  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 29, 2014 -> 05:53 PM) Washington R*dskins ask people on Twitter to "tell us what the team's name means to you". Yup. Has anyone ever heard the term Redskins used as a racial slur? Ive never once heard that used to describe an indian by anyone.
  2. Man I am getting tired of WWE's s***. Cena is the kind of guy who can lose and it doesn't change anything in the big picture. Having Wyatt lose, however, could end him. You have Cena lose this match and no one stops buying wristbands and fruity pebbles.
  3. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 29, 2014 -> 10:52 AM) An A for Flowers but a C for Eaton? Seems about right to me, unless im missing something about Eaton? Hes putting up C numbers.
  4. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 29, 2014 -> 10:18 AM) FWIW, hindsight is everything. I mention it a lot, but here's the thread Sox sign Felipe Paulino I cant believe how many people said they liked him and he has been good. Hes never been good. Whats ludicrous is using the term "Good" while describing Paulinos career. The term has no business there.
  5. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ May 29, 2014 -> 10:15 AM) I don't think that's true. I think they signed Paulino to be the former, and then failed to put together enough depth to avoid him being in the rotation. That's where the criticism belongs, IMO. Maybe, but can that be confirmed? You think they liked Paulino over Reinzo as 5th starter? That would have to be true if the intention was for Paulino to be in Charlotte but it didnt work out that way.
  6. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 28, 2014 -> 08:14 AM) It was a gamble. Suggesting it was anything else is ludicrous. Maybe they should have signed Ubaldo. You're both right and wrong. Signing anyone is technically a "gamble". Signing Paulino wasn't a "Were going to sign this guy, send him to Charlotte, and maybe hit lighting in a bottle." gamble. He was a "This guy is a part of our major league rotation." gamble. Yuck.
  7. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 27, 2014 -> 12:37 PM) I have softball pants I wear when it is cool, but I wear sliding compression pants and high softball socks to avoid strawberries. Still get them, though Yeah ive been swearing up and down I would never slide regardless of the situation. Even got thrown out at third once because I didn't want to slide and get that strawberry. This time though I just did it without thinking, and then immediately regretted it. Im definitely going to look into the compression pants. This was also the first week I decided not to wear my knee high socks.
  8. Welp, another two games Sunday and another 4 total at bats. We lost the first game 10-0, got called after the 5th. Lost the second game 14-4 also called after the 5th. I was a very disappointing 1-4 with a flyout at the fence and then 2 ground outs. On a side note, do any of you guys wear pants? I for some reason made the dumb decision to slide into third on our concrete like dirt and have that nasty road rash looking wound on my leg now. Its going to be too hot here soon to wear pants, I was thinking of some under armour compression legging things. That should at least minimize the damage from sliding.
  9. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 22, 2014 -> 09:49 AM) Shut up and hit a homer Still no homer yet
  10. Those look cool. our custom jerseys are coming in next week I cant wait
  11. I need to get rid of bad stomach fat. I know its mainly due to my poor diet. I eat a lot of junk and constantly drink sodas. I also am not too sure about where all this weight really is. I know I have somewhat of a gut, but I have not noticed any increase in my pant size. I weighed about 205-210 coming out of high school. Right now I am about 230-235. Yet I have a pair of cargo shorts I bought in like 2004 that still fit the same today. So I know my waist isn't whats been getting bigger. I have had P90X for about 4 years now, and have yet to get past 2 weeks of it mainly due to just not wanting to do it.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 19, 2014 -> 10:08 AM) No slaughter rule in the league? We had a rule that if you were up 20 after 3, 15 after 4, or 10 after 5, the game was over. Well there has to be a slaughter rule as they called the game last night after 3 innings when we were down 20-2. Im just saying that we paid to play, and we still had 4 innings and about 30 minutes of time left, why not just let us play. Better than only getting to bat twice and go home 30 mins early. Ok just looked it up, 15 after 3 and 10 after 5.
  13. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 19, 2014 -> 09:10 AM) There are no errors in softball . That sounds like a line drive single in the book Im playing with my 12"-12 1/2" Nokona baseball glove, im thinking I need an Slowpitch OF glove, but haven't noticed a huge problem yet. Although I wasn't able to snag that shoestring catch, and then in the first game almost had a line drive snow cone out of my glove.
  14. QUOTE (chw42 @ May 19, 2014 -> 08:55 AM) Usually you can only run rule with about 15 or 10 minutes left and the score wouldn't even matter. Our leagues play at least 4 and a half innings. Since you seem to be the stat man around here, let me ask you if you would call this an error. A guy hit a pop that was behind second base, I came sprinting in from LCF and had to attempt a shoe string catch, the ball hit the palm of my glove and I didn't catch it. Would you score this as an error? An infielder wouldn't have been able to make the play, and I had to sprint to it just to have an attempt to catch it.
  15. Heres what bothers me most about it. Our rules are 7 innings or 55 minutes, ok well we are losing 20-2 after 3 innings and about 25 minutes why call the game? I would rather get to play it out then go home 30 minutes early because we suck. I mean we did pay to play.
  16. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 19, 2014 -> 08:35 AM) Playing on teams like that is either a blast because it is so fun-bad, or it is a weekly death march. Either way, if YOU play good, other teams will notice, and you can parlay your good play into free agency Yeah its laughable bad and I don't mind too much as my main goal is to have fun, but it becomes less fun when you only get to bat twice in a game where you are in the 2 hole.
  17. Well season started last night. We won the first game because the team we were playing didn't have enough people. So they picked up 5 guys and beat us 14-3. We still got the win by forfeit at least. Our second game we lost 20-2. They scored 12 in the first inning, the game only went 3 innings due to mercy rule. I batted 3rd the first game, and 2nd the second game. I got a whole 4 plate appearances in TWO games last night. I ended up 2/3 with a BB and a 2B. My lone out was a bases loaded line drive that the SS snagged, sucks too as it was headed for the gap between LF and LCF. Other than that, I gave up my pursuit of hitting a HR and instead opted to try and do what I thought I could do and just hit line drives for base hits every time. It seemed to work out pretty good as my two hits on the night were both line drives right over the infield. Our team is so bad though. Our RF and RCF cant judge fly balls so they either go way over their head or drp in front of them, and our lineup is a black hole outside of our first 4 batters. Its nothing but infield pop-ups or weak groundballs.
  18. What are the odds that well ever see a Zelda game on a PS4 (Or whatever the next one will be called) Maybe?...
  19. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ May 15, 2014 -> 07:56 PM) They do talk about the Dolphins too much as well. But yes, if LeBron were to leave, the Heat would rarely be mentioned. I think you only think that because of the bully gate thing last season, when they were pretty much forced to talk about the Dolphins non stop. Other than that, I almost never hear Dolphins talk from ESPN that isn't general "signed player x" or "drafted player x" which is done for all teams.
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 15, 2014 -> 04:18 PM) It could be. Drop your swing angle to a line drive swing and see if that changes it. If not, it is probably timing. Me personally, I'd bet on timing because you see most guys who just start playing softball, after playing baseball, have that same problem. Well, to be fair I haven't played organized baseball since 2002.. but I only have 10 slowpitch softball games under my belt
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 15, 2014 -> 03:48 PM) The biggest adjustment from baseball to softball is the speed of the game messes people up. Everything is slow. Wait and then wait some more. If you are rolling over on the ball on the ground or popping it up, your swing angle is bad, and you are getting either on top of, or under the ball. From the sounds of, you aren't letting the ball get deep enough on you. Slow. Slow. Slow. That is the key for a softball swing. Let the ball come to you. My initial thought is that I am putting too much uppercut on my swing. I almost never hit ground balls, they are all deep into the air. I am missing out on just a little bit of distance and I believe it is due to the uppercut. That is something from baseball that is tough to initially break out of. I will try waiting a little bit longer on Sunday and see how that goes, I am hitting about 99% of my balls to dead left/slight left center so I might be swinging too early.
  22. Here what it says about the ball " TRUMP STOTE AK-RP-ASA A-Y cor.52 12 inch Balls for men " Also, anyone know where I can get a custom white glove?
  23. Yep, I would say they are prolly 300' down the lines. Also see that we use 12" balls
  24. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 15, 2014 -> 03:19 PM) Limit is 1? Wow, either your field is huge or you guys have flight restricted balls The fields seem pretty big to me, but I also dont know the exact dimensions. What size field do you play on.
  25. QUOTE (chw42 @ May 15, 2014 -> 02:53 PM) Then honestly, you should continue doing it. I honestly don't know anyone who can get a hit every single time (maybe 75-80% of the time, but never all the time). The fact that you can apparently get on base on-demand is way better than hitting the occasional home run. Like Kyle said, keep hitting line drives. The home runs will come. I've hit HRs that were more or less line drives and those feel way better than a towering fly ball that just happens to go out. Also, doesn't your league have a HR limit? Our league doesn't sound quite as competitive as some of yours. Most people out there are in their mid to late 20's but there are some older gentlemen as well mixed in. Hell I could prolly hit a ground ball to short and with my speed and odds of a bad throw get on base almost every time that way. However, I have found that I can pretty much stroke a ball right over the 3B/SS area at will. Ive been thrown out on two ground balls, and that's because I am a sore loser who doesn't run hard when I don't get good contact on the ball but I am working on that. The majority of my outs though are flyballs out to deep left/left center. I would venture to guess I hit about .800 last season, didn't have any homeruns obviously but lots of doubles and triples. Our limit is 1 HR, but like I said no one on our team outside of myself and maybe two others will ever hit a HR or even come close. The majority of them we are just praying they don't strike out.
