approval? Are you on PS4? I give it a stamp of approval. Ive only played one game against the CPU on All Pro and 2 Ultimate Team games online, but I haven't run into anything that made me flip my lid yet. The graphics are beautiful, and I feel the gameplay is much improved over last year. So far though, its been great. I think I beat the 49ers like 24-21, only threw one pick and it was my fault. Last year I would throw 4-5 INTs a game against the CPU on All-Pro. As far as a criticism, I have only seen one penalty so far and it was a facemask. But no super defenders intercepting anything withing a 10 foot radius of them. I am on PS4, ID is Slackin224
  18. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 27, 2014 -> 01:03 PM) IGN is the worst. "After the letdown of Madden 25 last year, Madden 15 feels like a mostly fresh start for the series. The increased emphasis on defensive play, a great new play-calling system, and the return of long-time favorites makes this year's Madden one of the best in recent memory, even if it could still use work in regards to its stale commentary and longstanding bugs. As a lifelong Madden and football fan, I'm impressed. This year's game is both exciting and reassuring that EA Sports isn't wasting opportunities to improve the series." Their rating for Madden 15? 8.7 Their rating for Madden 25? 8.5 Yet last year was a letdown (true), but this year is supposedly amazing? The same person didnt review both games for what its worth. Personally, I think Madden 15 blows away last years game, its absolutely beautiful and the gameplay feels real good. I dont have the computer making 360 back flip interceptions on me all game like last year.
  19. I was still able to pick up Carlos Hyde in one league and Jeremy Hill in another for dropping Gordon, pretty nice switches there
  20. Its a damn shame such a great fantasy asset is wasted like that, oh well
  21. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Aug 27, 2014 -> 07:58 AM) If anything, it would be RBBC if/when SJax goes down. Good team but I'd definitely see if any other true handcuffs/backups are available and drop Quiz. (West, Polk, Davis, Starks etc...) Yes, the idea of a handcuff is to have a guy who will assume the full workload of the guy who got hurt, not someone that's going to be in a committee.
  22. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 26, 2014 -> 04:45 PM) I just like how much we're talking about Freddy Jackson I think its ridiculous we wasted so much time arguing the merits of 2012 Fred Jackson, its time to get back to fantasy talk for THIS year
  23. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Aug 26, 2014 -> 04:11 PM) When he played, he was useful. Fantasy football is a weekly game, after all. So he was absolutely useful. And no, you aren't finding 1,000+ yard, 6 td guys on the waiver wire frequently. In the end, Jackson ended up being very useful last year, and some people thought he'd be useful based on usage in 2012. It wasn't sheer luck some people drafted or rostered him. He was the perfect 3/4 RB before drafting pure lottery tickets. I agree he was absolutely useful last year.. and no, it wasn't luck that people drafted and rostered him, it was luck that Spiller crapped his pants and gave Jackson that opportunity to do what he did. He was a waiver wire add in a lot of my leagues though, and while not frequently those guys ARE there depending on how much you work the wire.
  24. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 26, 2014 -> 04:03 PM) Tell that to the coaches of the team, then, because they don't seem to be on board with Davonta this year. In fact: "With Steven Jackson (hamstring) still sidelined, Rodgers started and handled the vast majority of first-team work. Antone Smith mixed in sparingly and Devonta Freeman got just one series to himself. It's clear that Quizz, now in his fourth year with the Falcons, has the faith of the coaching staff even though they are aware of his talent limitations. He'd lead a committee approach if Jackson misses any time early in the season." Welp, guess you'll see when Steven Jackson eventually goes down. I can get blurbs from ESPN too "Steven Jackson is the starter. He turns 31 next month and probably has one good season left in him -- but if he is slowed by nagging injuries, the Falcons will turn to someone else. They drafted Devonta Freeman in the fourth round with thoughts of grooming him as the three-down back of the future. If he looks as good in pads as he did in shorts, Jackson might have a battle on his hands. Even the battle for the third running back will be interesting with Jacquizz Rodgers and Antone Smith in the mix. (ESPN)"
