  1. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 07:06 AM) This is very true...hoping my son is left-handed. Teach him a knuckleball and he'll have a 50/50 shot to make the majors. I have actually been thinking of this for a while. My son is 2 1/2 and I am pretty sure he is right handed.. but if I have him throw left handed would he be able to become good at throwing left handed or is that a bad idea and just have him throw with the hand that he naturally wants to throw with. I understand if you do something long enough you can become good at it, what I don't know is how that relates to handedness. Is there any data out there about this?
  2. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 09:48 PM) Holy f***. http://www.lebronjames.com wellplayed
  3. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 09:34 PM) Laugh all you want, the vacuum created by the Heat's demise will put the Bulls, Pacers, Wizards and Raptors in position to take the East before the Cavs get their s*** down and dominate the rest of the decade. I can't believe you guys think LeBron can lead a bunch of young guys who've never even been in the playoffs and now they're supposed to be favorites. It'll take them a year or two, and that's going with the premise that their new coach, who's never coached in the NBA, can actually coach on this level. Youre so off base here its ridiculous. LeBron, Love, and Kyrie will have a better supporting cast than the heat had and they would get to the finals with ease. If its Wiggins, LeBron, and Kyrie I still would put them as favorites, but not auto.
  4. Ok so who is the favorite? The Bulls? Hold on while I go laugh uncontrollably for the next 10 minutes
  5. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 08:48 PM) I couldn't care less about Anthony at this point, he was always stayng in NY and it was always about dat money. I'm much more interested in where James ends up. Things are looking like he's going back to Cleveland which gives us a year or two max window in the East to get to the Finals. I honestly believe LeBron in the Cavs and even with Love, they aren't making the Finals right away, it takes some time to mesh and they have alot of youngsters who've never even gotten to the playoffs. I can't believe some of you guys think they're instant contenders, even with Love. Don't get me wrong, they'll be good but their youth, they'll need to mature. I think in 2 or more likely 3 years, they should be killing the East. Yeah right, LeBron was getting the Cavs to the finals with absolute garbage round him. If he has Love/Wiggins, Kyrie, and what other veterens follow theyll come out of the east no problem.
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 7, 2014 -> 09:59 PM) How in the world are Carroll and Hector capable of this? These type of games, and Viciedo's performance on this road trip are times you think the Sox actually have a good managerial and coaching staff. WTF is with this team? Is it a good team or horses***? It never can completely make up its mind. You remember the pathetic sweep at Minnie, pathetic sweep at home against KC and performance vs. the Angels. You do realize Boston sucks right? They are 39-50
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 3, 2014 -> 03:09 PM) And yet we already watched him play his way into an injury and a DL trip once this season. Getting injured is not the same as being fatigued. Just because you give him an off day doesn't mean hes not going to roll an ankle on the bag the next game. If hes not physically tired, there's no reason for him to have days off.
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 3, 2014 -> 02:12 PM) Obviously he hasn't played every single day because there are off days in the schedule, but I think that long-term, giving a guy a tiny bit of extra rest over 162 is incredibly wise. Why? He plays first base. He spend the majority of the game standing around doing not much of anything, and when he hits half the time he just gets to jog slowly around the bases. There's no reason he ever needs a day off.
  9. QUOTE (Charlie Haeger's Knuckles @ Jul 3, 2014 -> 10:34 AM) This is probably just a personal thing, but it makes no sense to refer to a sports team as WE. "glad we won today." "That trade we made last week was awesome." "Wish we would steal more." You aren't on the team. You don't have a say in team transactions. You aren't coaching. Stop saying WE in reference to your favorite sports team. I'm sure I've done it, but I try to correct it when I catch myself saying it. I spend money on merchandise, I spend money to attend games, I invest time to watch on TV. I can say we all I want. Im invested in my favorite teams, there is nothing wrong with using "we" in reference.
  10. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 3, 2014 -> 02:08 PM) Johan Santana disagrees. He pitched a no-hitter on June 1, 2012. He threw 134 pitches after only making 3 starts with 100+ pitchers that year and taking 2011 off. He made 10 more starts in 2012 with an ERA of 8.26 and hasn't appeared in the majors since. Man there is no proof that the 134 pitches he threw that day led to him being terrible and ultimately finished in the big leagues
  11. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Jul 2, 2014 -> 12:12 PM) so who did it better?lol The best part about this is Jeremy Lin is currently #7
  12. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 2, 2014 -> 01:21 PM) I would have thought Melo was a decent bet for Houston, but not anymore. I guess his meeting with them lasted about an hour and a half. Plus, I wonder how signing guys like Asik and Lin and then dealing them (Asik) or have one foot out the door (Lin) would sit with Melo. He would have to be concerned they would have zero problem moving him in the next year or 2 if they thought they could get that flavor of the day. Well to be fair, I am pretty sure Asik and Lin are expiring contracts. Its not like they signed them and then traded them the following season. They are off the books after this season, at least im pretty sure thats the case. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 2, 2014 -> 01:22 PM) Ah the hurricanes will blow you guys off the map eventually. And you hit on the winter, but the summers there are brutal Houston is far enough inland that its pretty unlikely a hurricane would ever blow it off the map, and if you live in Katy like I do the worst you get is heavy rain and MAYBE some roof damage. The summers can be very brutal but I tend to not mind it so much when im in a pool.
  13. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 2, 2014 -> 12:32 PM) I heard in the next 10-15 years Houston's population is supposed to pass Chicago's. As it probably should. No state tax, shorts and tshirt weather 8 months out of the year. Harsh winter here is 35 degrees, its usually around 40-50 during the winter. The beach is 45 minutes away. You've got the Astros, Rockets, Texans, and Dynamo all easily accessible and cheap to attend. Its actually pretty damn nice down here. I think Melo ends up with the Rockets or back to the Knicks for max money.
  14. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 2, 2014 -> 10:28 AM) No. sorry it sucks. it's a strip mall with 100 degree heat. I live in Houston, you're wrong. Well, not about the 100 degree heat.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 1, 2014 -> 08:49 PM) What was her name (the other main actress in SS)? Dina Meyer or something. I remember she used to appear on Beverly Hills 90210. Yes, she was hotter than Denise Richards in Starship Troopers

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jun 29, 2014 -> 09:06 PM) It is stunning. I'm no movie snob but those movies are absolute trash. I really don't understand why anyone would continue to pay to see those in theaters. Whats not to understand? A lot of people probably enjoyed Transformers 4. Im sure there were a lot of people who were iffy on it but wanted to check it out anyways. Starship Troopers is one of my all time favorite movies, im sure there are plenty of people who think that its "trash".
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 26, 2014 -> 03:43 PM) ChiTribSports ‏@ChiTribSports 1h Native American group says it will sue Cleveland Indians http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/break...story?track=rss … Good luck with that one
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 26, 2014 -> 04:12 PM) Embiid just screams bust to me. Ill second this
  19. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 26, 2014 -> 08:26 AM) I thought I read last night its lottery protected. What I saw said if it falls between 4-19 Houston gets it
  20. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 24, 2014 -> 03:46 PM) As s***ty as it is, there are worse scams than those that help a sick little girl. I hope her need of help is at least sincere Yeah except if those people are scuzzy enough to pull something like that, odds are they aren't using that money to help the girl out. At least not all of it.
  21. Pretty much any nickname that joecoolman had a part in was absolutely terrible
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 24, 2014 -> 09:12 AM) WTF is wrong with some people. Taking advantage of a kids injuries like that? http://wgntv.com/2014/06/24/report-disfigu...c-story-a-hoax/ I think ive reached a point in my life where the phrase "WTF is wrong with some people" no longer means anything and its no surprise to see stuff like this nowadays. Very sad that this is the world we live in.
  23. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 24, 2014 -> 12:46 PM) Doubly so now because Brock never got revenge for being lied to about how that Extreme Rules match was supposed to end. What?
  24. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 24, 2014 -> 09:52 AM) I know, it just goes with out saying that you should throw everything at LeBron if you can. Well of course, hes the best player in the league. Realistically though, I think Houston could get the room and present the best situation for him to win multiple titles. I don't think the Heat are going to be able to reconfigure everything.
  25. Its not realistic for every team to do that, Houston however could shed Lin/Asik and be able to work in LeBron and immediately be the best team in the NBA
