  1. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 03:26 PM) My boy Zach Putnam (played ball at the same high school, 3 yrs apart) is just killing it in the minors for the Indians, he really could be a stud pitcher. Looks like they converted him to a reliever but his stats are pretty insane: IP: 32.1 ERA: 2.51 WHIP: 1.021 HR/9: 0.8 BB/9: 1.7 k/9: 7.2 I don't know if I would call that insane
  2. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 11:22 PM) This is the stuff that I don't understand, being excited over making up ground. When they get to 4 games back of the leader in the loss column they'll be contenders. Until then they are also-rans. So nobody should be optimistic about cutting the deficit in half over the last 4 weeks?
  3. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 09:05 PM) I would guess scouting for the series in August. not sure if serious, but that's good stuff
  4. QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 07:30 PM) I agree with what Bill Parcells said, "you are what your record says you are." but can we at least wait to see what their record will finish as? or should they just forfeit the season in june?
  5. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 01:39 PM) You say they are playing good baseball, I just disagree. They have not cut the deficit in half in a four week stretch, they've picked up 4 games in the loss column. I'm not a debbie downer. I am following the team as I always do and I am still down on the team. The team is still under .500, still not playing good baseball. What do you want the four of us to do ... act all fat and happy about how great the Sox are? I want the Sox to win. The Sox still deserve a grade of D for the season. Do you agree? If it changes to a C, B, A, I'll be f***ing thrilled. Watching the team make out after out with runners in scoring position with less than two outs would drive anybody crazy. How you retain the optimism is great, but I can't do that right now. You give the team a grade to this date, please. It's a D. Why do you insist on giving season grades and harping on being back in the loss column 1/3 into the season? Baseball is a marathon, not a race..
  6. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 11:40 AM) Right-handed pitchers who throw in the low 90's without either a plus breaking or off-speed pitch=boring. Hey, its still a SP that looks to have some projectability and could move quick through the system.. better than the Broadways and McCullochs of the past
  7. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 11:36 AM) White Sox=boring whats boring about taking a SP with 4 pitches who could move quickly through the system? Isn't that something we need with ?'s like Buehrle, Peavy, Danks, Jackson, and Humber in our current rotation?
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 11:32 AM) Pretty obvious Sox will take Purke here. But will that change our grade with J4L??
  9. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 11:19 AM) To this point, yes. And let's not act like I'm the only human being on the planet that gives out draft grades right away. Happens in every sport. I'm not waiting until 2015. No, you're not the only person who does that.. but man you are GUSHING over some of these teams "drafts", maybe I should say picks? Its hasn't even been two rounds yet.. the majority of these dudes will never see the major leagues
  10. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 11:14 AM) Nationals, Pirates and D-backs all with A+. lol, a couple picks into round 2 and you're giving people A+ grades on drafts that wont even matter for 3 years
  11. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 09:40 AM) To be fair, I initially thought they meant all-time. Not just since the 2-3-2 format. That did sound kinda unbelievable. This is much more passable. crazy that in a 7 game series, tied at 1-1, and certain thing happens in the THIRD game and you can pretty much call it a night..
  12. QUOTE (The Critic @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 02:46 AM) Miz wrote on Twitter that he was not injured last night. that's odd considering the word was that he was thrown over the ropes, landed wrong, and needed to be carried to the back with the match essentially just being stopped with no winner declared..
  13. QUOTE (SuperSteve @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 09:58 PM) I agree 100%. I feel like the creativity just isn't there right now. I also miss different factions and the two the WWE currently utilizes suck (Corre and Nexus). As long as I can remember, there has been great factions: Ted DiBiase and the Million Dollar Corporation, The Hart Foundation, The Task Master Kevin Sullivan and the Dungeon of Doom, Raven and the Flock, the NWO, DX, The Nation of Domonation, The Blue Bloods, The Ministry of Darkness, the list goes on and on. I didn't watch much wrestling for a couple years and now I've come back, I miss what factions add to wrestling. Yep, I miss the characters and the stables.. those two things alone add a huge element to storylines.. now its just like solo guys going by their real names.. there arent really stables, tag teams are completely irrelevant.. I meant s***, look at tag teams back in the day like the smoking gunns, legion of doom, the body donnas, the new age outlaws, demolition, the natural disasters, the steiner brothers, the nasty boys, quebecers, headshrinkers, even teams like the headbangers and men on a mission.. tag teams and stables use to be huge and now they are a thing of the past Remember when the Intercontinental title actually meant something? Yeah, now its worthless..
  14. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 02:10 AM) You hope that a switch just goes on and he becomes the monster he used to be, and that really isn't unprecedented, but it's really just a wait and see game. I don't think people remember how bad Konerko was in the first half of 2003. On June 28th, Paul Konerko's OPS was .525. From July 2nd until the end of the season, Konerko put up an .865 OPS. To cherry pick further, from July 13th to September 7th, he OPS'd 1.050. Dunn is definitely not going to have his typical year, but I'm going to be extremely surprised if he doesn't end up with an OPS of .800. He's had a pretty terrible year, but I would honestly say it's probably only half as bad as the year Konerko was having in 2003 - considering his OPS was more than 100 points less and strong offense was much more prevalent then. He will right the ship. He won't end up with a typical 38 homer, .900 OPS Adam Dunn season, but he will right the ship. Ugh, Konerko was SO bad in that first half.. its crazy that it does almost feel exactly the same with Dunn right now.. its just like, what the hell is going on??
  15. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 11:06 PM) Cmon, shaved games off the lead?? The team has a season high win streak of four games. The team has been OK of late. We're all big boys/girls and this team has done very little to crow about. If Dunn and Rios were earning half their paychecks we might be 10 over .500 and if we were 10 over .500 we'd all be happy. And yes, thank goodness for Paulie and Sergio. So you want to complain when they looked dead in the water, and now you STILL wanna complain about it when we are making ground and catching up to Cleveland?? You would figure that when they started turning it around people would be more inclined to actually start seeing a positive to the season, but it appears some people just want to b**** for the hell of it.. I can think of about 4 of you guys off the top of my head.. give it a rest already they've cut their deficit in HALF in what, a 4 week stretch? First it was there's no way they are gonna contend for the division after their start.. oops.. and then it was Cleveland got off to way too good of a start.. oops again.. Whats the point of being a debbie downer when they are actually playing good baseball lately? I don't get it.
  16. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 5, 2011 -> 11:32 PM) So I was right as far as the 2-3-2 format goes. I have no clue about before that. I wonder how many of those teams where the home team for the middle 3 games
  17. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 5, 2011 -> 09:54 PM) There's absolutely no way that's true. Why not? teams that win game 3 in a 1-1 tie win the series like 75% of the time in the playoffs alone.. its either 75 or 80, because I know I commented about that when the Bulls lost game 3
  18. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 3, 2011 -> 07:18 AM) I think he said in some kind of capacity with FCW and training kids. If he is clean, he would be good. The guy knew how to work. Yeah, I do believe him coming back had nothing to do with him actually wrestling.. much like Nash now

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 2, 2011 -> 11:11 PM) X-Men: First Class was quite a bit better than I'd expected. Thought McAvoy and Fassbender were excellent in their respective roles, and it's always easy to hate Kevin Bacon. Agreed fully.
  21. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 2, 2011 -> 06:33 AM) Let us know how it is T R U. I know Critic is curious. I saw the Waltman/Chyna one briefly.. and I cant possibly put myself through that again

QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Jun 1, 2011 -> 01:31 PM) I thought this was a funny exchange. Maybe I just really like the characters. I loved that part
  23. QUOTE (Real @ Jun 2, 2011 -> 12:47 AM) people will come back to earth about lillibridge if ozzie plays him everyday, there's a reason he isn't an everyday player, he will get expoooooooosed quickly how so?
  24. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 1, 2011 -> 05:47 PM) So Chyna made a porn for Vivid Video. Then denied it. Then Vivid released the trailer on the site..... LOL, why would you deny you made a porn a day before the production company released it? haha, there were articles about her saying she was going back to doing it.. what a moron
  25. QUOTE (stretchstretch @ Jun 1, 2011 -> 09:07 PM) and you gotta love how espn titles their article "White sox sweep slumping Red Sox" right, the team who won 5 of their last 6 before we came to town is "slumping"...... to degrade the quality of the sweep as if they came to the park and took advantage of a wounded animal.....rather than admitting we punkslapped a hot first place team in the AL East.... meh, they are on a 4 game skid and just got swept at home.. but we know how big it was, so whats it matter
